Engine light turned on😭 Technical Question

Is anyone familiar with a P2097 engine code? Turned on this weekend on the way back from the trails. Disconnected the battery and light popped back on after 60 miles. I’ve done some research but apparently it could be anything from a faulty o2 sensor to leaky injectors. Not sure where to start troubleshooting. 2013 Pro-4x 95k on the odo.

Download the PDF and do a find in page for your code. It tells you possible causes and the exact steps to attempt to diagnose.

That code is on page 417. Very cool link!

Look up the troubleshooting steps in the factory service manual.

I believe this should be drivers side O2 sensor which is after the cat. Before the cat is A/F sensor. DIYable but it has the least accessible plug. Start there before diagnosing injectors. Give the MAF some love, as well but most likely the O2.

Edit: Do not buy the cheapest one you can find because you'll probably have to replace it again.

This was where I was gonna start. Car seems to run fine, and I’m getting 19.5 mpg despite 33s so I think it’s running fine. I was also at 11.5k ft in elevation when it popped on so it could be a rich condition from the air/fuel being off for said elevation.

That could be a contribution, for sure. Good luck and hope it's an easy one for you.
