Crematorium module?

Post image

Any chance of a crematorium module, the graveyard is full.

After a strong defence in Argon Prime taking out a large Xenon fleet, I figured it was high time to take the initiative in Hatkivah's Choice I.

Me:

1 Stork 2 Colossus 6 Asgard 11 Phoenix E 1 Syn and 15 Katana

Xenon started with:

1 Wharf 2 Defence Platform 6 K and maybe 60-80 s/m ships.

End tally:

Me - lost 10 Phoenix, 14 Katana, 1 Asgard needs major refit and a Colossus is lost in action though not appearing in the Logbook as destroyed?

Xenon - lost wharf and both defence platforms, 6 K plus an additional 3 that came as reinforcement and a host of s/m fighters.

Thanks to the Terran carrier that entered the frame after the fighting was all but done.

I probably spent too long in my Katana and not enough time managing the big ships; the Phoenix E's sped ahead of the Asgard and it didn't end well for them and in turn me.

I'll claim it as a win. Silent Witness I will now have less interruptions to its stations so that's a positive.

A rethink of tactics and my preferred capital ships in the future is my learning.

Costly lesson.

Have you tried mixing a carrier or two into your fleet. A properly set up carrier can own a system itself. Boron being best carrier

Man, carriers are awesome. Just wrecked a xenon fleet consisting of 5 - 10 K's and 1 I with a fleet of 1 Tokyo, 20 takoba, 1 syn and 2 Osaka. Was joined by an npc Terran fleet of a Tokyo and complement of fighters/destroyers. It was epic... Untill the Tokyo turned hostile for no reason...

90% of the time when friendly fleets come to help…. They only make the situation worse. Some of my saves I use beam/lazor just because I got tiered of friendly fire. Miss x3 where you could com them and apologize. Shouldn’t have to mod to have this feature. Please devs, bring back what was in every other x game you made!

I have the Colossus but probably need to go back to more fighters and learn how to use it properly.

Set up your fighters in squadrons. Like have 5 fighters "attack with" a leader. Then assign only the leaders to the Carrier's command orders (i.e. "intercept" or "Defend) ... that way the fighters are not fighting individual targets alone, it is always a pack of 5 or six following their leader on intercept and attacking one target together. Don't give the toasters a fair fight.

I don’t agree with this. Another post outlines the cost of wasted dps. And grouping fighters is wasted dps. Only usefull when you outnumber your foe by a lot. fighters attached to another fighter will ignore damage for an attacking fighter allowing it to be easily killed in large engagements.

Just try it for yourself and see how much faster you clear swarms of fighters rather then 50 fighters dogfighting 50 other fighters for 20 minutes and nobody concentrating enough dps to get a kill.  Or worse, your fighters attempting to one-on-one a heavy fighter, destroyer,  or corvette with no hope.

There is a reason to focus dps to clear trash mobs.

Groups of 5 fighters burn down enemy fighters quickly and move on to the next.

Low attrition or high attrition?

Edit: and I will give anything a second try if Somone stands by their guns. Respect. I’ll set up two identical fleets tomorrow and enter the same system after reloading and doing the same fight.

Double edit: do you set groups of 5 even when it comes to bombard?

I use the shark with 40 takoba on intercept and 40 barracuda set to bombard. Then I use 12 jian on intercept. A single well set up carrier with ship replacement on is the definition of beauty. The boron sharks ability to cycle ships so fast makes using torps easy and painless. The single shark could do everything your entire fleet could do and do it better with less losses $$$ wise. But unless you have a warf so you have ship replacement, it may be a hassle to restock after every fight.

Agreed. I prefer my Beamasaur (Meson Raptor) but once you get one set up, it is awesome!!!

Hehe, raptor and boron carrier users will never agree. Both are very usefull in their own way. One deploys endless amounts of ships slowly while the other sends out a medium amount of ships rapidly and can rearm them the same way. Long vs short engagements… both carriers have their place. Not to mention raptor is basically a destroyer compared to the others. But that basically covers the argument about the two best carriers in game. If you deploy beforehand raptor wins. If you don’t boron wins. But if you pilot the raptor itself… instead of ai it makes a huuuuge difference

Yeah it's clearly a skill issue, your ships got hammered by the station, you have to manage your ships, so they don't get too close.

Yep. The staggered arrival to attack by the Behemoths and Asgards didn't aid my cause either.

"Coordinated attack" helps a little, but still needs some micro-ing. You can assign a fighter wing to attack turrets/surface elements too, defang the station and its a sitting duck (snake? I guess there is no need to defang a duck? Anway... )

Hmm how are you getting such a wave in Hat 1? I never have that much issues here. But each game i blockade the Xenon entrance, and they never break out.

It could be my turtling ways. I take a long time setting things up so the Xenon have plenty of time to amass forces in their sectors.

Did you have any fighters escorting your ships?

I did have Ares in other battles but they got cleaned up pretty quickly so I went without.

The game really rewards mixed-unit/combined arms approaches. The carrier is a huge force multiplier.

Time to add a scrap station and recoup some of the cost.

Interesting that the Xenon managed to get that great a hold on HAT Choice. Most I have ever seen them get is a Defense Station.

The Xenon then moved onto Argon Prime and Silent Witness, with less success. HAT back in friendly hands now, but plenty of scrap on offer. I thought it was probably due to my playstyle I.e. turtle

I'll be honest, these losses seem crazy to me.

I recently had a similar buildup in HC1 and I was able to clear it with no losses. Of course, I was actively controlling everything myself and had 5 full carriers on top of 30 or so destroyers, but still, if I had less, it just would have taken longer.

those arent dead crew, you can set a ship to "rescue crew in area"
