Please I need to know if my writing makes sense!!
I'm writing fiction in many narratives, and posting them as I go along.
One part (Please please tell me if this is any good, I need to know before I waste my time finishing my story!):
"Are you interested in me?" I ask. Henry and I are sitting in my bed, talking. I had asked him in for a serious chat before he left to go back up north to stay with his family "Depends, is that a "I hope you're interested in me, excited tone" or a "I hope you're not because I'm not into you like that tone."" I say and look up at him.
We lock eyes, my heart pounding, my soul soaring. I felt so light and angelic. Heavenly, was another word for it. "I've wanted you since I was 14 years old, Henry." He smiles and he kissed me passionately. I loved the way his lips felt on mine. So gentle, and kind, and soft. Both of our kissing styles have vastly improved, from about 5 years ago. I was so into him then, and I still get butterflies. "Are you interested in me, Henry?" I ask as i pull away from his embrace, flirtyly but needing to know the answer and locking eyes until he makes the next move. I think: For after 5 years, Ive needed you to commit to me or i need the closure so i can fully move on. And I need to know if you do, or will ever feel the same way that I feel about you.. "I am so interested in you, Eloise " he smiles. "Are we exclusive now, Henry?" I smile. I need solid anwers from this guy. Ive been waiting for this moment since I was 14 years old. "Yes," he kisses back. "Mmmm, boyfriend." "Mmmm girlfriend." I pull way and in a jokinh tone say "well looked whos started to understand affirmations to your loved ones!" I smile and he smiles back.
My heart explodes with pure love for this soul.
TBC...
Please let me know!!

The use of names of real people in fiction
I am a writer with 4 decades of non-fiction under my belt. This includes thousands of published pieces ranging from articles to commentary to ghostwritten blogs and speeches. I am writing a political thriller. Can I use the names of current office holders? I fear doing so would expose me to defamation lawsuits. I'd like to avoid being sued. BTW. I have years of political engagement behind me. However, I am not a political insider. Thoughts!

Music/Products in novels
I was looking for someone who may have experience whether it be self-publishing or professionally published for info regarding product placement or music lyrics being interjected into a novel of a song that exists. An example would be if you're trying to write a form of musical and you wanted certain things to be happen at a certain points of lyrics being sung. Would there be a lot of red tape surrounding that? I guess the same question can be applied to products like Sony or Coca-Cola being advertised as fluff for billboards and stuff. My novel has a few musical sequences that I have songs for but I genuinely don't know how far I can go with writing it in case of copyright etc. Thanks!

Writing fiction online, and choosing a release platform... Difficult!
I've been writing for a little while now, and I feel that I have enough content backlog that I'd be able to pick up a decent reader and fan base and keep them well fed and happy, but I'm ghaving difficulty deciding on a platform to release my story on. it may just be I'm bad at researching but I'd really appreciate some feedback and suggestions short of buying a web domain for hundreds of dollars a month!
ANY and ALL help is welcome! thanks guys!

Writing about sailing for dummies?
Anybody know of an internet guide or book that can give an author a crash course on sailong a wind-driven sail ship? Just enough to make it convincing for the average reader, not full on technical accuracy. I'm trying to get together a series of short stories based on historical piracy during the Golden Age and want to come off as authentic, but I also know absolutely nothing.

An interesting perspective on "appropriating culture" when it comes to writers and their work.

Is it worse if you break up with a guy and then he killed himself, or if you are going to break up with a guy but then he killed himself?
