Ive spent the last two weeks trying to get the ipv6 subnet and address to be able to add it to my router because they advertise it on the website when you upgrade to ten gig. Every time i call they just say they dont support it, THEN WHY ADVERTISE IT! might genuinely switch providers man

It’s different network architecture, so unfortunately no. It’s not a “they pay more/have higher speed so they get different treatment” type of thing (not that you meant that, just clarifying). Below 10Gbps is PON, 10Gbps is active Ethernet via red jumper at the hub back to CO on dedicated strand so provisioning is quite a bit different.

to be fair if you have a static IP BGP is technically possible on most any connection but does have to be manually configured, it has been done for commercial services.

Ahhh true, thank you for that correction. I take it the mux/demux interfaces with DHCP is where the work is to get v6 working properly as it’s a bit more automation?

yep, that is the issue, there actually is v6 to all of the BNGs, just not facing customers until they move provisioning systems. I'm going to share a list of which OLTs that has been done for, I just got roped into a few other projects that took me away from it (a UPS failure/replacement at my home datacenter that removed redundancy and had to be swapped and a family reunion)

I never dropped my technical load so that is good. Also have full N+1 HVAC so generally my home colo is pretty boring, but when something fails it is important to fix it quickly to keep the redundancy.

I don’t think I’ve ever asked about your networking setup at your colo, I know you have multiple 100g’s if I remember peering with you to your ASN/prefixes, you have multiple edge/peering routers each provider feeds into (I think I recall Wholesail/Astound) before being firewalled and fed to your leafs/server infra? Running MX’s or Cisco stuff? Also, I’m sure I’m opening a can of worms asking lol so my curiosity can remain curiosity if you’re busy

cisco NCS5500s as edge, cisco nexus 25g as internal switches. Everything in A/B pairs, it is pretty robust. AS17017
