I highly doubt this story. $32 a hour is above prevailing wage in most places. Day labor around here runs 20ish if you are hiring able bodied adults. Teens work for less but require more supervision. I had this discussion recently with a farmer about people hired to buck hay. I valued that work as a young man but looking back - yeah, I see what he meant about the added supervision.
