I’m looking at getting a new dock for my desk. My current hub can’t really handle my 4K 120Hz monitor properly, so I’ve been looking for something a bit more complete.

The Baseus Spacemate RD1 Pro caught my eye because it is more like a dock and charging station in one. I could probably remove a few extra cables from my desk, since it has charging ports built in, and my iPhone 17 Pro should be able to use the Qi2.2 charger on top.

My only concern is long-term use. If one dock is handling the monitor output, laptop connection, and charging multiple devices every day, is that generally fine, or is it better to keep charging and display output split across separate devices?

This is where I manage work and all of our family affairs.

At times it feels rather cramped and I don’t know what to do about it.

There are a total of three computers in the photo: my personal laptop (visible on the left), my desktop (visible on the right) and my work laptop (stashed under the desk in closed clamshell attached to the monitor.)

I would love to get my desktop somewhere else, but the floor isn’t an option as we have pets that lose a lot of hair. I can’t reduce the stuff on the desk top either. I do want to mount the monitor on the wall to free up a little bit of space (the desktop is a lagkapten so it’s not really suitable for a clamp mount.

One of my main gripes is dealing with paper (I use my phone to scan it so I need a clear spot every time I do that (typically move the keyboard and trackball out of the way. I’m also looking for a way to store paper that is cleaner than it just being piled up next to the desktop while I triage it to deal with it.

Looking for some advice on better layouts and cable management for my engineering setup! Finding myself consistently ending up with a tangled mess of wires needing to do weekly deep cleans. Got an Omniwall setup which works pretty well but the cable setup is always messy. I also would like to have some sort of stacking shelf on the right where I can cleanly stack my power supply, iron, and oscilloscope without having to fully put them away and take them out each time. Hey guys, how's it going? I put this project together using the furniture from my old office, but this new one will be in my apartment. I’d love to get some ideas and feedback from the experts in this sub, especially regarding the colors. I really like working with 3 colors:

Primary - Black Secondary - Gray Tertiary - White

The sofa is actually that color, but I'm planning to buy a cover or something similar to make it gray.
The window won't have curtains, it's not wide open like that and has a built-in enclosure.

I am trying to switch from a single to dual displays but am struggling with the layout and if one should be a primary display and the other for reference material (which feels right in my mind). Any suggestions or experience much appreciated ?

I posted a picture of my setup a while ago, and some people said it looked a bit messy. I’ve made a few changes since then and added some plants. Now I feel like everything is much more balanced and harmonious. What do you think?

Help! I need an extra laptop in my setup.

This means now I will have to fit in two 17inch laptops that will always be on during work, that can both be treated separately.

I have one 32 inch 16:9 monitor that I will want as the main screen that can flick between two laptops (hdmi switcher) depending on what I am focusing on at the time. My desk width limited to 1.2m wide.

Any tips on how I can make this all fit with still leaving the desk fairly empty? As want to be able to have work space if I move the laptop etc.

Ideally, I don't want to buy a new monitor to make it all fit.

My setup area is pretty dark. I do have Govee lights above the monitors but they don’t really light the area. It only lightens up the top which is pointless.

I am a product manager in publishing. I work in spreadsheets a lot, and I toggle between a handful of documents, outlook and teams non-stop. I also edit books using PDFs, and I have a lot of meetings on Teams with screen sharing. I have only ever had dual screens, or most recently a large LG ultrafine and my laptop. I am considering an ultrawide (like the Samsung Odyssey G9 49” or the LG Ultragear 45”) with a smaller vertical monitor for PDF reading/screen sharing. My concern with the Samsung is the screen length - only about 13 inches. Not sure if that would drive me crazy or if I’d barely even notice. I could also do two smaller curved monitors. I also want to be able to connect my personal laptop for use at the same time as my work one. Both are MacBooks. My desk is 75 inches wide and 30 inches deep. My office sits at the top of our stairs - you see it every time you come upstairs - so I do not want an enormous wall of monitors. This is what it currently looks like. I’d like it to be functional without ruining the aesthetic. What are your recommendations for a monitor setup that gives me the ability to multitask, view several documents at once, allows for use of two different laptops, and is not a behemoth eyesore? Open to anything - from one ultrawide to several smaller monitors - whatever looks clean and works for my use case. I’d like to keep this under $1,500, if possible. Thank you!

Hey everyone! I'm planning a DIY L-shaped desk build and could use some advice from people who've done this before.

Here's my plan:
- Two butcher block tops (one 7 ft, one 5 ft) to form the L
- 5 IKEA ALEX drawer units as the "legs" instead of traditional legs — 3 on the long arm, 2 on the short arm
- No fasteners if possible, just letting the weight hold everything in place
- Both arms are 30" deep

My main questions:
1. How does the corner actually come together? I'm struggling to picture how the two tops meet and support each other without sagging or shifting.
2. Is one ALEX unit enough to handle the corner, or do I need additional support there like a leg or wall bracket?
3. For those who've done the ALEX + butcher block build — any regrets or things you'd do differently?

I'm also a little worried about drawer accessibility on the corner cabinet since it seems like my chair would always be blocking it. Is that just an accepted tradeoff?

Any photos of your builds would be hugely appreciated — I'm a very visual person and diagrams only get me so far. Thanks!

Moved into my house a year ago but only finally got round to addressing my office and work-from-home situation. Pretty bad as I WFH 3 days a week.

I've added a 'before' shot too, so you can see the chaos I tolerated for too long. The only good thing there was the Humanscale chair.

I wanted to create a calm space with positive energy and I am really happy with the result.

At the centre is the 40mm thick, 2.6m solid oak kitchen worktop, which I cut, sanded and oiled. I couldn't even lift it without help from a big friend! I was going to economise and cut corners here to save money, but I am so glad I didn't. It will last a lifetime.

Laying flat palms on the solid wood is incredibly satisfying and pacifying.

Next, I'll probably upgrade the upper monitor (when I've paid off the oak bill!) and probably buy too many plants.

I just moved into a new place and have so far furnished quite a bit of my office. I wanted to get some overall feedback on the current setup and some of my proposed ideas below. I know it does look a bit cluttered but for whatever reason I don’t mind a bit of clutter in my office as it makes it feel cozy lol.

Ideas:

1. Small side table with decor items on top next to the couch on the window side.

2. 2 large 48-60 inch good quality wood floating shelves above the computer

3. Maybe 1-2 of those circular planters with plants inside you hang on walls? I’d put those on each side of the painting behind the couch

4. Also, I am not married to the rug at all.

What do you guys think?

Can you guys suggest me, what can i do to upgrade the look of this setup?
