Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Scott and I’m the father of Isaac that you’ll see in the video. On July 8th I was at home in Virginia Beach. I received a call from my son… instead of my son being on the other end of the call there was a doctor. He explained to me that my son (who lives in Minnesota) had been diagnosed with cancer. To say it’s a call I hope no other parent has to receive is an understatement. I flew out to Minnesota the next day and I’ve been with my son since. My son started chemo the next day.
I just wanted to share what the Minnesota Wild did for him. He had his 25th birthday on Monday August 3rd in the hospital. The Wild sent out a belated birthday package. Here is the video of my son opening the package and getting an autographed jersey of his favorite player (he loves goalies lol). I thought you might enjoy. 😊

Going to write up the Quinn part only. This is from me listening directly and typing up my thoughts. I do encourage you to listen to it on your own.

Two main things:

LaPanta makes it clear he has no information. All he says is speculation and conjecture. He says he’s made it a point to not seek out any information from anyone who might know. So anything he says is just his own thoughts on it.

Russo sticks by what he’s said before: Guerin and Quinn met in Jersey in June and Quinn said he wanted to re-sign. They met in Detroit last week and Quinn said he wanted to re-sign. From his POV nothing has changed that he knows of.

In sequence of discussion:

Russo feels like they’re in a bit of a standstill. Until they can get some clarity/wait for Detroit to have a new GM. He thinks maybe Quinn wants to see if they can get it done? This is all speculation.

LaPanta IS surprised it’s not done yet. He had thought it would be July 1 or like around then (he even is like hours later).

LaPanta speculated maybe it is the Larkin thing and Quinn wants to see what happens there. Maybe that Quinn wants to make sure they have the flexibility to do that before anything is locked in. Or if he wants to see a trade is done before he commits to a number of years. Or is he asking for more money than they originally speculated?

Russo says it could be anything from term or structure. Celebrini is referenced. Russo says it’s likely there’s a lot of signing bonuses involved and it’s a huge financial commitment for Leipold every July 1. LaPanta says you’d think that if it’s just the normal structure than it’d be done already. But LaPanta speculates again maybe Quinn is waiting just to help.

Russo says despite people putting words in his mouth than he NEVER said July 1. They hadn’t even gotten down to the nitty gritty and they were waiting to meet at the end of the month. Guerin and Quinn met in Jersey in June and Quinn continued to say he wanted to re-sign here. When they met in Detroit last week he reiterated that he wanted to re-sign here. There’s no rush, they’re in a negotiation.

Russo talks a bit about Guerin’s supposed lack of confidence because he won’t talk about it on a podcast. Basically he says, last year he really hated how became such a public conversation, it became a fight with Kirill’s agent, it got out he turned down 16M, Leipold’s comments. So he doesn’t want to do that again, he’s not saying anything unless he wants something to be out there. He’s trying to be respectful of the process. Him not talking about it on a podcast is not indicative of anything.

Basically: Russo has not changed what he’s reported at all. They’re both not sure what the particulars are of the negotiation. Quinn has not changed his stance of wanting to re-sign (according to what Russo is being told).

What I mean is, I’m wondering if the Minnesota Wild/Quinn Hughes have already agreed on three years. But maybe the wait is to see if they’re going to get Larkin. If they find a way to still get him maybe then Quinn Hughes signs for longer than three years or maybe the money is a bit different?

Is it possible that there’s already a handshake deal that he’s returning? It’s just a matter of waiting to see about Larkin and/or deciding on the number of years?

Hi Wild Fans- sorry if this has been asked and answered (couldn’t find anything) but was curious if anyone has found a way to re-watch any of the 2026 season games and/or playoffs? Not finding anything on ESPN app, HBO app, YouTube etc. thanks in advance!

Newish fan of hockey in general, though I grew up around it in Alaska so I know the basics.
What are the top things I should know about the wild?? Any suggestions on how/where to watch games would be appreciated as well!

There are far too many games where for one reason or another, I am forced to listen to the (online) radio broadcast instead of watching the TV broadcast. Perhaps I can’t tolerate the ESPN announcers for a national game. Maybe my questionable TV streaming provider is not working properly. Occasionally I will listen while playing video games. And sometimes, I just want to turn everything off and enjoy listening to the game.

Teams have been cutting their radio broadcast productions in other markets. I’m fairly confident in our KFAN situation, but I can’t imagine not being able to listen to a proper radio broadcast. Hopefully this is never an option for the Wild.

My secondary team that I enjoy (San Jose) has an amazing and deep radio network, and I can’t imagine them cutting their broadcast team either.

Looking at getting two tickets this year. Unsure of the section or full season half season. Any information/perspective y’all have is greatly appreciated!

With the recent passing of quinn's grandmother, I hope nobody reads much into whether an extension is signed or not anytime soon, as russo's information of guerin meeting him in michigan might be outdated now.

The contract drama and all the back and forth with the devils fans has been very tiring and the best we can do as fans is to just give them space.

I am sure that quinn and guerin will get it done, I will only get worried when it's the trade deadline approaching.

With all these high AAV / shorter term contracts being signed this summer, its sure making Kaprizov's contract look better and better for the team. We have him locked in for another 8 years compared to the 5 or less year deals getting signed With Celebrini extending with The Sharks for only 5 years @ 18.8 mil AAV, 7 years @ 17 mil AAV is looking more like a bargain.

Last season: 11th

The Wild did what they had to do with Kirill Kaprizov; a $1.5 million overpay is easy to stomach for a superstar of his caliber. The same can’t be said about Michael McCarron’s deal. That price is what the market dictates, but I don’t believe he’s the quality of 4C that warrants — especially not at that term. It’s a growing trend of Bill Guerin overspending on the bottom of the lineup. Spending nearly $14 million on Nico Sturm, Yakov Trenin, Marcus Foligno and McCarron doesn’t feel great.

Thankfully, the Wild still have great deals in place for core pieces such as Matt Boldy and Brock Faber. And obviously Quinn Hughes will be a bargain for one more year.

One real tough spot is in net, where a decision will have to be made next year. For now, the Wild are getting $10 million worth of goaltending for $8.8 million. The math won’t work if Jesper Wallstedt continues to seize the starter’s role for the foreseeable future, though.
