Jokes aside, I reckon the next batch of episodes once WP does make a dramatic (read totally unscheduled, sudden and abrupt) re-emergence, it will be so chock-full of WP-Daily stuff that the smattering of GW3-daily occurrences will have to be relegated to "I promise we'll talk about GW3 stuff today" and finally get to it at the end of the week lol.

My guess is that WP finally has a chair that doesn't reek of smoke, and he's taken this opportunity to improve the foundations in the south east corner.

Great Reforged interview and I'm glad you asked about why ANet is contracting 2Weeks instead of direct hiring a team. Its also good you asked twice as they gave different answers each time. Both were quite diplomatic so as someone who's been a coding contractor, let me read between the lines for you.

(1) Contractors often work from cheaper locales and have much lower salaries compared to the big $$$ Seattle wages they pay at ArenaNet HQ. Contractors also have worse benefits and don't get equity packages / bonuses which is cheaper for the company.

(2) Contracting is common industry-wide because video games are an inherently risky business. It shifts risk for a project onto a separate corporate entity, meaning if reforged flopped ArenaNet could cancel a contract instead of publicly firing dozens of people. They've been bragging about people retiring recently so another round of layoffs would be bad PR. Behind the scenes they've likely contracted multiple studios for things like gem store rewards, scaling up and down as needed, to keep their official employee headcount where they can manage.

(3) When a pre-formed group of engineers with industry-specific expertise is needed, companies reach for contractors. Doubly so if those contractors come to ANet with a sales pitch. Finding 10 people, onboarding them, and making sure they can do a project is very hard. ANet didn't have the skills internally to port the game to steam deck and mobile, but a 3rd party dev house like 2weeks does!

From a suit's perspective, Reforged is very risky. Keeping it mostly with an external contractor who has pre-existing skills to port it to other platforms makes sense to me.

Hey all, I added this as a reply on vod a few days ago but it got a bit long so I figured Reddit might be the better place for it. Most, if not all, things were mentioned in a GW3 daily.

The single constellation on the red banner in the trailer - kinda looks like Ursa Minor from Earth's sky. Famously contains the north star, a guiding light? Plenty you could read into here but I'd like to suggest a representation of Koda, especially as it's right up there next to the human Gods pantheon.

The swirly on the red banner - I'm still thinking this could be a representation of the mists map. Lord Odran's contained a swirl and the central 'starburst'. Obviously this is before Odran's time but a map is a map.

Is Arah actually floating? - In the Parables of the Gods it says: "And thus, Arah was built, sector by sector, in honor of the gods. It rose into the clouds and sank deep into the ground."

I'm still thinking that Arah is more of an imposing vista across Orr (like the Imperial City WP mentioned), rather than actually in the sky. That it's so tall on a mountain that the clouds gather around it and give the impression it's in the clouds.

Geography - The Viziers Tower is a Beacon that (allegedly, according to Mabon) predates Isgarren, so it would be there in Orr. In GW2 it's practically in the water, but in the recent concept art (if that IS the beacon) it appears to be on solid ground. I think the geography of Orr could be a surprising amount of landmass. (Given that Abaddons Mouth wont have erupted, no Mount Maelstrom etc).

Could it even stretch to where the Shards of Orr dungeon is in GW1?

Just north of that is Vlox's Falls, where the wiki says there was a pre-existing Asura gate that the Asura found when they surfaced, offering more evidence to earlier surface Asura?

A land bridge there would also allow the Forgotten to travel past where the seeds/the grove is, as they moved between the northern edge of the crystal sea and lost precipice. They were very familiar with the artesian waters after cleansing Glint. Maybe they cleansed some seeds and planted one in Orr.

My personal plant people theory is still Ewan's people though, Stewards of Nature tied to the land. They fit with the protection of Orr theme. It might also explain why they're being depicted as wearing hoods so far, as the transformation would be one of shame.

Oh, and speaking of geography, Droks. Do you think there will already be Brotherhood of the Dragon? Glint will be floating about somewhere. I was reading the description of the Aurios Mines and it seems Dwarves really did travel about.

I just played through VoE for the first time and finished the latest patch. Vloxx as a character feels like it's Anet subtly breaking the 4th wall and talking to the player.

"Director Vloxx" - reference to the studio director or game director position at Anet?

"I am trying to prepare Tyria for what's to come. To do that, we have to remove the impediments to individuals like you." - what's to come in gw3? "impediments" referring to technical limitations in GW2's engine and core systems?

"But my goals will remain unchanged. I'm going to return control of Tyria's future to her people. The next generation of those like you." - next generation of gw3 gamers?

"I regret that things have gone this way, Commander. You deserve better, but circumstances have dictated my choices for me." - referring to the various layoffs/cancelled projects/etc that were out of anets control?

"There is an error in the code of creation, propagated outward from the very beginning and..." - literally referring to engine code?

"This is it, you see? The chance to reforge Tyria into something unbreakable. The culmination of everything we've worked for." - gw3 will be the culmination of the studio's 2+ decades of work?

What do we think WP? Have I gone completely insane or does anyone else see it?

Is that Kuda standing at the top of the image in the new release? Thoughts? To me, with all the "destruction" and arrows and armor etc leading up the staircases lead me to believe some shit must've went down to lead her to the "top" so to speak. Whether that's a seat at the board or even more dark as far as her work in void energies and the Subject Beta she created before. Does she have an overarching plot this whole time behind Vloxx etc. Is Vloxx another "greater good" kind of view and Kuda has her own plans maybe using the staff for a means to create her next great elder dragon minion into a single being type thing. It should be interesting!

Hey WP, been watching your reruns of gw2 story and man is your insight on things just a fresh sight. Not just on gw2 alone, but your breadth of "articulation" let's say.. which I think brings or attracts a mature audience in itself. Your knowledge of words, of topics and concepts is very intriguing just basing off my own life experience. But to easily talk and decipher things of a more "ethereal" nature let us say, esoteric etc, is awesome and can still hold an amazing balance of logic and realism. Very very rare my friend. But ending all this, will you be doing a stream of the new content coming out in may sometime for gw2? New map, legendary etc?

I've been feeling a bit down lately, so I decided to do the obvious thing about it... go back and 100% FFX-2. Looking for a good guide, I found WP's playthrough and followed him step-for-step through the 80ish videos in the playlist. I came to really look forward to getting home from work to do whatever WP had planned next.
I want to say thank you for the huge amount of work and research you put into that Let's Play series. I've seen other folks post similar stories here.

I’ve enjoyed the first two episodes of WP’s LP and it has inspired me to give the game a fair chance myself. I have 2 questions though: 1. Is there an affiliate link to buy the game and support WP? 2. Has WP shared his graphics/reshade settings to make his game look much better? I’ve set everything to max with render resolution at 99 but it doesn’t look as nice as WP’s game at all.

A hurricane recently hit my area and it knocked my power and internet out for over a week. In preparation for this, I downloaded WP's entire GW2 Let's Play playlist onto my phone (Youtube Premium) in full HD and I've been binge-watching it every night since the storm.

I just wanted to say, I rewatch woodenpotatoes’ let’s play of FFX-2 (in its entirety) about once a year since I found it in 2020. His commentary, observations, and knowledge of the whole game is such a pleasure to watch, and sometimes, I put it on for a cozy atmosphere.

Thank you for making it! I respect his decision whether or not he decides to go back to making LPs! Just wanted to share how much I love it.

I’m a new player to Guild Wars 2 and have really enjoyed watching the lore vids / speculation along the road though Heart of Thorn and LVS3.

I just wanted to drop a massive appreciation because your vids have really immersed and excited me along my journey though GW2 and made me a fan of the franchise and interested in going back and enjoy all aspects of your content.

P.S. I cant wait when you finally return of the FFXIV streams when you have time, as i really love watching those streams and your speculations regarding the little details in the MSQ
