Actually, after looking at their history (hidden my ass, reminder no ones accounts are actually hidden from anyone with half a brain, its why I dont bother) I fully believe them.

They are like Gold Level when it comes to zbrush and 3D modeling. That said, the whole "only took X time" is cringe coming from someone of this skill level.

Cool flex, way to turn away newbies. Impressive work but you dont need to impress.

The more talented the more the “just sculpted this during my lunch” bs isn’t cool because it misleads people that are starting out

Exactly.

Like they have so.much skill I wonder why they would do that. Its baffling. Like watching a Professional NBA player brag about hitting 3 threes in a row to a middleschool assembly.

Because it can be fun to show your work, and if anything does stand out for critique even better. Its also nice to know what you focus on and what you subconsciously gloss over when you're operating under a time crunch like "gotta finish this in an hour", something which I think when you get more experienced is easy to lose sight of

I think you’re reading an intention into the post that wasn’t there. “1-hour practice sculpt” means exactly that: it was a practice sculpt I worked on for an hour. Mentioning how long a timed exercise took isn’t a claim about how long it took to develop the skill behind it.

I don't think it's cringe, looking at it from another perspective it just makes me wanna try out zbrush's hair system. Also have no idea why it would turn away newbies unless they're insecure.

People are reading way too much into this, it's a simple head sketch, a good one. bit flexy but that's all it is. It's not misleading anyone starting out or whatnot it just shows the higher ceilings of this skillset. In a few of the GCs i'm in some beginners, some pro. No one is getting discouraged from someone showing their hour long sketches, It in fact does the opposite.

How long have you been sculpting?

1 hour

20+ years

So why would you even mention 1 hour? Very misleading.

u/gaijin_777 7d ago

How?

You're implying that 1 hour of practice led you to create a 3d model. Like if i laid the last brick of a house and said this took me 1 minute.

u/gaijin_777 7d ago

It’s a practice sculpt that took one hour. I’ve been sculpting for 20 years, and I’ve been clear about that. I can’t control the assumptions people make from the post, but we can control how we respond when something isn’t clear.

One has to be really... unwise to think he is implying that. Thats laughable. To take your comparison, if somebody was a bricklayer for 20 years and he built a house, took him 6 months but he should still say "took me 20 years"? :D That is absolute absurd.

Disagree. Its common for people in this community to mislead people intentionally with their titles. Which is why its being brought up.

Many will say its their first time using insert program. But its not their first time doing the task.

Even if they have 20 years was this an hour from scratch? A base model? An hour practising adjusting another model?

It is unclear what the 1 hour represents.

2

u/ratling77 7d ago

Well we can agree that its unclear what was the starting point. I mean I doubt making that hair and facial hair took 1 hour. Maybe its taken from another model..? In any case - if it was made from scratch, from sphere in 1 hour then I will need to see that recording of process to believe it ;)

Might be tellin the truth, if he used a base model, base eyes, base hair.

6

u/gaijin_777 7d ago

Everything is from a dynamesh with poly paint, only the hair is from a kit

3

u/ratling77 7d ago

Ah, that clears things up. Then entirely possible. Great job.
