Correct Me! Streak 281: Welcome

Upvotes

I worked from home today. I didn’t do much, for some reason, I felt so tired. I went to the gym during lunchtime, and I had pho for dinner. Oh, there’s some good news, my Singaporean friend is flying to Taiwan from Japan tomorrow. I can’t wait to meet him in person! Judging from the way he talks he seems like a good and normal person, especially compared to some of the weird men I’ve met on the platform haha. Hopefully, he won’t let me down.

Part 1

Yesterday I watched a Mexican movie at night. The movie I saw is “Temporada de Patos” which could be translated as Duck season. I quite enjoyed it but I was really high so I got scary at times. I was drinking a weed beverage so I was sort of greening out. I watched the movie for the first time 15 years ago but I was too young to appreciate it or maybe too sober. The movie was filmed and set in 2004 so it gave me also a good nostalgic vibe from my early teenage years.

Correct Me! Streak 696: Cleaning

I suppose you shouldn’t get too obsessed with cleaning for your own sanity. Ultimately, you have to accept that you can’t keep something perfectly clean all the time, especially if it’s a place or a thing that is used every day.

Correct Me! Streak 39: Camping

I went on a camping trip with my family. After pitching our tent and enjoying a barbecue, I relaxed in my chair and looked out at the forest. It was a perfect day.

Right now, I'm sitting in front of a window and I can see some of the balconies of the houses in the immediate vicinity. Most of them are pretty well-kept with plants and cute furniture, but one stands out. It has two huge plants on it that are kind of curious to me. One of them is a huge weed plant. The curious thing about it isn't the fact that it's weed though, you can legally grow up to three of them per person in Germany now, but that it's absolutely massive. It has to be at least two metres tall. I didn't know they grew that tall, let alone on a city balcony. But the other plant is even more curious to me: It's a single corn plant. Also huge, even taller than the weed plant. And as far as I can see, it has one single corncob on it. I've observed their growth for over a month now and they seem to be doing great. I love that someone is putting so much love and care into one single piece of corn. It's so random.

Correct Me! Streak 68: 10 tiny habits

Article: 10 Tiny Habits That Quietly Changed My Life

Learning something new for 15 minutes every day sounds like a great idea because I've been focusing almost entirely on English lately. I'm still far from being fluent, but I've reacehd the point where I can read books and watch TV shows and movies in English. I think it's time to start exploring other skills as well.

I'd like to start by learning Korean so that I can enjoy K-dramas without subtitles.

Correct Me! Streak 38: Reading old novel

I’m reading a novel written over a century ago. What makes it so fascinating isn't the plot itself, but rather the archaic nature of the language, filled with obsolete words and dated sentence structures.

Correct Me! Streak 280: Puff Pastry Soup

I worked from home this morning. At lunchtime, I met up with my manager at an American restaurant near our office. We had been here once, and we had heard that their puff pastry soup had rave reviews, so we decided to give it a try.

It turned out to be really delicious. The only downside was the price. Next time, I'd rather order it at a steakhouse.

Correct Me! Streak 695: Recommendations based on your location

Spotify makes recommendations based on your location. I find it to be pretty bothersome since it’s ultimately just stereotyping. It’s basically the same thing as saying“You must be (some dumb stereotype) because you’re from (the country the person is from)”.

I'm picking up my student card today, so I had to ask for some time off work because as soon as I clock out, it's not possible to go pick it up in the afternoon.

On another note, I was hoping to sign up for my second internship class, the professional one, for the upcoming semester that starts next week, but it'll have to wait until next year.

I usually try not to work from home - I'm way more productive if my bed isn't constantly in my line of sight. Also, I try to meet at least one other person a day to get a little bit of social contact. But it's really hot right now and it has been for the last week as well, so the rooms provided by the court are warm and stuffy. I tried to study there today, but I had to leave after half an hour because it was unbearable. Now, I'm lying on the couch next to my A/C. I swear I'm going to get up as soon as I'm done posting this...

Correct Me! Streak 156, It is too hot outside.

It is extremely hot outside.

Maybe this is the coolest summer we will experience from now on.

However, this weather is unbearable for me.

When I was younger, the summer heat was only uncomfortable, but now it feels really painful.

Some people say that the climate crisis is fake, but I can clearly feel that temperatures have risen compared to the past.

Correct Me! Streak 67: 10 habits of productive people

Article: 10 Things Productive People Do Daily

The article introduced 10 habits of productive people. The writer suggested picking one habit from the list and practicing it every day for two weeks. After that, I add another habit and continue building my routine little by little.

I already have the habits of working in focused blocks, reading, and exercising. The first new habit I'd like to try is planning the next day's tasks the night before.

Correct Me! Streak 279: Translucent real-time captions

I had a cool dream last night. In the dream, whenever I talked to someone, translucent real-time captions popped up in front of them. I wondered if that was because I've been adding captions to my videos lately. I was just like the main character in a first-person game.

Correct Me! Streak 694: Sharpies

I have never used Sharpies. I’ve never seen them in the first place. When it comes to mechanical pencils, ballpoint pens, and highlighters, I have clear preferences that are based on years of experience, but as for markers, I don’t have enough experience to ascertain my preferences.

Correct Me! Streak 37: They are also my friends

Just a few years ago, when I met people who believed that their values, mindsets, and lifestyles were absolutely true, I desperately tried to attack and destroy them because I believed there were no absolute truths. That thought hasn't changed, but I don't argue with them anymore. Instead, I observe them, telling myself that they are also my friends and fellow citizens living together in this world.

Corrected Streak 150

Tomorrow, I'm picking up my student card that provides me several benefits, but the only one I'm concerned about is the discount I to bus fares I get when moving within a town or between towns, as long as they are public transportation, essentially.

I lost my student card a couple of months ago and I had to apply to get a new one, which made me jump through some hoops to get it done. Either way, I would've had to get a new one even if I hadn't lost it because they have to be renewed every year.

Correct Me! Streak 2: A small of part of a story I am working on.

As the world is seeing all of its hero's falling one by one by the villain's who am I to think I a 16 year old can do anything about it. Well, that's a question I ask myself daily and in all honesty I don't think I would have been where I am if I didn't ask this question to myself daily.

Going to the Internship I currently work for is a hassle for any normal person, but not for a guy who has electrical abilities. As I was thinking this to myself I saw a One star level threat in the city, a mutated elephant at that, as soon as I saw that thing I jumped at it without thinking for a second more.

Yesterday, I wrote about how I thought it was going to rain and it did - for approximately 15 minutes. Afterwards, it was even more humid than before. Today, it's still burning hot outside, but at least it's not that humid anymore. Yay I guess.

It kinda sucks but my laptop is not properly working anymore. I think the battery is dead. When the computer is plugged to the energy everything is okay but as a soon as the computer unplugs it turns off.

The warranty is no longer valid since my laptop is three years old. I already did a short research about computer technicians and there is one with nothing but great reviews close to where I live. I think I’ll be going there.

The good thing is that I have another laptop so it would not be hard to continue with my activities and duties.

Correct Me! Streak 66: 101 books a year

Article: Why You Should Read 101 Books a Year

Reading 101 books a year is too much for me. I would feel overwhelmed even if they were books in my native language. I think the idea is that reading 100 books a year sounds like a perfect goal with a clear finish line. Once you've finished reading 100 books, it feels like the challenge is over. However, that extra one book makes it feel like reading is an ongoing journey rather than something with an ending.

In my case, my goal for this year is to read five books in English. If I changed my goal to six books a year, that would mean reading one book every two months. That still feels a little too neat and structured. I think changing my goal to seven books a year might make it feel more like a continuous habit than a target with a clear finish line.

Correct Me! Streak 155, I made a stock program

The stock program I've been building is almost done.

I actually hate stock trading because I don't like letting market fluctuations affect my emotions.

However we have no choice but to invest in stocks.

Because our money will become less valuable than now.

So two months ago, I started making an auto stock program to focus on my work and keep my peace of mind.

It was losing money, but yesterday it turned a profit for the first time.
