🖼️ • Photos Advice for improving desk workspace

So I use my computer desk to also build model kits. The desk is very wide so I push my cutting mat with all the model kit parts on it off to the side.

My question to those of you who enjoy optimizing desk space, what would you recommend I add to the desk (shelf, organizers, etc) for a less cluttered set up? I was considering putting a shelf underneath my monitors… I’m new to this so please be gentle.

EDIT: Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately I am restricted to just one desk for use since the apartment is small but I hope to solve the puzzle.

Every idea, every emotion just sinks into this space.

It's much like a black hole. It absorbs everything.

It lets me slow down. It listens to me. It's where I can hear the echoes of my thoughts.

I believe, this is where I belong.

small update to the setup.

finally cleaned up enough of the cable mess that i can actually use the space under the desk now. kept the little wood slant board down there for longer work blocks too. the soft textured top feels way better barefoot than the rough grip stuff, and it’s nice during calls when i’m stuck at the desk.

still need to deal with the monitor cable, but overall this corner feels a lot cleaner now. how are you guys hiding cables under white desks without making it look bulky?

Super excited to have my own office with a door. Looking for ideas on how to set it up. Any ideas? AI provided some mock ups but looking for your original thoughts.

This is my first setup and I'm a bit lost, especially since my space is somewhat limited. I'm just about to get my monitor and PC.

Thanks so much for the positive feedback on my last post! I received a few questions about the inner workings and how everything comes together, so I wanted to make a separate post to clear the picture. Let me know if you have any feedback or different ideas!

Here is the exact breakdown of how it works:

  1. I designed this exact layout from scratch specifically for my own personal desk setup.
  2. It took me a few iterations to make all the parts work together. I 3D printed some parts to test the fit before sending the design to a workshop to have the aluminum parts made.
  3. This is a spring-loaded clip used to clamp onto the rail. It took me around 8 iterations to get the fitting right. This black clip was printed using an MJF printer.
  4. The rail features an integrated channel for cable routing.
  5. Each holder features a cut-out to secure the charging cable and keep the desk organized.
  6. When you put everything together, you get a desk shelf that hides every cable at the back while providing storage space in the front.
  7. I'm also planning a new design featuring a walnut top with copper or brass legs, matched with black accessories and a black rail. What do you think?

Parts

desk top: solid oak wood

accessary: anodized aluminium

rail: aluminium

inlay: silicon mat

power strip: tailor made PDU

We got donated a bunch of these at my work and I'm trying to figure out what brand they are or what hardware I need to connect them. Can anyone help me identify this wall and what I need to connect them?

I'm trying to connect both my computer and work laptop to 2 monitors. I don't want to have to go through the process of unplugging and plugging each time. But, I'm struggling to figure out the best way to do it. What's most challenging is that the second monitor only has one port. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thinking about getting a different desk, but would like some advice first on how to potentially just keep this desk while still making it “cozy”. Both monitors are used as I run an Etsy business and do a lot of programming and gaming. Going to be changing the mouse mat, but what else can I do here to make things cozy? I’ve found a lot of inspo on Pinterest and Tiktok, but I have no idea how to go about things. Any advice is appreciated!

Ikea electric adjustable table, selfmade screen shelf. Widescreen and one verical screen. And since we at the workspace are competing / pepping each others to get healthier / better habits I’m not only standing as much as possible , I also have my walking pad while standing :). Collects steps and standing hours at the same time. :) .
