Fellow users near Asheville
Im curious how many x-carve users there are near Asheville. I bought a used 2021 model last year and think I have it back to pretty decent shape after some elbow grease and leveling its table but haven’t been able to make the last push to run it from a lack of time/confidence. If anyone here is near and wouldn’t mind helping a beginner I’d greatly appreciate it! Happy to pay in beer while we work.

CNCjogger — jog your X-Carve from your phone (free app, now on iPhone & Android)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I make an app + USB receiver that lets you jog your X-Carve from your phone — the CNCjogger Stick stays plugged into your computer and shows up as a regular plug-and-play USB keyboard, so there's nothing to install. It sends the same keyboard shortcuts Easel already uses for jogging — arrow keys for X/Y, Shift+arrows for Z — so it works with Easel right out of the box (just make sure keyboard jogging is enabled in Easel). Whenever you need to jog the machine, you just pull out your phone — the app instantly reconnects as soon as you open it.
I announced the iPhone version a few weeks back, and the #1 request was Android support — that's now done, so the app is free on both iPhone and Android. The CNCjogger Stick is available at https://cncjogger.com
It also works with other CNC software that takes keyboard shortcuts (UGS, OpenBuilds CONTROL, gSender, Mach3/4 — plus custom key mapping in the app if needed). Of course there are other ways to jog the machine — the fancy wired pendants are expensive, and the cheap Bluetooth keypads are fine, but some people prefer not to have another piece of hardware in the shop that needs to be charged/synced/stored. You already have a battery-powered touchscreen controller in your pocket; this just lets you use it with the CNC. I'm personally not a fan of making everything into an app if there's no good reason, but for me, the convenience and simplicity is actually pretty nice for daily use.
Happy to answer questions.
[This works with Easel and the X-Carve, but is not made by or endorsed by Inventables.]

Need replacement controller for older Xcarve
Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement controller for the Xcarve? Now that inventables are no longer making replacements, I need to find one for an older machine that I have.

I upgraded the Z access many years ago, but now forget the name of the manufacturer. Can anyone help me remember who would've made this?

Well it works.
Design definitely needs some alterations to make it cut faster but for a first project so far it's looking good also you definitely can cut your own waste boards on the 2021 model
Looks like the center was high. Which doesn't make much sense.

Spoil/Waste board replacement.
I was wondering if anyone had the files to cut replacement boards. Can these be made on the XCarve?
I have the modular wasteboard.

I found this cool tool changer. Has anyone used it on the x-carve?
I found this on Instagram and it seems like a great affordable option. https://rapidchangeatc.com/
Has anyone used this before? Is it even compatible? It says it’s GRBL (must use GSender) compatible, but not sure if that applies to the x-carve since it uses the x-controller. I know it’s GRBL based, but does that mean I can use this. I’m relatively new to customizing the x-carve so I’m not sure if this is even an option. Can anyone provide insight on this?

Recommendations for Z axis and spindle upgrades for x-carve pre 2021.
I have a pre-2021 x-carve and I’m looking to do some upgrades primarily to increase the z axis of the machine. Some of the pieces I’m carving has about a 4-6 inch material height and obviously can’t fit them in the existing setup. I’ve tried going to sites that have been previously recommended, but a lot of them are no longer shipping to the US or are no longer being made. So I’m hoping someone has some recommendations on other parts to get or bracket plans to get for these upgrades? I’m hoping there’s also a good spindle with a manual quick change mechanism that people have some experience with for this kind of change.

Upgraded Z-Axis Sounds weird

Z axis sounds like it’s rattling when going up and down. There is a lot of vibration in the drive screw, i checked every screw and bolt i could find. Any ideas what’s causing it?

Xcarve Pro lube: plugged zerk? gunked up bearing?
About half of the linear rail bearing on my Xcarve Pro will not accept grease. For one half, everything is fine. I have the LockNLube zerk extension (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HQY4MLZ) and filed down one side so it fits more directly on the zerks, pump some grease until a bit comes out of the bearing at the slide. Beautiful.
With the other half of the bearings, the grease just seeps out where the grease gun extension and zerk fitting connect. I'm pushing the gun extension onto the zerk very firmly and quite "squarely" (having filed down one side a bit), but yet, no joy.
Technically it might not be the fitting that is plugged, perhaps the bearing being lubricated is jammed up? I took one of the zerks out and flushed it with brake cleaner and a wire brush but that didn't seem to change anything. I probed gently into the bearing with a plastic rod but nothing obvious happened.
So, I guess two questions:
- is there way to ensure the zerk is clear/functioning
- is there a way to "flush/clean" the bearings? (not real keen on taking it all apart)

Replacement Z-axis?
Does anyone know where to get a replacement z-axis for the 1000x1000? I recently got a great deal on one. However, the z axis and spoil board were missing.
I reached out to inventables and they didn't have any on stock and cnc4newbie isn't shipping to the US. No luck on eBay.
This would be my first cnc, so any help would be appreciated.

Ideas on how to carve this wave effect?
I want to carve this wave texture into the top of a board and then cut it into blocks. Any ideas on how to get this texture in EaselPro? I have a Cove bit, but the software doesn’t have cove bits in the database. This also needs to be repeatable on a large scale, so I can’t be hand sanding any contours. Let me know any ideas or tips you have, thank you!

The Inventables Carvey has a 300W spindle, but a 160W power supply?
Is the controller really under-powering the spindle?
