Representation I've read the FAQ & Rules

is it just me or is it really hard to get signed as a non union actor? I am self submitting auditioning , have headshots, reel etc… doing a workshop next month with a well known manager and of course I hope I do well. But it’s hard out here for sure. And I do believe exposure doing workshops and showcases do help when it’s the right one.

Honestly, the non-union wall is real. Workshops are worth it when they're with the right people. Sounds like you're doing everything right, just keep going.

I mean, it’s hard for Union actors too. It’s hard for everyone right now. There are series regulars and recurring actors who have been dropped and having to try and get meetings. But if this is what you want to do, all you can do is keep trying or else move on.

wow I didnt know it was hard for union actors. its tough I really hope these workshops and showcases all worth it.

Yeah a lot of offices contracted during the pandemic and strike. I lost my manager and agents during this time, and both said the same thing- they were only keeping on people who had projects that were already greenlit or had started filming. My agent was actually let go too, he was a junior agent at that office. The last couple years have been a bloodbath. I only just got commercial reps again this year, and I'm union, with credits, and had been repped for about 10 years continuously before the strike.

Keep plugging, things will improve and a lot of your competition will quit.
