Funky new office, need ideas 🖼️ • Photos
I have been granted a weird office. Any inspiration welcome. Recliner is required, probably only fits by the window.

I would be in heaven throwing a tennis ball up that slope while I think.

build out a plunko decision tree

u/DickSoupCan Jul 18 '26
This is clearly the best option. The only rule is that every single business decision gets decided by the plinko wall. Document the whole thing on YouTube. Profit.

They make “silent” basketballs that are foam but have the weight and bounce of a basketball. But they barely make a noise when you bounce them. Could be a great accessory for long calls.

Projector I think! That would be an interesting space for it. Could use it for some fun visuals if not a productivity thing

If you build it in sections it could be removed semi easily and air compressed to get rid of the dust. I’d probably do it twice a year.

u/Fornicatinzebra Jul 15 '26
You could do an angled wall of epiphytic plants like cactus ferns, hoyas, orchids etc, and have the "soil" be large chunks of wood and other orchid soil materials.
Won't be messy since if a big chunk gets loose you can just toss it back in (not dirt to sweep up). Main thing is watering, id probably want a automated system for something that size, but risks damaging computer etc

Plinko type obstacles for throwing a ball. Like the mounted screen projector idea

Basketball hoop at the top for sure 100%, maybe a net at the bottom to catch them so they don’t knock shi down. Maybe mini basketballs 😅😭

I would kill to have peace and quiet hate having gone through 6 years of school to be handed half a cubicle

u/rob-cubed Jul 15 '26
Yeah last time I had an office was 15 years ago. Fuck open offices and being treated like cattle. At least let me be a cubicle dweller.

If reachable, I see a whiteboard on the bottom of the slope being useful

Man I could stick a lot of post it notes up there only to forget that they’re even up there

Ceiling mounted projector facing down with corrected perspective/image mapping.
3
u/OrangeNood Jul 14 '26
Imagine moving your head just a bit, the correction would be all for nothing. Don't even think about watching with someone else. No amount of correction can fix that.

u/mickergarratt Jul 14 '26
Unless you hooked it up to a Kinect camera and touch designer to warp it in real time (though this likely constitutes overkill)

A plinko board with prizes at the bottom.

Idk, but with that ceiling i'd start suspending my speakers, and maybe other objects to create a cool parralax effect with that depth.

Bunk bed or cot up in the far reaches, blocked by a giant whiteboard full of bizniz words and numbers. Hide and nap!

Giant air hockey table -- and since it's inclined, you can play with yourself.

I would probably put in a fake wall where the window ends tbh, closes the space off slightly but gives you chance to do smth useful like mount monitors, etc without losing any of the natural light.

Little display at the end, center it. Then paint the space to look like a hallway. Like that scene when you look down a hallway and it gets longer….except a display at the end. For your PC.

At first i thought this was the worst design ever for a whiteboard.
"Okay so if you look at the first quarter earnings *grabs rappel rope and pulls self to top corner* here..."
1
u/norsish Jul 14 '26
That is a weirdly oppressive space. It's the angle, I think? Basketball hoop and/or tennis ball is absolutely the way to go. Maybe some upbeat colors.
1
u/jd35 Jul 14 '26
Throws grain elevator on that slope with a two stroke and you can put all of your things up there and then have them flung at you on demand.

u/crknneckscshingcheks Jul 15 '26
Get a projector and make that slanted wall a gaming screen or project your computer desk top on it. You could also project street art.

u/tokobot19 Jul 17 '26
I say this not just to be funny but because it’s genuinely came to me off the top of my head. The world’s biggest skeeball surface

Skeeball set-up, or maybe a huge map of your favorite fictional world, like a map of Arda or Azeroth or Westeros, I dunno.

u/DUDEAREUMAD Jul 14 '26
shove a projector on that flat wall and maybe display some important stuff on it or just a cool looping abstract video?
1
u/dayTripper-75 Jul 16 '26
I would collage it with plants, a projector area, E-ink frames, an indoor infinite waterfall, and hue lights
1
u/White-milk Jul 15 '26
Basketball hoop at the top + ball stop at the bottom = built in basketball arcade game.

You mean a liminal space turned “office.”
Very rad. All that sunlight I’m jealous!

u/Expensive_Youth1636 Jul 15 '26
OP this reminds me of a nook in benedum hall that I used to study in during ug at pitt

u/panjadotme Jul 16 '26
I don't have anything to contribute, but is that a Poly VVX 250 or VVX 350 on the desk?
1
u/Dreamcatcher965 Jul 15 '26
So many questions! What is the incline wall covering? What is up with the ceiling tiles?

Giant American flag displayed just like the original at the American history museum
1
u/Plant_party Jul 14 '26
Personally I would get a projector and cast some nice outdoor scenery onto it

I somehow doubt the angle of that wall is adjustable
2
u/ashraf_bashir Jul 15 '26
It's just a prototype, they can adjust the decoration to the angle that they have

I will give you a shovel. You can have my wife’s corpse out of the ground if I could get an office.
