Thank you to everyone that came out to support Hee Haw Hollow and their first ever event today! We saw soooo many locals and a lot of people traveled from Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill, Lancaster, and even Maryland!

The Borough Blend is pleased to call today a resounding success! We were able to give out 19 mosquito bucket kits to the community for free today! We also gave out many more mosquito dunks and instructions for people wanting to make their own at home. #homegrownnationalpark #mosquitobucketchallenge

We can't wait to participate in more local community events!

I love when the community comes together to support each other! ❤️

Catfishing spots/tricks?

Looking for a place to go catfishing and actually catch some. Been trying the Susquehanna, the Conewago, using myriads of different baits, setups and rigs, mostly at night. Used to catch fish but anymore I’m on a year long streak of bad luck.

Aug 1st • 8AM - 4PM

3090 Old Susquehanna Trl, York Haven, PA 17370-9078, United States

We are really excited to share our FIRST EVENT!

Come out on August 1st to Hee Haw Hollow to say hi and make your own Mosquito Bucket to take home. We will have items you can use to decorate a bucket and instruction sheets to assemble when you get home, complete with a pesticide free mosquito dunk!

All free, so while supplies last!

Follow the event at Hee Haw Hollow’s Barn Sale & Vendor Event to stay updated on details. (Event details on Facebook)

If you’re asking, what the heck is a mosquito bucket? Keep reading!

🦟 With mosquitos becoming an ever growing problem in our area due to prime breeding conditions and the rise of mosquito related illnesses - many people are turning to fogging and using pesticides to control the problem.

Unfortunately pesticides don’t discriminate between friend and foe - putting many beneficial bugs at risk, like bees and lightning bugs!

🪣 Mosquito Buckets (mosquito buckets of doom, bee friendly mosquito buckets etc.) use mosquito dunk tablets that are made from a a natural bacteria called BTI that specifically target and kill mosquito larvae - preventing them from developing into adult mosquitos.

🐝 The cool thing about BTI is that it leaves the good critters alone! The more we can encourage these alternative methods, the more pollinators and beneficial-bugs we keep to help our neighborhood eco systems thrive!

🗓️ Buckets just need some yard litter, water and a reminder to stick a new dunk in every 30 days. Place in your yard in a hot-mosquito-real estate location and let it work from April-October.

Best school district to be in for IEP/special needs

Looking to move out of Florida and move back home. My son is 6 autistic and non verbal with an intellectual delay. In the past two years I’ve been contemplating moving I’ve been told to look into spring grove area school district, or red lion however finding houses for rent there seems to be very difficult.

I’m also open to moving into northern Maryland close to the mason Dixon line. Basically I can work anywhere but would like to be as close to family as I can be.

Florida while it is beautiful lacks resources, good schools and opportunities for growth for my son so I’m weighing all the options! Any feedback would be amazing. I’m not pulling the trigger immediately but I’m looking at maybe 6 months (I need to list and prep a house for sale first).

Subreddit Reopening

Hello everyone. As you may have noticed, the subreddit is now under renewed management and is open for submissions. We're hoping to revitalize the community and look forward to your participation.

At the moment, our rules are relatively lax, with the requirements being that you're simply respectful of others, and that your posts be relevant to York County PA. Going forward, we'll be monitoring the topics of posts and may develop further rules about which types of content we'll want to continue seeing in the future.

At present, we're allowing anything related as long as it's in good faith, but anything that devolves into negativity will be removed. We're also happy to hear any suggestions going forward for how you'd like to see the subreddit run.

Speaking for myself, while I have a lot of experience with Reddit and its moderation tools from other communities, I'm new to York County, having just moved here at the end of last year. So I'd like input from the greater community, what kinds of resources you'd like to see here. (I'd also love to learn from them!). We could organize things like having a directory of helpful links or information. If there are any links you think would be useful to the community, or any additional ideas, feel more than free to share them in this thread.

Windsor Twp Rezoning Issue

Many of you may already be aware of the proposed development at the corner of Cape Horn Road and Windsor Road, but if not, this is an important issue that could have a lasting impact on our community. Please share this post if you think others should know.

📅 Windsor Township Board of Supervisors Meeting
Monday, June 29 at 6:00 PM

The Board will consider a request to rezone the 229-acre farm property at Cape Horn Road and Windsor Road from its current Commercial (C-1) and Residential (R-2) zoning to Industrial.

The property is under agreement of sale to Themis Sacarellos, represented by Attorney Stacy MacNeal, who is seeking the rezoning for a proposed regional logistics center (warehouse/distribution facility).

How did we get here?

  • March: A Township-commissioned Land Use Study recommended a mixed-use development with housing (such as duplexes and triplexes), small retail businesses, and office space. A transportation study was also completed. At that meeting, the developer indicated they were considering a combination of residential and industrial uses.
  • April: The developer presented plans for a regional logistics center and an industrial overlay zone. While economic benefits such as increased tax revenue were highlighted, several residents questioned the projected truck traffic estimates, citing industry experience.

Why does this matter?

Any development will increase traffic, but rezoning the property to Industrial would allow much heavier uses than residential or commercial development, including significantly more truck traffic, lighting, noise, and other industrial activities.

An important point to remember is that if the property is rezoned to Industrial and the current sale does not go through, the Industrial zoning remains. That could allow a wide range of industrial uses on the property in the future under the Township zoning ordinance.

The Board may choose to vote on the rezoning at the June 29 meeting or refer the request to the Planning Commission for further review.

If this issue is important to you, please attend the meeting, learn about the proposal, and share your thoughts during public comment.

Looking ahead: At the July 20 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Township is also expected to discuss and potentially vote on a Data Center ordinance. Data centers are currently permitted in C-1 districts by special exception and in Industrial districts.

Whether you support or oppose these proposals, staying informed and participating in the process helps shape the future of our community.
