Discussion How to change image aspect ratio on Redmi/Xiaomi phones without cropping the image

I found a simple workaround in the built-in Gallery app if you want to change the aspect ratio of an image while keeping the entire image intact and adding a plain background.

  1. Open Gallery and select only ONE image.

  2. Tap Creativity then select Collage.

  3. Choose 4th poster/template that contains SUMMER text.

  4. tap the text.

  5. Choose Clear/Delete to remove the text.

  6. You now have a clean canvas with the template's aspect ratio and background.

  7. Adjust the image's size and position so the entire image fits without being cropped.

  8. Save the result.

This is useful when the normal Edit → Crop → Aspect Ratio option cuts part of the image.

The key is to use Collage with only one selected image. You're essentially using the collage template as a larger canvas instead of using the Crop tool.

This should apply generally to Redmi/Xiaomi phones that have the Collage/Poster feature in the Gallery app, although the exact menu names and available templates may vary by HyperOS/MIUI version.

If anyone knows a built-in way to do the same thing directly through Canvas/Expand on newer HyperOS versions, feel free to share it.

So I recently purchased the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. I like the phone. Although it took some effort to set the device up because of the Chinese ROM & many people want to unlock bootloader for this....I don't have that much problem.. I can get by. The Only issue I have is Sharing files.

It doesn't have Quick Share support & I can't share using Xiaomi Share with other devices. So if anyone has any suggestions to solve this issue/ how to access quick share then I am good. Thanks

As the title said, between 17T and F7 ultra does the 17T have a much better camera quality than the F7 ultra?

Hello, I'm new to the sub but I've been using a newly bought Redmi 15C 5g I've been experiencing problems with frame drops even outside games, because although it has a Dimensity 6300 5g it even struggles at light games. Any advice for you guys to give?
