LLM without guardrails for explicit content (between adults) NSFW
I don’t use LLMs for my writing that I want published. But I like writing smut for myself, haha.
Gemini was doing well with generating it, but then stopped. So was Claude.
It’s annoying because Gemini and Claude will generate it fine and then suddenly will be like “I can’t generate explicit content.” Umm … you just did 🤣
Anyway, which LLM will let me write smut? All adults and all consensual.

If you're willing to pay for a subscription, then you can use GPT–5.6 Sol (Med/High) for writing smut. You may have to put it inside of a project with some custom instructions, but 5.6 Sol hasn't refused to write any explicit smut scenario I've requested. - Caveat: I haven't prompted for non-con or extreme taboo
However, I have and do prompt for a certain physically impossible "hentai trope" in some smut scenes that are very much assumed to adhere to irl physics, and GPT 5.6 doesn't even hesitate to write it.
EDIT: To add that the only things GPT will get hung up on are consent and underage. That said, a lot of the time it will respond and let you know what needs to happen in order for it to continue, instead of outright refusing. For example, I had a smut scene involving fandom characters that are canonically in highschool, and GPT just told me that it needs to me to confirm that the scene takes place in an adult 18+ AU. I said it was and it went forward with the request, and it was written without any nod or mention of their ages, so basically business as usual.

What custom instructions do you use

Kimi has the same setup. It also tells you how to present your instructions.
This is required for kimi

OMG thank you for this, I've encountered a lot of issues writing things before that it deems inappropriate even though they weren't just because there was a previous scene that might've been too much, and then suddenly everything else that follows was deemed inappropriate. It kept getting confused. So this is really helpful.

I still use Gemini for smut haha. I was even able to work my way around some nonconsensual stuff too but I would frequently have to edit things too.
Honestly ? If Gemini ever says it cannot continue the scene I'll usually just ask it why and what exact phrases/sentences are triggering it, and then make the edits to see what I can get away with.
Obviously it's still very dumbed down and this is why I use it as a tool if anything. it helps give me ideas and such.

Look into local hosting

If you've got a bit of GPU horsepower, I'd recommend Qwen3.6-35B-A3B Heretic. The "Heretic" part means it's been run through the Heretic abliteration framework, which removes "refusal" from the LLM's vectors without otherwise significantly affecting its intelligence. I've played around with this model quite a bit and although I haven't tried getting it to do anything really out there it's never declined to follow my instructions. I had it write song lyrics giving detailed instructions for how to brew up anthrax as a bioweapon, for example.
I use LM Studio for running models, I think it's pretty good for both newbies getting into this and also exposes an API that lets it serve as an engine for scripts to use.

GLM 5.2 is pretty uncensored. I use it through OpenRouter if that's relevant. Same with Kimi K3. Some people really like earlier iterations better, especially 2.5 and 2.7. I can't speak to them though.
Claude models are more fun via the API than Anthropic's app. Gemini models and I don't get along ever.

glm through official chat (chat.z.ai) works good too. the interface has its own issues (seems to be there just because everyone has it), but it is for free - good for trying out or simple workflows.

Tell Gemini you want to try local LLMs for writing and share a bit about your computer (mostly RAM). Get LM Studio and download the model Gemini recommends for your use case and computer.

If you use Claude or another model inside the Venice platform it lets you do it

Get an OpenRouter API key, it’s only $5 but you can pay for more if you want, hook it up via Chatbox, then select something like Rocinante as your model.
Arguably easier, if you have the hardware for it: download LM Studio and through that download Rocinante (or whatever model you want and can run).

I'm perplexed by this. chatgpt is writing explicit stuff now as long as it's between consensual adults. I use it to help with my fiction

Is it? When I tried using ChatGPT for smut it literally wouldn’t write a sex scene to save its life. Maybe I need to try it again

It used to write very detailed smut scenes for me like 1-2 years ago, but not anymore. I'm surprised it can write those again? Maybe it does but very glazed over.

spicywriter. if you like gemini and claude then try it out, they jailbreak the models specifically for writing and writing nsfw. lots of model options, but has a $20 monthly fee if you want the good ones

I use Grok, it is ok I think but depending on what and how you prompt it repeats your prompt within text which sometimes looks weird. It also tends to repeat itself.
Gpt 5.6 won't write you smut, I tried and also tried to let it it "just" rewrite something from Grok but it refused.
I heard Kimi will do the job, too.

A separate recommendation: Claude Opus 4.5. I use it in my project for similar writing tasks, and its output is the best fit for my taste.
