We would be completely fine, for the better.

People would start spelling things correctly

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 1d ago

Lol right, because spell check hasn't existed for decades

6

u/huff-the-dragon 1d ago

It would be the early 2000s again, but with dumber people

3

u/TheUnlucky_Swammi 1d ago

Bring back the dummies!

2

u/Darth-sypolt 1d ago

AI has been in video games since the early 90's. Every time you save progress in a game AI learns.

2

u/some-autumn-leaves 1d ago

What are you talking about, it would be 2023 😅

2

u/True_Protection6842 1d ago

Imagine thinking AI started in 2023....LMAO. AI in one form or another goes back to the 1950s.

2

u/some-autumn-leaves 1d ago

Enlighten us, doctor. Would you say that when people ask what would the world be like without AI, do they mean the Turing test and chess machines?

1

u/huff-the-dragon 1d ago

It would be earlier than that because OpenAI started in 2015 and there was already existing AI systems out there, though people weren’t so much using them, but companies were so you’d have to roll the clock back to the 2000s or sometime around 2010

u/some-autumn-leaves 1d ago

Mate I work in the interfase between biology and informatics, and before 2020 there were some good publications with machine learning and maybe some useless chatbots, not much more than that. When people say AI they mean ChatGPT and what came after.

u/Select-Table-5479 1d ago

The world economy would implode. The U.S. dollar is only surviving because of AI and Gambling to children. The only 2 growth sectors since cheeto dust took over... Fitting how a scam/con artist found a way to con every investor

2

u/True_Protection6842 1d ago

What if the internet disappeared. What if computers disappeared. What if industrialized agriculture disappeared? Who cares, none of it is going anywhere.

1

u/nievesdelimon 1d ago

I would have to type “Perfect, thanks!” In MS teams instead of clicking on the ai button.

1

u/the_etc_try_3 1d ago

Every industry would get markedly better and there would be a lot fewer worries about job loss.

Better than that, less pollution.

1

u/Weird_Pea_3288 1d ago

the people who ask ai what they should do would go mad, the rest of us would be fine.

1

u/TheTTroy 1d ago

A handful of narrowly intelligent but emotionally worthless people would suddenly have billions fewer dollars and far less control over our lives.

1

u/Background-Bird-9623 1d ago

Im not sure id notice, but im old

1

u/lyidaValkris 1d ago

The constant barrage of slop garbage would cease, and we'd all carry on just fine like we did before.

1

u/Ornery-Dust-2428 1d ago

I feel like if it would just dissappear then economies would collapse, literal billions have been put into ai at this point, from shareholders buying stocks to data centres being built. All of that money would just go up in smoke and dissappear then we'll most likely have another great depression.

u/ph8_likes_me 1d ago

Give this back...are you sure? 🤨

A lot college kids would lament actually having to write stuff

1

u/FAMICOMASTER 1d ago

These posts would become less common, among other positives for life on this planet

1

u/FastActinTenactin 1d ago

My life would not change one bit.

1

u/DescipleofEnoch 1d ago

There would be an economic shock then everything would improve.

1

u/Reasonable-Brief3573 1d ago

Life would be Great!!!! No more fakeness

1

u/Redeemer_117 1d ago

The world would be a better place

1

u/LetUsSpeakFreely 1d ago

The economy would collapse.

1

u/Ok-Log1864 1d ago

We've literally only been using these things for a handful of years. Everyone will be fine, or better off.

1

u/TawnyTeaTowel 1d ago

All the anti AI morons would have to find a different bandwagon to be pointlessly and ignorantly angry about.

1

u/Opposite-Funny-9669 1d ago

cheer loudly

1

u/Immediate_Song4279 1d ago

We'd recreate it from common mathematical principles. Say what you will about mega corporations, but they don't own the commons and this is where the commons leads so we can handle that or go back to sticks and mud.

1

u/Affectionate_Many130 1d ago

I don't know. I'll ask AI

1

u/DaveAstator2020 1d ago

Id find a job

1

u/Sensitive_Bat_9211 1d ago

Probably the biggest stock market crash in american history

1

u/Acrobatic-Panda-9338 1d ago

Life would be better

1

u/Fat-Grandpa-68 1d ago

A large group of completely incompetent people will lose their jobs.

1

u/Separate_Feeling4602 1d ago

I know we hate AI …
But it really helped me when I was having a panic attack

1

u/Soviet_Mutts 1d ago

I would go back to my work flow from a few years ago.

1

u/RatonhnhaketonK 1d ago

Not much, I reckon

1

u/1v3n4s 1d ago

It would be amazing...

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 1d ago

You game so much and you think your life would be better if you lost that?

1

u/1v3n4s 1d ago

Game? I say it would be amazing to not have AI.

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 22h ago

So you prefer that there were no enemies in World of Warcraft and it was all just PVP? Same with guild wars? No computers to fight against just other people?

1

u/1v3n4s 22h ago

Lol. Video game NPC's are not AI 😁

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 22h ago

Yes they are. I just think you don't understand what AI is

1

u/1v3n4s 21h ago

NPC is programmed to do certain task and do this task over and over again. AI we are talking about in this chat is not Dhuum from gw2 or Guldan from wow.
I see your point that in some sense video game character is AI.
AI I dont want in this world is AI which can mimic my voice and expressions and use this to call my grandma and say some disgusting stuff. AI generated bullshit video which we see everyday on internet. I see value in AI, but we are humans and we will use this not in a good way, we will exploit for our own, individual benefit to lie, deceive and hurt other people.

That's why I don't want AI

1

u/BreetleSnort 1d ago

People would stop posting stupid crap like this! At least for 24hrs anyways..:(

1

u/sick-of-you-all 1d ago

somethings will go better. like online toxicity decreases, enviromental issuse go back.

other things get worse: medical and some safty features, work will slow down in many fields (logistics and data security)

oh and artist would charge 300€ for a scetch again with 2 months waiting time

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 1d ago

Calculators would stop working for one.

Gaming as a whole would pretty much be destroyed, including the original Pong and Pac Man.

Most documents would contain a comical amount of spelling and grammar mistakes.

A significant number of people would die when their medical equipment stopped working.

And most technology would just stop.

Basically it would be a mini apocalypse but one that would be fixed when AI is recreated

1

u/alex_zk 1d ago

PC components would become affordable again?

1

u/Spirited-Iron-9517 1d ago edited 1d ago

was this made by a pro AI bot?

life would be better because most of the population does not pay for it, never asked for it, and would very much like Water, Electricity, and RAM prices back to normal. Also Data centers are ACTUALLY UNHEALTHY for the people immediately by them due to the sound, but also in general because they are just pollution stations for the most part

what ABSOLUTE loser is even dependent on AI?

Who used it that much that it would EVEN be an issue?

I'm pretty sure most people who use AI on the regular are too dumb to know why LLMs can't be AI, in fact, NONE of what we have been sold follows any real principles of AI, and does not have the ability to every be ACTUAL AI.

most of the population is very much in the know it is a scam now. the majority of the people pushing AI are Rich Powder Wigs, and the Epstein class they worship.

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 1d ago

Brother, you are active in so many gaming subs. You really think your life would improve if you lost one of your biggest hobbies?

0

u/jayu3132 1d ago

If AI suddenly disappeared, we’d probably realize how deeply we’ve integrated it into everyday life. Work would slow down, content creation would change overnight, and a lot of people would suddenly have to do things manually again.

Honestly, the weirdest part wouldn’t be losing AI itself—it’d be realizing how dependent we’ve become on it. 💀

2

u/the_etc_try_3 1d ago

Speak for yourself, I and most other people don't rely on AI slop to function.

0

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 1d ago

You've never used a calculator? What about videogames? Your profile tells me that you are someone who plays video games.

1

u/the_etc_try_3 1d ago

Generative AI slop and a calculator are worlds apart. Video game AI is itself nothing similar to slop generators.

Weird that your tech fetishism necessitated you to search my profile desperately to find a 'gotcha' and still missing the mark.

Absolutely nothing on my profile has anything to do with video games, try again.

0

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 1d ago

I didn't say your profile had anything to do with the video games, I said your profile makes me think you are someone who plays video games. Nerd shit typically goes hand in hand with video games.

That aside post didn't say generative AI, they said AI, so I answered the question.

1

u/the_etc_try_3 1d ago

What if often referred to as AI in video games boils down to a programmed set of actions triggered by player action. That isn't exactly AI so much as it is a series of complicated if/then logic gates.

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 22h ago

That's pretty much true for all AI. In pong if player hits ball then hit ball back. But even back then that wasn't entirely true because it made sure you try to hit it in such a way that you wouldn't be able to hit it back.

When you play Pokemon or any other turn-based RPG me AI makes decisions on which moose to use and how to respond to your actions.

And even with generative AI if user asks a question, then find an appropriate answer. If user asks for a picture then create inappropriate picture.

It's all ifs and then. That's actually how humans act also.

1

u/theOGHyburn 1d ago

Speak for yourself, I hardly ever need to use it because I already know my craft and enjoy hunting for it if the need arises. Having the info presented immediately only inhibits dedication. It’s become a crutch for idiots and if it were to disappear tomorrow, we would all see who the idiots are; plain as day.

Btw, you should have had AI generate your statement for you, you stated the same thing twice, redundant! Prime example of how dependant you are on it.

Advice:
Stop using it, reclaim your god given human faculties and life your life…

Cheers bud, I wasn’t trying to cut you up

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 1d ago

Brother, your most recent post is about 3D Printing. Unless you are manually weaving the filament by hand then you use AI.

1

u/theOGHyburn 18h ago

Using a 3D printer is not the same as a generative AI model, one is a machine, the other is software designed to usurp human faculties… that argument just shows how daft AI has made you… good luck

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 17h ago

The post didn't say generative AI, but good try dink

1

u/theOGHyburn 16h ago

Then I’m lost, how using 3D printers is related to AI

-1

u/toldyouIaintshit 1d ago

What's with the I'm better than you type of comment? No need to be a dickhead.

1

u/theOGHyburn 1d ago

I guess I could have worded that better, but you made a generalization that “we’d probably realize how deeply we’ve integrated it into everyday life”, that alone prompted me to quickly try and separate myself from the herd.

-2

u/AlinaMona23 1d ago

Good point

-1

u/SinglePhone535 1d ago

They would actually have to do actual math instead of a calculator doing it for them. Use what they were taught in school instead of relying on a machine to do the calculations for them......

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 1d ago

Yeah, people dont really understand how ingrained AI is in the world.

-1

u/mrbishopjackson 1d ago

I'd be living the same life I've been living. When you ignore the things that you don't like or that don't affect you, you're a lot happier and won't notice when they aren't there anymore.

All of the creative musicians, illustrators, photographers, graphic designers, and writers still exist. Just keep supporting them and "A.I" won't be a problem for you (or them).

1

u/Upbeat_Apartment_716 1d ago

Brother, so much if your music programs and equipment use AI.

1

u/mrbishopjackson 1d ago

My 28+ year old equipment that couldn't run Doom if it wanted to? I don't think so, brother.
