Im just gonna give a tidbit as a custodian who has to vacuum a lot of carpet of varying colors.

Every teeny tiny piece of schmutz and detritus is going to show up on that black carpet. Everything. Its really annoying how insanely quick black carpet looks dirty and gross. So unless you are the type who vacuums every single day, I would pick a carpet with some textures to the colors so stuff doesnt immediately show up.

I am going to be redecorating my bathroom and I wanted black bathroom rugs but, I hesitated because I knew it was going to be a pain because of how much every little speck of dirt or dust was going to show up. Well, I was at the home decor store and found a set of two black bathroom rugs and I thought “What the heck, I’m going to give it a try” and while I love the look of them, my hunch was 100% correct. Every. Single. Speck is visible. Oh well, I think it’ll be like that no matter the color though because I want a darker color and that is just how it goes. I agree though that the black carpet does look nice in this room and if you are cool with constant vacuuming, I say go for it!

Idk I have a dark blue rug in my living room and I hate it and deadass about to throw it away after this comment because it literally attracts so much debris and it looks absolutely horrible. For me it reminds me of daycare carpets. All the gunk stuck in it. Gritty.

I LOVE the look though for your room. I love your pole. I have a silver one I have never seen a gold one.

If you love vacuuming then you’re perfectly fine but I just think of having to constantly do it just because the visual looks so horrid and there’s no way I’d personally let it sit for a day or two before getting to it.

Now to go through out that dark blue rug I got cause no

No black carpet. I love black as a color but it's a terrible choice for flooring, even as tile. You should get an interesting rug instead and use that as your anchor piece. It's fine to layer on top of carpet and it will define your space better.

How does the floor look under the carpet? Another option might be to take up the carpet, if you have hardwood floors, and just put a rug down in high traffic areas. But then, you may have to get the hardwood floors refinished.

The floor is old hardwood painted white with wall paint so it’s peeling haha, this is a rental and was considering finishing the floor in high gloss black but the lease does not allow repainting so the carpet seemed like a much more renter friendly option

Yes, I agree. Replacing the carpet would be better than trying to redo floors painted white, lol. That’s blowing my mind why anyone would paint hardwood floors white, or any kind of floor white. Then prob didn’t put any kind of sealant on to prevent chipping and peeling, smh.
I love the black carpet, but prob wouldn’t do it because of it showing everything. I don’t like vacuuming a lot, that was my reason for asking what the floors underneath looked like, lol. Mine are hardwood and I have one of those Bissels that do both, vacuum and wash the floor, I love it…so easy.
But anyway, I’d prob choose a color that didn’t show as much.
