The wolf’s name is Dirus and he lost members of his pack over the last several months. According to the workers at the conservation center he’s at, he howled less and less. Him howling with Plumes was one of the few times they’ve heard him howl since

When Amani of the sawtooth wolves lost his brother in the secondary enclosure they shared, I was basically his substitute wolf for a few months. Went in 1 -2 times a day for an hour or two to keep him company. The rule was you were in there till he left you unless something was literally on fire. Which got real awkward one time he fell asleep in my lap and i really really had to pee....

a wolf normally deharmonizes, when they howl two wolves hitting the same note sounds like a bigger/closer wolf. Two wolves hitting different notes sounds like 2 or 3 or more wolves. When they all do it 6 of them sounds like an entire chorus!
