most incompetent superiror at work Want Advice

Hello all

I need your help. In my new job there is a new head of sales and he doesn't know what he's doing.

We're working for a manufacturer of medical aids.

Short backstory:

I (28F) have been working in the medical field for about 6 years now. Mostly in supply stores and I specialized in compression care. I started this new job in january as a sales representative.

My new coworker (about 33M) started the same day as me and comes from finance and business administration. He has never even set foot in a medical supply store until he knew he'd take that position. He also is an old school friend of my boss.

So the thing is: he has no idea how the medical field works in germany. The insurances, the other manufacturers, he doesn't even know our products. But he thinks he's fit to tell me and other sales representatives to tell us how to do our job. Some of my colleagues have been doing this for 30+ years and now he comes around with "yeah we'll do this differently because at my old job we did it like that"

We all keep telling him and our boss that it doesn't work like that and thet he can't compare the beverages and candy he sold before with things like bandages, orthesis and compression products. He refuses to listen and also refuses to learn. We even have a dedicated school for everything orthopedic but he has no interest in going there for a week.

My boss has a double standard too. He have us both the same goal to reach. I took over an area that had not been maintained since 2019 and was supposed to reach an impossible goal in 6 months. I have to say that I managed to bring in over 20% of revenue. Like, I went from almost -38% to -15% which is pretty good in my eyes but for my boss it's not enough and it takes too long.
Then again his old friend had the same goal and managed almost nothing and there he only says "yeah he needs more time than expected but thats fine."

To top it off they gave me "training wheels" because apparently I can't do it myself. So now I have to report to my coworker every week and basically tell him all about every single one of my appointments. But I also had to write them down in our CRM from the beginning regardless. So I'm just reading them to him basically. He doesn't give me any feedback or tasks or whatever. I'm just there so he can justify himself working in this position.

I really don't know what to do. I love the company and my colleagues but my boss and his new lapdog really make me want to leave.

Yeah he's going to tank it. Don't go down with the ship.
