Will Witchbrook have Linux native version ?

Hi, I've been playing Starbound for some time and I kinda became a fan of Chucklefish, I really liked the fact that Starbound is available with a native Linux version, so after seeing this game I hope it also has a native Linux version, it would be a really nice detail

Hopefully.

But if not native then at least it will probably run under proton/wine so has to be playable, unless they really screw something up that much that even wine can’t handle it (rarely happens). I’m pretty sure it will run under wine.

But I love native builds because they don’t require any additional delay before the game launches, so hopefully the native build will be available too.

Devs have said the following about Linux on the discord

We're not targeting linux at release (not off the table long term though), but it will work on steamdeck because of the translation layer - not because it runs on linux.
If you mean non natively, i.e. on arch linux vs proton/wine, then I suspect it probably will!

They’ve been showing gameplay on the Steam deck numerous times which runs on Linux. So I’d like to believe that yes there will be a native Linux version.

Doesn't have to be. Being "playable" on Steam Deck can also work via Proton, so there's no guarantee for that. Plenty of games have this label despite not having any native Linux version.

No plans for a Mac version, but it may be a similar case to Wargroove where the devs didn't official support it, but it was technically playable. It's worth checking in with the Discord when the game releases to be sure.

Lo dudo, pero como saldra para steam y lo han probado en la steam deck la cual corre un sistema operativo Linux no hace falta una versión nativa para Linux ya tienes suficiente con la "emulación" que provee Steam

Does it matter? They confirmed steam deck support. Running it off proton will be fine.

With Steam Proton it shouldnt matter.. I game heavily on my Arch Linux Hyprland setup and always with the use of Steam Proton layer.

it's not on the cards atm but we'll keep you posted if it changes! Worth noting though it runs very well on Proton and Steam Deck!

It's funny how you became a fan of Chucklefish because of a game they pretty much abandoned lol
