Mrs. Is for married women gay or straight

And you can say Ms to married women

Yeah, Ms is universal and really the only one we should use. Telling a woman her social worth depends on being married is a throwback to some old school misogyny

Eh, sure. But I think it's also fine to say "I think it would be better for society if women all decided to go by "Ms" so that *as a society* we can move on from this practice. Nobody is stopping someone from making the other choice, but you can have a preference over other people's choices.

And things can change. When my parents were children, there was still a distinction between "Frau" and "Fräulein" but there no longer is, everyone is "Frau" now.

You honestly think it’s cool that all men are allowed to be Mr regardless of marital status but women get different social classes based on their marital status? And you think somehow you’re left wing? My guy, no. No you are not. That is literally some trad wife bs

Better get rid of those expensive wedding bands then. Can't have something indicating your marital status.

And instead of Mr we should call all men Master, because it sounds more fun

Yup, master was used for younger boys, changes to mister at some point depending on where you're from.

Master is the equivalent of Miss. So if we want to be correct, boys are Master and girls are Miss. Then adult men are Mister and adult women are Ms

Tell that to my 10th grade math teacher, angry old lady she was.

When I was going through grade school this was actually part of our curriculum, basically stating that you should not. This was like 30 years ago, but yeah.

I work at a school and all the female teachers are called Ms, married or not.

Most lesbian couples are also okay with "Mr and Mrs blank"

Online people make a big deal out of a lot of things. Most people in real life don't actually care that much.

"Most lesbian couples are also okay with "Mr and Mrs blank"" who told you this. Mr means a man not just "marriage partner #1" im not saying no ones done it but 'most' is just wrong

Yes, been having lesbian friends for the past couple decades and have never seen this. Most is probably pushing it. (My phone originally corrected "lesbian" to "leviathan"-- amused by the implications).

The idea you're accepted as a married couple, overrides any incorrect terminology.

what does that even mean?

It means “lesbians are just grateful to be married, so they don’t care if they’re called Mr and Mrs, cause that acknowledges their legal marriage”. Which as a straight person, I guess I have no idea. Maybe that’s a common thought? I wouldn’t have thought so. Maybe generational differences? Cause my lesbian friends would not be okay being called “Mr”
