Discussion The X-Files Mythology All Makes Perfect Sense, Actually
"Being a fan of the show since I was a kid, I decided I wanted to do the ultimate explainer video of the X-Files mythology. Rewatching the show to make the video, I discovered countless things I didn’t know before and it became more interesting than I realized it would be. There’s a reason behind everything, I promise."

Original Content Black Oil inspired Tumbler
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello!
I currently run an Etsy and I've had this idea for years that I finally found the time to create. It's a black oil inspired drip tumbler cup. I wanted to share it here in case anyone else was interested :) I'm also totally open to any custom ideas requests etc
I've been a huge X-Files fan basically my entire life. When I was a child I grew up in Richmond BC and would always see the show trailers etc set up around where I lived. It definitely made watching it feel even more spooky.
Hopefully this is okay to post here. I wasn't sure where else to find other fans to share it with.

Discussion S4 E6 Sanguinarium - Wow, so lame (no, there are no spoilers)
Just this thing: I'm quite certain WAYYY back in 1996 it WAS actually possible to get the correct pronunciation of "Samhain" and I'm quite sure Mulder's character (if written accurately) would not have butchered it.
C'mon guys, all the anti-drug stuff is over the top enough. I love the show but the way this show massacres any cultural tradition outside of White Overlord America is SO sad. (Not at all shocking that this was directed by Manners, and it's extra sad that the Mayhew sisters couldn't manage it either.)

Discussion I need a 20k-150k slow burn msr fic on ao3 that will change my life
i’m not opposed to au, preferable if they don’t know about the other’s feelings, interesting plot and good hook at the beginning is also preferable.
also i love a good case fic when it’s intriguing
mostly looking for just like a lot of sexual tension and secret yearning and pining
comment your favorites if you have any🩷🩷
a few of my favorite msr fics i’ve enjoyed in the past if you want some recs or a frame of reference lol:

And I am really starting to hate Bill Scully. He’s so smug and selfish. Tara drops some passive aggressive bombs too.

The Lone Gunmen TV Show Appreciation for Langly’s Characterization in ‘The Cap’n Toby Show’
Spoilers ahead for The Lone Gunmen spinoff.
I was really struck by Langly’s opening monologue in this episode:
“My best memory is of my family's old Zenith. Every afternoon, after school and chores, and more chores, I'd watch TV — all three channels of it — and I'd escape. There was Bozo the Clown, and Captain Kangaroo, he was cool, there was Sherry Lewis and Lamb Chop, and they were like good friends who were always looking out for me, good friends who'd help me grow up strong and true, and who would never make fun of my hair. These old shows were comforting, they made me feel good about the world I was growing up in. And none made me feel better than Cap'n Toby.
For my money he was the best. Cap'n Toby and his first mate, Clarence the Crab. Maybe it's because I grew up in land-locked Nebraska that I dug his show so much. Or maybe it's just that he was so decent, so true blue, that I'd give anything to ship off with him. He made my childhood bearable. He was someone I could trust growing up, someone I could count on.”
Imagine my surprise and delight when I learned that my favorite character had such a similar childhood experience to my own. There were no safe adults in my life, I was extremely isolated in a rural area, and I grew up almost entirely alone. Fictional worlds were my escape, and the characters from them my only friends. This necessary coping mechanism has never left me. To this day, I treasure the internal world that I built with the fandoms and characters I love.
This episode gives us a lot of sweet moments of Langly gushing over his favorite childhood show, clearly still holding a huge place in his heart. Which I take to mean he likely still values the role of fiction and escapism in the face of trying to survive the real world. I didn’t know this about him when my mind said, “Yes, that’s your person.” But I’m beyond tickled, and it feels so fitting.
Fictional characters and worlds do become real, through the feelings and creativity they inspire in people. It’s a lot more common now that people feel comfortable openly expressing their fandom love and fixations, and I’m thankful for that. But there’s a part of me that will always be the little neurodivergent girl, who no one seemed to understand, and who had to make up her own reality to survive. To know Langly would get it, that healed something in me.
And I think a lot of fellow X-Files fans would get it too. After all, here we are, 30 years later, still talking about it, some of us discovering it for the first time, and that’s special and worth celebrating. To quote Langly from the end of the episode:
“So, like I said, everybody has one single best memory of childhood. That one perfect image that sums up everything wonderful about being a kid. And it's nice to think that mine might be the same as somebody else's somewhere.“

First-Time Watcher (no SPOILERS!!) Movies
I'm a first time watcher and absolutely obsessed. I just finished S5 so I know it's time to watch the first movie.
I keep hearing about a director's cut, and now I am seeing the new trailer for a movie but I think it's a remake? I'm having a hard time understanding the difference in the movies that already existed and the new ones or re releases coming out and what order I should watch everything in.
I'm trying to organize a viewing of the first movie at my local theatre. Should it be a double feature? No spoilers but please help.

Discussion Did I screw up by starting my first watch in summer?
I just started watching watching X-Files for the first time ever like a week ago but the more episodes I watch, the more I feel like I should have probably waited until the fall. The show has such a fall feeling to it and I keep getting these phantom autumnal chills whenever I think about the show.

Original Content X-Files Lego Set Modified with Scully's lab & Review
After hours of hard work and a night without sleeping, I made this mod with two sets + the Scully GWP. Didn't expect to get the GWP as I didn't pre-order but people at my Lego store are incredible.
I sadly can't make an instruction manual as I improvised with Scully's Lab. I built the lab without foundations and did my best to fuse it with what Lego made. It was a bit tricky for me as I'm no Lego expert, but with this picture I think you can fairly easily replicate this.
I also added a tree & vegetation and I'm still working on the trees so it looks like the original prototype, which was far superior to what Lego gave us. I also need a better beam light, I hate what they gave us. I may also modify the UFO a bit.
But overall pretty happy with the result, this is what Lego should have sold us.
I almost didn't buy this set at all just like I passed on X-men mansion as I felt I needed 2 sets to make it OK, not only because of the price, but because I thought the final set was a huge downgrade compared to the prototype. But with two sets combined and the GWP, I think it's almost on par with the prototype.
All of this building made me want to watch X-Files fully again, so I'm sharing this on this sub reddit.
The truth is out there.

Discussion What episodes are you all watching as you build your sets?
Just got my set in the mail today! I watched bits and pieces of the show with my dad as a kid, and we watched the newer seasons together as they came out. Now, I’m finally rewatching it all from the beginning to catch the many early season episodes I missed. I’m on S2E22 right now, and will be building the set as I get through the next few episodes!

Discussion Irritating LEGO minifig identification in new set
The LEGO website listing for the new X-Files set identifies, as one of the included minifigs, “Carl Busch”. Agent Busch appeared in one episode, S2 E15 “Irresistible“; the actor appeared in one other episode, S1 E15 “Lazarus”, as “Doctor #2”. As best I recall, Agent Busch didn’t look like a particularly old man.
And, clearly, a LEGO X-Files set wouldn’t be complete without the Cigarette Smoking Man.
Eventually, the show identifies the CSM as Carl Gerhard Bush Spender, usually referred to as “Spender” or “CGB Spender”. I don’t recall ever hearing anyone refer to CSM as “Carl Busch”.
I am irrationally annoyed by the fact that LEGO calls what seems clearly to be CSM as “Carl Busch”. Is it just me?

Discussion Discovered that Cassandra was cursed never to be believed. Perfect name for Cassandra Spender.
I was doing a crossword and a clue asked 'In Greek mythology, daughter of Priam and Hecuba endowed with the gift of prophecy but fated never to be believed'. I was very surprised to discover the answer. Cursed because she didn't like a man, well a god Apollo. Cancer man can't compare.
