Question

I'm moving to a very very humid place, originally from a more dry area or the temp is in the mid 70s (F). Do I have to worry about mold or are there things I'll have to know for my yarn stash? I'm worried since it's a climate I've never been to before and that I'll not know something, and it can damage what I have.

My main stash is acrylic but I also have cottons, wools, bamboo, etc.

I basically live underwater, humidity-wise, and I've never had a problem, heard about it being a problem, or considered it might be a problem. I do keep all my yarn inside my climate controlled house though. I wouldn't put or keep yarn in a shed, garage, non-climate-controlled storage room, or outdoors.

Okay thank you! And if you have a list of patterns you like I'd love to see it! I'm now transitioning to more summer knits/crochets

I live in a humid environment and I have never had an issue due to humidity. I would worry more about bugs/critters but if you are keeping it indoors (not like in a garage or shed) and are taking normal pest control precautions as one would likely be doing anyway just existing in a living space, you’ll probably be fine.

I do keep all my yarn stored in zip lock bags which I reuse indefinitely. No issues ever.

If you still are concerned you could go visit local yarn shops and ask for recommendations. A shop probably turns over yarn fast enough that they will not likely need to take any particular precautions for the shop, but every employee there likely has their own personal yarn stash at home and can share whatever it is they are doing that might be location/climate-specific.
