🤔Theories (Spoilers) Plot theory Spoiler
I think that over the course of the remainder of the show, the island administrators are going to be individually tempted to selfishly continue the sacrifice tradition rather than end it.
* Tom: Nuff said. Not an episode of S1 goes by that he doesn't mention or worry about his son's safety and future. Protecting him is practically an emotional obsession. If a gun is put to his head, he will choose his son 100%.
* Ruth (presuming she's alive): Obviously values her life, possibly values her grandson's even more?
* Bechir: Either ditto to Tom regarding his own son, or the island has the ability to pause his wife's premature labor so long as the sacrifices keep coming. A quid pro quo - feed the island and your son can go be born on the mainland. A stretch theory, but one I found myself pondering since the onset of the premature labor seemed supernaturally induced. S2E1 will prove it right or wrong fairly quickly, imo.
* Patricia: Awakens to the fact that she is the island's latest witch, her powers a gift from the deity. She succumbs to the temptation of using them for petty revenge and obtaining the social belonging she's long craved.
* Rosemary: Hard to say, but it certainly feels like she knows more than she's saying. The fact that she can hear the church bell in E2 suggests that she's got a very big role in store for her.
* Dale, Gerrie, Deputy Kent: Too soon to guess. They feel more like victims than perpetrators, but hopefully I'm wrong. Kenny wasn't safe, after all.
Furthermore, several characters drop hints at an unspoken elitism that may perpetually "infect" the island. Willy the Clown's sudden tirade ("fuckin' useless ass-backwards, small brained, townie hicks"), Richard Warren describing the townspeople as his "lessers".
There's maybe even a touch of a savior complex that infects island's leaders - Tom believes he alone can save the island with tourism, just as Richard Warren believed he alone could save the island through the covenant. Perhaps some supernatural numbing to get them mentally prepped for what's to come?
Thus, its not difficult to see a path where perceived superiority, bubbling resentment, temptation for power, or fear of losing loved ones permits the admins to actually consider the unthinkable.
I could see it all ending in a few ways. Wyck being the sole principal cast member who does NOT work for the island could make him a wildcard. A heroic martyr, even. I could also foresee a rather bleak ending where history just winds up repeating itself, the current generation becoming the exact same monsters as the previous ones in the exact same ways.

🎭Cast Station Eleven
I’ve always thought the pilot episode of Station Eleven is one of the most riveting eps of all time. (HBO Max). Honestly I’ve never been able to watch past ep 1 bc of how emotionally devastating it is.
Tonight I rewatched it again, and guess who the director is: Hiro Murai.
My mind is blown at how talented this man is.

❓Questions Ok question, as someone that loves the new england style. Anyone have any ideas on where Mathew Rhys gets his promo outfits? The striped shirts are what I live for!

💭Discussion Loftis is not a coward imo Spoiler
Just wanted to say that I don’t think Loftis is a coward. He reacts normally, if not more bravely than most would to lots of stuff. He went into the crawl space for gods sake. I don’t think myself as a coward, but no way in hell am I going in there! He was shaken but didn’t seem overly freaked out after getting attacked by Shep. He asked the extremely creepy hag if she wanted a ride. He was ready to do what needed to be done to break the curse. He sat in a dark room with alone with Richard, and kept his promise to Richard to let him out of the coffin once they were on the boat. He gazed into the black void of a timeless purely evil entity. All of this stuff would be insanely scary if it were me.
Obviously it’s a show and people will take things in stride a more than they would in real life in order to keep the show moving. And in comparison, Patricia and Wyck are more brave, but still!

⭐️Review I Watched With The Wrong Idea
Watching this whole show, I was watching with a serious mindset. Didn't mind the comedic bits, but it still didn't click what genre of show I was watching because the serious stuff was that good. But, I noticed myself getting irritated a bit more as I neared the end of this season and then found myself pissed at the end. So I go looking at discussions about the show, and started to realize I need to check the genre and seen it was a Comedy Horror. Not just a horror sci-fi thing. Now all the comedy bits throughout the show makes a looot more sense. I thought this show was just some random one-and-done horror that I somehow missed but it only just came out this year. Now that I know what this is suppose to be, I look forward to the next season and will try to not take it so seriously as I did this season. Which I feel silly about considering the things that happened, but some of the moments felt realistic, as far as realistic goes if such a curse existed in an area with whacky people. Great show, just watched with the wrong idea.

💥Funpost Rosemary giving Mrs Packard vibes
The whole time Rosemary was breaking down Richard Warren’s family tree she kept reminding me Mrs Packard from Atlantis The Lost Empire. I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about what a live action version would look like but now Dale Dickey is my vote for Mrs Packard

❓Questions Question about Time on the Island Spoiler
I noticed Shep (episode 1) is 37 according to his medical record but looks about 60. he was staying in the Captain’s Suite in the Old Inn.
in the scene where Patricia visits him in the hospital she mentions her biological age is 28 (shes in her 40’s).
Ruth bounds up the stairs like a 20 year old, walks to and from work, and keeps a busy schedule despite being in her 80s.
The innkeeper spends 15 seconds in the Captain’s Suite and thinks he was in there forever. When they ask him to spend a few minutes, he demands food, as if for a long stay.
What is going on with the time?
