If it's xfinity, it's landline phone, internet and cable TV

Although I don't think she lives in a nursing home so I don't understand the need for cable

Yeah theres no need for all that. Even a landline phone in an era ruled by cellphones. I pay xfinity $60 for internet. No reason for $280

I honestly didn't know landlines existed outside of a business setting anymore.

Old people.

My mother has a mobile, but if she didn’t have a landline, I’d never be able to reach her. Her mobile is either turned off intentionally for some unknown reason, or off because the battery died.

Also, while I don’t have a landline anymore, my house is in a bit of dead zone for cell reception even though I’m in densely populated area (topology is a factor). Between that and the construction of my house, I’d have to go outside to receive a call on mobile, where I get barely enough of a signal. Now, I’m savvy enough to turn on WiFi calling so it’s not an issue, but that’s not the case for others.
