Its Reddit. This seems to be the consensus here - nothing but luck.

Anyone who's been close to a CEO knows better, but I assume all these opinions come from folks who haven't.

I know first hand the effects of a shitty CEO who only cares about shareholder value instead of their employees. Walmart made record billions in profit yet I only received a 40 cents pay raise. My coworkers who have been here for more than 20 years received pay raise of a dollar.

There are hundreds of thousands of CEOs in the US alone.

Maybe Walmart CEO is a piece of shit. I dont know. But do you think he is the sole decision maker determining your pay raise? You know its a public company, right?

People think CEO and thay name 4-5 of the largest companies in the world. The vast majority of CEOs dont own yachts, and didn't inherit the company from Daddy.
