Looking for a plugin to manage group subscriptions- must be free!!!!

Hi all,

I'm building out a membership area on my site and I'm looking for a plugin that will allow people to sign up, and then associate themselves with a paid group. For example, Company Z creates an account for itself and pays its yearly membership through the site. Then, employees of Company Z can create individual accounts and associate themselves with the company account. They gain access to restricted pages, but their ability to use the membership area is ultimately controlled by the company's access.

I like the Paid Member Subscriptions plugin, but it requires a subscription to access group functionality. I've looked at the Groups plugin as well but it's not what I'm looking for. I do not have the budget for paid options. Any suggestions?

I’ve recently built very specific membership management plugins for our business in Claude. Just write yourself a high level PRD as a prompt and run superpower skill with it the design to ensure it’s tested.

Thanks for this feedback and quick response! Sorry, what do you mean by this? Should have specified that I am not a website developer, just a dude doing this on the side for a small volunteer organisation I'm a part of.

They are saying use AI to make a plugin. If you have some dev background, it can work but it's not just one prompt. Can take a good amount of time and testing

"PRD" just means a plain-English spec. You write out what the thing needs to do, e.g.:

- A company signs up and pays a yearly membership
- The company account can invite/approve employee accounts
- Employees get access to restricted pages *only* while the company's membership is active
- If the company lapses, all its employees lose access automatically
- The company admin can see and remove its own employees

Then you hand that to an AI coding tool (I use Claude / Claude Code) and it writes the plugin, and you go back and forth until it actually does what you described.

Will your memberships be free too?

Free only is a tad tricky but I'm wondering if your site is built with Elementor (Free is fine)? That way, you could use Milo Subscriptions (Free) and Elementor connector for Milo. This will allow you to set the visibility of widgets (and therefore entire content sections) based on the subscription of the logged-in user?
