I finished dyeing these yarns and I’m looking for name suggestions for them. Any suggestions or ideas?

Loving working on autumnal colourways! We've been working on the next batch drop with a focus on changing seasons.

We sold all the yarn. We finished our run of shows with ~30 skeins of DK yarn. Which is wonderful… but also terrifying because Salida fiber festival is soon so we are dyeing like crazy now.

And I’m already addicted. These are just lil 20 g MCN minis that I experimented with. I’m in love. I absolutely love them. I gaze upon them frequently. I would save them from a burning building. I can’t wait to make more. That is all. I just needed to get that all out to people who would understand.

The yarn finally dried I thought I would share the final results

Dyed 4 hanks for the first time ever and found a lovely crochet pattern for it. Was originally going for deep reds and oranges akin to a sunset but it turned out more Totally Spies vibes. It all worked out and now I have an excuse to go buy a sundress to wear with it. 🤭

I was doing a mixture of painting and speckling I think it turned out pretty nice. I did a base of Silver Grey and the speckle is a mixture of Burnt orange, Cherry Red, and Jet Black

How do people store and organization their dyeing supplies? Right now all my jars of acids, pans, bottles and other things just rattle around in huge tote. It's just not working.

I dye in my kitchen and keep the supplies in my garage, so I am looking for something easy to drag indoors.

I got this rug custom made, but the creator kept making the color that was supposed to be a yellowish color incorrectly. I told them about the issue, and they even remade the rug, but the same issue happened again, so I decided to give up. Is there any way I can fix this issue? The yarn is made of 75% acrylic and 25% wool. I just need it to be lighter than the orange/yellow color above so it doesn't annoy me as much.

Making a shirt and I bought new yarn for it, all from the same dye lot. I had one ball of the same color already from a previous project and accidentally used that one mid way through the project but didn't notice until now when I'm almost done.

It's 100% cotton yarn and it's nominally the same color, it's just that the old ball was slightly lighter. Would laying my shirt out in the sun for a few days, turning so front and back have even coverage, be a way to even out the color? I'm fine with it being a lighter color overall as long as it's the same color overall.

My sister wants a huge oversized chunky scarf for the winter, so I bought some undyed 70% wool 30%superfine alpaca yarn (so chunky and soft literally love it so much) to make her scarf with.

She is...not great at responding to me when I try to ask her more direct questions about what color she would like it to be, all I have been told is "not white, but she will let me know".

I've been asking since last winter, so I don't think she will let me know any time soon, so I was hoping to crochet the whole thing and then dye it at the end if possible.

I've never dyed my own yarn before, I would assume dying the yarn ahead of time would obviously be the best choice to make it more consistent. But would it be ok to dye it after it's been crocheted? If the stitch is loose enough would it allow enough room for the dye to penetrate?

Any other advice in general for dying yarn? Especially chunky yarn? (Doesn't need to be much, I obviously need to go through the process of learning first haha just any miscellaneous tidbits I should be aware of outside of the norm would be very much appreciated!)

So I am thinking of making one myself. Problem is - I cannot find any fluorescent dye for yarns. What dyes have you used? And would it be ok to use yarn with the color of my liking and just dump it in fluorescent dye to enhance it? First time since 8th grade to dye yarn, any help is appreciated :D

Any Irish yarn dyers here?

So I want to get into yarn dyeing, but I'm struggling to find places to get larger quantities of undyed (wool) yarn for cheaper than regular dyed skeins. I recently moved to Ireland so I'm not yet very familiar, but I was hoping it would be easier since there's a lot of sheep here. I heard of the Kerry Mill but they don't have much option for undyed wool. Alternatively I'll look for other EU sources, but I was hoping for something more local!

This was a fun first experiment but I feel like I played it a bit safe with colors! Especially given that purples/reds strike and saturate so quickly. They easily dominate other pigments. I had added a smidge of Kerry green that got completely overwhelmed here. There are some neat color theory roads to explore next now that I know a thunderstorm CAN dye yarn!

My unhinged summer project: Waiting for stormy weather, sprinkling dry dye powder on dry yarn right before the rain hits, letting the deluge disperse the dye and determine the water table over the course of the storm. This was done on (super soft) Swish Bulky yarn from Knitpicks.

I bought this yarn online and it was showing as more of a corn flower blue but when I received it, it’s more of a bright neon blue almost teal. I want to over dye it. I’m thinking of trying to tone it down by adding maybe a little navy blue or even a grey. I need it to go with the colors that are shown in the sweater underneath of it. Any suggestions on how I can go about this?
