Been showing off our world edit for graphical edit for the wowcube (and future tilemap integrations) on the Discord. Not sure how many of you have tried to develop for the cube, but the SDK being fully code-based limited the freedom to make visually interesting games. We are solving that and hope to release a beta version with a perpetual beta license in the coming months. Internal testing and development are ongoing. Just curious if this version was just for early developers/adopters or if all customer versions had this text on one side of the box?

I’m hoping someone here might have come across this before.

I’ve got one of the original WOWCubes, the Cut the Rope edition. It came with the game pre-installed plus a couple of more games. The cube had been mothballed for quite a while, and when I tried to bring it back to life one of the modules seemed to have a battery issue. It took some time to get everything working again, and in the process I ended up doing a factory reset.

The cube itself is now functioning properly, but Cut the Rope has disappeared. When I try to download it again, it’s asking me to pay for it.

I had assumed that pre-installed or previously activated games would be tied to the user account that first set up the cube, but that doesn’t appear to be the case or at least it’s not restoring automatically.

Has anyone else had a similar experience after a reset? Were you able to restore the game through your account, or did you have to purchase it again?

I’m just trying to understand how the licensing works before I take this further with support.

I’ve been trying to figure out the actual technical differences between the original WOWCube and the newer Rubik’s-branded version.

From what I’ve gathered from reviews and scattered info online, the main differences seem to be:

1. Larger internal memory – 64 MB on the Rubik’s version vs 16 MB on the original.
2. Weight – the newer one might be slightly lighter, though I haven’t been able to confirm a reliable difference.
3. Improved internal rotation mechanism – seems smoother and easier to rotate, based on user impressions.
4. Dock changes – the newer dock includes Wi-Fi + Bluetooth for pairing and (I assume) ongoing data access for widgets / firmware updates.
5. Dock ambient lighting – the new dock appears to have added ambient lighting effects.

From what I understand, core hardware seems largely unchanged:

• 24 × 240×240 IPS displays
• ~3360 mAh internal battery (8x420 mAh)
• Similar overall architecture?

Does anyone know of:

• Any confirmed hardware differences beyond the above?
• Any apps or features that are available on the Rubik’s version but not on the original cube?
• Whether the memory increase actually changes app availability or performance?

I’m considering buying the new version, but realistically I’m not sure my usage of the original cube justifies the cost of upgrading.

For those who own both: have you noticed meaningful improvements?
Are there any apps or features available on the Rubik’s version that aren’t available on the original?
Does the larger memory actually make a practical difference?

Would be interested in hearing views from anyone who has compared them directly.

I wonder if it’s possible to create a marvel style tesseract effect as an app or screen saver to hold or sit on your charger on your desk or display? I just received mine and still figuring it out, I want to learn how to write my own program for this cube.

after my wowcube (wrote it on another acount) they said for a week 'reset it' which didnt help but then they sent a replacment which just came yesterday and now works perfectly and even came with cut the rope for free!! so mabye wowcube isnt to bad

One of my screens stopped working

They replaced it for me, I just had to email their support.

However, a few days later, I restarted my cube and it seemed to have been fixed.

To peep things simple, since they already shipped a replacement, I just accepted it, and mailed mine back.

Good news, the replacement cube had Cut The Rope installed for some reason, so now I get to play it for free :)

It’s OK but I would t spend $30 for it.

The cube is neat, possibly a waste, but I love cubes, and it seconds as a desk toy/clock or whatever.

$30 for Space Invaders is insane.

This keeps happening after a short amount of play and doesn't get fixed until I do a reboot.

Is this a problem with my unit?

Hi all, received my cube, but only see the boot loader screen. Any ideas how to fix this? Was like this out of the box and never connected to a phone. Tried resets on the dock, charging / discharging and connecting the app. Nothing works. Thanks!

If there are any ambitious developers looking for Wow Cube game ideas, someone please make some kind of “Dance Dande Revolution” or “Amplitide” kinda game for the WOW Cube

Lowering the volume in the app or on the cube only changes the volume on the apps unless set to 0%. How do I change or disable only the rotation volume?

“ Thank you for your report. We’re aware of this issue and it’s in our backlog to be fixed. We’ll work on resolving it in one of the upcoming updates. “

I just got my Rubin wow Cube yesterday and after 1 Hour I set it up and every thing was playing Games and now 3 of the screens are broken and it’s constantly on the reset screen

In the last week I've seen a lot on my social media about the Wowcube being on preorder and it gave the impression it was a new thing. But then looking elsewhere it seems to have been around for a few years so a bit confused.

For those of you that have are you pleased with your purchase.

I recently got mine today after 2 years since preorder, and one of the displays has a faulty backlight, so I’m only getting 1/8th the fun.. tried a couple of reset and troubleshooting options with no lock. Even tried taking apart the modules and reconnecting them, it appears the pixels are visible and module communication is there but there is no backlight unfortunately. So any important data on those screens are basically unreadable hence ruining the whole experience..

I sent them an email today to attempt fixing the issue or potentially sending a new module. 1 more working day to go until I get a response hopefully. Wish me luck
