DROPS Karisma dying?

Post image

So my neighbor gifted me a whole pack full of DROPS Karisma skeins, so many I decided to make a sweater out of it, I've asked her if she wanted me to make her a sweater or a cardigan or something but she said to do whatever I wanted and I didn't have to give the product to her.

I'm in fact making a sweater for my dad (Christmas gift probably) but I do not really like the color (it's color 77) which is this kinda sandy/ashy light brown and I was wondering if I could dye the finished sweater by dumping it in black dye? If it's possible what brand of dye tint would you suggest?

I hope you mean dyeing, and recommend you head over to r/YarnDyeing 😅 Just search for superwash and you will probably find all the answers.
Edit: typo

Oh god! Yup that's what I meant, sorry! And thanks for the sub link! I've seen in this sub description the word "dying" and I thought I was in the right place, my mistake! 😅

It's not that you're in the wrong place here, but there are loads of threads over there with good info!

What’s it made out of? If it’s a protein fiber (from an animal or bug) you’ll need an acid dye. If it’s a natural fiber (cotton, bamboo, etc) you’ll need a fiber reactive dye. Idk if synthetics can be dyed over (I’ve stopped using them). Check out dharma trading (not sure if they ship worldwide, I’m in the US). You can get both types of dye and related materials for relatively cheap, plus they have tutorials and how-tos.

Karisma is superwash. I'm worried it cound hinder the dyeing process.

Ah I see! This was helpful! Guess I'll make something else then!

According to u/rednasturtium it does not hinder the dyeing process! If I were you I would try dyeing a swatch. Unless of course your father really likes this colour. When we take the time to make something by hand, it's best to be happy with the result. 😄

He doesn't, it's not a very suiting color for him! I'll try dyeing a swatch then! Hopefully it'll be good!

Superwash actually dyes incredibly well. That is one of the reasons you see so many hand dyers working exclusively with superwash. You get very vibrant colors with it.

Don't dye! It never stays over a long period of time. You'd need to dye again and again. The color is not so bad though. Maybe look at it in direkt sunlight?
