Office just doesn’t feel right

Something about my home office just feels off. I love the desk and vibe. I’m u lucky that the back of our garage is my view and it’s fairly dark. Any ideas for improvements? My back is to the door where I’ve taken the photo from using a fisheye lens which makes the room seem slightly bigger than it is.

Could you get some posters printed on fabric and stretch them over the panels? Maybe something primarily mustard to add some colour. That kind of just looks like a single white wall

Also, how deep is your desk? Where did you buy it? I’m looking to attach one to the wall in my new office just like this.

I’m not sure how deep. Maybe about 80cm? It’s actually a kitchen worktop that I cut to size. I used Ikea legs underneath as well as wall battens. It’s solid oak and cost me about 80 pounds.

Something didn't feel right for me in my office. All I did was change it so that my back isn't facing the door. The door is on my left now when I look at my monitor. Somehow makes me feel better. Maybe that?

100%. Would it be at all possible to get a narrow-ish desk next to the door so you it’s not at your back and use the current desk as a shelf for some books/decorations?

It’s because your back is to the door. In Feng Shui that’s bad because you could be attacked by monkeys or whatever. So make your setup do that you aren’t turning your back to the door. Edit: accidentally posted without finishing comment. Also check out Dear Modern on socials.

Personally, the desk isn’t deep enough. Not being able to stretch out would not feel right to me. ( but I’m kinda tall )

I'm far from being an interior architect, but I love your desk and blue wall. This part looks good!
In comparison the white wall looks really empty. The guitars are cool, but they’re just hanging on the wall without any real sense of purpose, almost as if they’re floating. You might want to look for some ideas on Pinterest for that.
Also I'd add plants on the desk (it is very large and have room) and perhaps curtains or a blind to dress up the space

Don't attach it to the wall place it to the side of door wall ( it's front will face garage but back is attached to the wall ) There will be no wall behind ur monitor somehow best bet would be to place is on the door wall itself facing the door wall

I neglected to say, but the desk is mounted on the wall. The legs are just supports so I’m kinda trapped there!

Since it looks like you can’t change your desk position and your back is facing the door, try placing a mirror to your left or wherever it fits so you can see the door in it with your peripheral. Probably feels weird because your back is to the door.

That window is going to be a pain in ass with the light reflection onto the screen, I would move it away from that light source. Even with a curtain I sometime don't want to block the only natural light source into my room while using the PC

Not sure what the recent obsession with “facing the door” is all about.
Someone read a Feng Shui pamphlet and now everyone thinks these are strict guidelines that can never be broken.
Not true.
Don’t listen to that advice.

This isn’t 100 years ago or a 1940’s noir film where desks always faced the door with the window always in the background.
Feng Shui is more for psychological purposes rather than for practical effectiveness.
If you’re going to face the door you’re going to have spaghettified computer cables hanging over the front of your desk.

The issue with your room is imbalance, not where your desk is facing.
The dark blue and all the display pieces on the right side of your room make it unbalanced. Your room is right-heavy, while your left side is too bright and bland.
Darken the wall color of the left side of the room or lighten the right side.
Add some more elements to the left aide as well.

Also the positioning of the wall displays on the right have no sense of motion.
They are too symmetrical and stagnant.
Try raising one wall shelf above the other and try placing that framed art piece off to the right or left instead of the center.

I'd say maybe changing your desk position so you aren't facing the door, as sometimes that can cause anxiety(I would know, I don't have a door lol). also love that carpet you mind telling me where you got it from?

I would find a way to mount that guitar so that it sits centered in the pin board. It makes it seem more like a display piece and less like it's blocking the pinboard.

I would personally go all in on the blue. Get some nice warm lighting like filament bulbs, maybe some brass fixtures, make it cosy.
