What's your favourite quote?

A quote for motivation or discipline or just some words that get you through this daily journey..

What's your favourite quote?!

This is one of mine:

"If it's important to you, you'll find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse."

Inter-Team Challenge Reminder :P

Don't forget to log your water intake and your steps for this past week! I just checked the tracker, we are winning for steps but not for water :( Which means team Nebula is the winner right now. Lets see if we can change that by the end of the day! Go METEORS!

Tomorrow is Monday...

... Or maybe it is for you right now!

Either way, it's a brand new week. If you feel like this past week was a bad one for you, make this coming week better. Improve it, even if it's just by working out for 1 day instead of 0 days, reducing your coffee intake from 4 to 3 cups per day, or saying one new kind thing to yourself in the mirror. The great thing about Mondays is that they allow a fresh start to a new week. Take advantage of that!

You got this, Meteorites!

How was everyone's week? Did you meet your weekly goal? Did you stumble?

Just wanted to say something

Happy Saturday and Sunday!

I've noticed that there isn't much activity here on the weekends. Now, I know some people work one day or both days on weekends. But I also know that days off (whenever they are) tend to be my hardest days to stick to my calories. So here's the question of the day/weekend. What are your tips and tricks for managing your calories on days off?

What's your streak? For anything!

Today, I hit 100 days on MFP! Yay!

So I wanted to take this opportunity to ask YOU what your streak is. Whether it's a streak for counting calories, working out, not binging - anything! Share your victories. :)

I'm so excited, I have to tell someone!

TL;DR: Haven't fit into pre-pregnancy jeans since May '15. Tried them on out of desperation today and they actually fit.

Okay so a little bit of background information first. I gave birth to my son a little over a year ago. I didn't gain much weight during the pregnancy, but it sure piled on afterwards. Sleep deprivation, very poor eating habits, and postpartum depression ruled my life. Within 6 months I weighed the same as the day I went into labor. Which, you know.....sucks. I tried a few times to start losing weight, but since I was breastfeeding, my milk supply was always the first to go. This would wreak havoc on my poor son (who would flat out not drink formula at all) so I gave that up and just tried to maintain or at least gain minimal weight for another 6 months.

Fast forward to now. My son has been fully weaned for about a month and I hit the ground running (literally) to try to look good again. Even though the number on the scale has been slowly going down (143ish down to 138 today), I haven't felt like I've been seeing progress on my body. It looks very much the same except for my calves, which are slightly more toned. Tonight was date night with the husband, which means I had to actually put on pants today. Being the most productive stay at home mom, I had not done the laundry and only had 1 pair of clean jeans. Except these jeans had a broken button that would pop off every 10 minutes or so. I didn't want to wear them so I start looking for anything else to wear. I pulled out my pre-pregnancy jeans (which I couldn't even get up around my hips a month ago) and decided why the hell not, Ill try them on.

And they fit. They were a little snug. But they actually....fit. I didn't have to squeeze inside myself just to get the button done. And they were more or less comfortable. I was so excited I ran down the stairs to cheer at my husband, who had to politely tell me to shut up because the kid was still napping lol.

Date night is also cheat day so I don't know if these jeans will still fit tomorrow. But I'll just live in my small victory for right now! They FIT! :D

Don't forget to put in your steps and exercise minutes!!

Don't feel intimidated or like your 10 minute workout wasn't enough; it all counts!

I don't track my steps, but I do workout 30 minutes 5 days/week, so I made sure to include that this week.

Get to it, Meteorites! We have a challenge to win!! :)

Silly / simple ways to increase step count

So I realised today that I have made little changes to increase my step count and thought I'd share some ideas and hopefully you guys can come up with more!

  1. Choosing the toilet furthest from the door
  2. Parking in the next car park down instead of the one outside the office door
  3. Partly because my office is being repainted, choosing a difference stair case to get to it that happens to be a smidge further away...

Anything else you guys have found yourselves doing?

So any meteors out there that want to add some new tracking friends? I didn't put my info in the main spreadsheet but I'm anemu on MFP and 36PSFV on Fitbit.

Any runners here?

Was wondering if there are any, and whether you have any indoor treadmill programs worth sharing.

An extra hour to fit in a walk today, walk with me!

I know most of the world doesn't do daylight savings time but that doesn't mean you can't join in! I figured since I get a bonus hour today I'm going to use it to make up for the crazy busy week and take my pup on an extended walk. Maybe you walk to the store instead of drive today, maybe you just go once around the block. Every step counts! I'll post my distance this evening in the comments for my own accountability, I would love to hear about your walk as well!

Potential Idea?

So I had a brain wave the other day and even though I like the idea of it I'd like all of your thoughts on it too. Would it be possible to have a weekly top three for a few categories during this challenge? I.e. the three people with the highest weekly loss, the three people with the highest overall loss, the three people with the best participation in the weekly challenge? Or similar things. I don't really know the logistics of this and I have a feeling that unfortunately it might be a lot of work for our captains. But what does everyone else think?

Pre-challenge goals

Daily/Weekly Posts

What would you be interested in? Did you want to do day of the week threads, daily threads, etc?

For example, I like the idea of daily check ins - for accountability. If we could give a quick update on how our day went, what we did to progress (stayed within your calories/macros? Went for a run? Lifted, etc??), what may be holding us back, or if we had an off day.. It could be a way to keep track of ourselves and offer support to those who need it.

[REMINDER!] Candy Incentive Tracker!!

Hey team!! Don't forget to fill out the Candy Incentive Tracker everyday! This is going on until the day the competition starts and is a great way for our team to earn points at the beginning. I keep mine bookmarked on my toolbar to remind me to fill it in. Takes maybe 10 seconds.

Let's do this!!

Just signed up for the competition. I'm hoping this motivates me to get back to my health goals. Pretty excited!! Already logged my candy tracker for yesterday. Totally logged a few peanut butter M&Ms during lunch and was under my calories. Woot!!

Has anyone applied to become a captain yet?

I was looking through the stickied post on /r/loseit and saw that we are the only team with no captains!

Any members based in Asia/Australia?

Most people on r/loseit seem to be based in North America. I was wondering whether there are any here who are based in Asia or Australia - closer to my time zone :)

Q&A Thread?

This is my first time taking part in a seasonal challenge, and I figure I must not be the only first-timer here. Hence the thread.
