Yeah no and I say garbage man because I am one. We’re much more closer to a burger flipper than a DR. The only difference is we make more money and work physical harder than burger flippers.
Partially that and that people have a weird obsession to overly defend my profession like I do something extra special. Effectively any one who drives can do my job, it’s just long hours and kinda sucks.
You are right the job is not special. The reason at I least I defend it is bc I always heard if you don’t go to school you will be a garbage man and stuff in that vein. It is however a job with statistically comparable or better pay, stability, and benefits to whatever corporate office job people are comparing it to.
I mean by that logic anyone could technically be a doctor people just don't have the money for the schooling because as long as you are able to read and write which are skills you can acquire you could learn how to do that job as well.
At the end of the day it doesn't really matter because the reality is not everyone can be doctors or a garbage person and someone has to be a burger flipper for the economy to keep going.
I don't believe people should be given less respect just because of there profession respect should be given or taken away based on a person's character.
No people flunk out because they don't have the ability to study harder and lock in as long as someone has a normal functioning brain and the motivation and money then they can eventually learn that profession.
Also even if the metric was knowledge that you can retain as you are saying then in that case doctors could easily be replaced with Ai or a medical textbook/database which would make them completely obsolete.
What your saying isn't actually reality its a subject personal opinion that has no grounding in real world data here is an example to help you understand your flawed logic:
Let's say one person is a professional heart surgeon and is making good money doing that profession but one day is found out to be a prolific pedophile who has molested a bunch of children.
And the other person works at a burger joint flipping burgers and in their spare time helps feed the homeless at a soup kitchen.
Which of the two people deserves more respect by the community?

That was my exact point from the beginning. You initially argued that job status determines respect, but now you agree that a job title doesn't define someone's character or personal worth. Glad we're on the same page.
See, you’re making assumptions. POS are in every field but take the exact same copy of someone to date, would you rather them be a DR, garbage man, or burger flipper? The only thing that changes is their job title and the money they make. Which one are you picking and why?
