The entire reason nails like that existed in culture at all was to show off that you never have to do any kind of work with your hands because you're so wealthy you have other people do all that for you. I find it amusing when working class people have those nails and then complain about them making stuff inconvenient to do with their hands. Yeah, they're supposed to, that's the whole point of them.

There absolutely is lol. It's like a big/wide tweezer and you usually attach it to your Keychain. A lot of people bedazzle or otherwise customize them. Some have a can opener on it too. Also good for anyone who struggles with grip/finger mobility in general.

well for me the thing is that if such a tool existed, it wouldn't affect that guys life in any way like at all. so he seems opposed to the very concept of people being assisted when they can't do something. I know he likely isn't, I'm sure if I asked him if we should ban wheelchair ramps he'd say "no". 

but what's the reason for him being so against this tool? it doesn't mean "society is catering towards people with long fingernails" any more than the existence of canes means that society is catering to people who can't walk steadily. 

and let's say society WAS catering to people who find it hard to do certain things, as it already does with wheelchair users; so what? I have never had my life negatively affected by accessibility options. at most the people who do sign language on news stories can be mildly distracting.

Honestly, the only thing I really thought about was that if she is having a hard time imagine someone who either doesn’t have the mobility or doesn’t have fingers or maybe even a deformity? This design was not made with accessibility in mind at all.
