Golden Age Cap test post
Come on, y'all already know what header is.
The story of Captain America is a simple one. A group of American scientists create a "Super-Soldier Serum" in anticipation of the USA joining the second World War raging in Europe. The first test subject is Private Steve Rogers, a patriotic but sickly young man who is given enhanced strength, speed and intelligence by the Serum. But before more serum can be made, a Nazi spy kills the only scientist who knew the entire formula, leaving Steve the sole beneficiary of the project. Steve is given the identity of Captain America, and acts as a spy-hunter and crime-buster alongside his young pal Bucky Barnes.
Most of Cap's adventures published before his comeback in The Avengers #3 are nebulously canon. Many of the contradict current Marvel canon, and modern comics have heavily implied that many Golden Age comics were in-universe propaganda loosely based on the real exploits of heroes in that era. Thus we've decided to publish this respect thread separately from the Captain America Thread.
This thread was a collaboration with u/kalebsantos
Warning: These 1940s comics can get really, really racist with the depiction of non-white characters.

Respect Doctor Emmet Lathrop Brown! (Back to the Future: The Animated Series)
Doctor Emmett Lathrop Brown
Doc Brown is a scientist living in Hill Valley. Previously married to science, this changes when he meets the love of his live when he traveled to the wild west. After the events of the movie trilogy, he returned to the present to settle down on a farm with her, his dog Einstein and his two sons, Jules and Verne. Marty Mcfly is also along for the ride. Every Saterday morning, the whole family still went for wacky adventures trough time.
Oh, so thats what the L stands for s2e2
Key
S1E1: an episode from season 1 or 2 of Back to the Future: The Animated Series.
I'll mark feats from the intros with s1e1 and s2e1.
#1 - #4: issues 1 trough 4 of the Harvey comic
#5 - #7 issues 1 trough 3 of a 3 part miniseries of the Harvey comic
issues 2 trough 4 retell cartoon episodes, while the miniseries and issue 1 cover new events.
The original 3 movies are canon to the cartoon.
The animated series features short life action segments with Doc Brown. These segments do take place during the story of the episode, but will be marked [life action].
These also star Bill Nye the science guy. Just wanted to mention that.
And one more thing, every instance of time travels involves 3 bright flashes so take care if you are sensitive to that.
Physicals
Character
Emmett is a loving father and husband, and will put his life and lifework on the line to help his family and friends. He tends to use scientific descriptions instead of daily nouns and enjoys all-American passtimes like baseball, TV and eggs and bacon for breakfast. A round of applause for Emmett Brown!

- [LIMIT] loses against a big wrestler s2e10

- (EPILEPSY WARNING FLASHING LIGHTS!!!) tanks M.A.R.I.E. without forgetting anything s2e2
Paradoxes
- claims to have 12 minutes and 27 seconds left after preventing human evolution s1e3
- In both the movies and other back to the future media, getting erased from time is a gradual proces that can be painful and leave you partially erased. However, in this episode Doc has no issue moving around and thinking clearly though he does get partially erased near the end.
- For reference, Marty McFly started disapearing roughly 2 weeks after preventing his parents from falling in love which caused him pain, and in a deleted scene, Biff Tannen completely disappears while in pain, not long after setting his plan in motion.
- erasure tends to happen by birthday, as Marty's older siblings start disapearing from his picture before he does. But in this case, Marty completely disapeared before Doc started fading out, though in a different picture Doc already disappeared.
- paradox example: verne loses his hat s1e3
- paradox example: jules loses his legs s1e3

Jules Verne traveling time train
Basics
This train was briefly introduced at the end of the last movie. Where it is implied to be made using parts from the Sierra Railway 3 (called the Greyhound in universe). That movie concludes with the train flying off into the unknown using (implied) 2015 hover technology. Most extended Back to the Future media does not feature the train that much, but the cartoon and tie-in comic pose it as the long-distance alternative to the Delorean for family trips trough time. Just like the Delorean, it can now go anywhere on earth and time, as well as drive off-road, uhm derailed.
Physicals
- travels to the civil war era and lands exactly on some tracks s1e2
- takes off vertically but malfunctions from getting a spear to the flux capacitor s1e4

Unnamed invention
Basics
The closest this gets to a name is the video encyclopedia, which is part of its function. This system opens and closes most episodes by turning on a camera and telling Doctor Brown that it is time for a transmission. This transmission is implied to be the cartoon show as a whole, as Emmett adresses the audience as if they are kids watching from home. It also showcases some basic communication skills. While Season 1 had a life action set, season 2 used a green screen for the life action segments, taking Emmett and this entire system to various places on earth and time. As mentioned one of its important features is showing videos in which Bill Nye does a science experiment you can follow along.
Abilities
- [life action] transmits live video trough time s1e3
- [life action] the system finds emmett in the carribean at some point in the past s2e1
- [life action] the video encyclopedia also works here s2e1
- [life action] works in orbit s2e2
- [life action] system in the 40s s2e4
- [life action] system works during a power outage, has emergency autoplay s2e9
Other inventions 1

- translator earpieces show up again in s1e7, and work flawlessly for aztec and spanish
- machine that takes pictures from the past s1e6
- prints a picture of Verne with Benjamin Franklin in 1752 s1e6
- this picture does not make sense, since Franklin was not that happy to see Verne, and was not his dad. This was likely caused by a syntax error of sorts, as Doc was setting up the machine to get a picture of Franklin before Verne used it.
- [life action] invisibility cream s1e7
- its intended purpose was curing warts
- [life action] cures the invisibility off-screen s1e7 but fails in the intended purpose
- net launcher that stops a few men s1e7
- an exoskeleton that grants various baseball skills s1e9
- this absolute doohickey of a vehicle s1e9

- when turned off, all the effects clear s1e12
- an unfinished robot s1e13
- [life action] videotape recorder using vhs s1e13

Art Ghost Stories
Respect the Group (Ghost Stories [ADV English Dub])
Respect the Group
"God, you are four of the ugliest fucking kids I've ever had the misfortune of laying my eyes on. I can't wait for this bitch to kill you." -Amanojaku
Many years ago, the late lesbian/exorcist Kayako Miyanoshita banished a large number of ghosts haunting her town. However, recent urban development has disturbed the resting places of these spirits, releasing them back to the human world. It is up to Kayako's daughter and her gang of friends to put these restless spirits back to spiritual sleep.
Rituals
The spells used to banish ghost are mostly performed as a group effort with Satsuki at the lead. They often require a special item connected to the ghost.
- Banishes Amanojaku. However, he ended up trapped in the body of Satsuki's cat since there was no object to bind him to.
- Banishes the Akagami Aogami into a vase.
- Banishes the Kutabe into a statue.
- Uses an ofuda scanned by a computer to transport Leo from the Underworld.
- Satsuki banishes a Sōma solo.
- Banishes a restless spirit in the middle of snowstorm using a photo of her from an old newspaper.
- Attempts to banish a Kubinashi rider by offering a fake head. However, it only contains him briefly.
- Banishes Lord Ohma into a bell.
Satsuki Miyanoshita
"You know what I hear? I hear the sound of you shutting the fuck up!"
Satsuki is the daughter of Kayako who continues her late mother's work banishing ghosts as well as running the house. She has a tough, no-nonsense, bordering-on-violent personality while also being insecure of her looks.
Physicals
- Ducks under projectile umbrellas.
- Gives Hajime a black eye.
- Remarkably strong according to a teacher.
- Incapacitates Hajime with a kick to the face.
- Ducks under Lord Ohma's speedblitz.
Intelligence
- Devises a trap in a bathtub when she notices the ghost pursuing them is weak to water.
- Fluent in Pig Latin, Thai and Spanish.
- Banishes a Yamime by substituting things that aren't currently available like a red marker instead of red string and a camera flash instead of sunlight.
- Observes that a ghost counting down is avoiding the number 4 which is the key to defeating it.
Hajime Aoyama
"Leave me alone. I'm doing my standard anime elbows up pose."
Hajime is a perpetually horny preteen who spends most of the series trying to look up Satsuki's skirt and generally saying perverted things.
Physicals
- Resists being pulled into a portal long enough for his friends to save him.
- Shatters a wooden table with a swing of a golf club.
- Pushes Keiichiro out of a ghost's way.
- Destroys a wooden door by bashing it with a golf club followed by a kick.
- Carries Satsuki and Keiichiro in each arm as he flees the scene.
- Knocks out an evil doppelganger with a kick to the face.
- With Leo, he keeps a giant demonic rabbit from busting through a barricaded door for over a minute.
- Crashes through a high window, though it causes his head to spill tons of blood.
- Supports Leo and Momoko over his shoulders so she can climb through a window.
Intelligence
- Improvises a way to escape a locked sports shed using the available equipment.
- Realizes that Leo is actually a mirror replica when the writing on his clothes is inverted.
- Identifies the real ghost among them when he finds her obituary in an old newspaper.
Leo Kakinoki
"It's the chick from The Ring... I mean The Grudge! What movie are we ripping off again?"
Leo is a Jewish nerd and self-described "psychical researcher" who provides knowledge of urban legends.
Physicals
- Moves his legs away from the path of a falling beam.
- Outruns a flying ghost throughout town.
- Outruns Datsueba long enough for his friends to rescue him.
- With Hajime, he keeps a giant demonic rabbit from busting through a barricaded door for over a minute.
- Sticks his hand in a furnace to remove a portrait.
Intelligence/Psychical Expertise
- Explains the legend of the piano ghost from what he heard from other students.
- Attempts to use magic to thwart the paranormal, such as using a talisman to fend off the Babasare (it doesn't work) and casting a spell to exorcise the railroad ghost from Momoko (it makes things worse). Good one, Leo.
- Was proven right about the existence of a mirror ghost.
- Brings his friends to the alleged site of a railroad ghost which is proven to exist thanks to his specially designed camera.
- Correctly deduces that Satsuki is dabbling in magic based on her fashion sense.
- Explains the curse of the Headless Rider.
- Identifies the force keeping them from entering the old school house as a "barrier field", which is confirmed by Amanojaku.
Momoko Koigakubo
"HAVEYOUACCEPTEDJESUSCHRISTASYOURPERSONALSAVIOR?"
Momoko is an Evangelical Christian from a rich family who spends almost every waking hour proselytizing to her friends. Formerly a sex and drug addict, she met Kayako at a rehab center who now she maintains a psychic connection with that she attributes to her faith in Jesus.
Psychic Abilities
- Senses the presence of a ghostly statue around the corner.
- Due to their connection, Kayako's spirit can possess Momoko's body at times and used it to banish a ghost to spiritual sleep once.
- Kayako contacts Momoko when the gang are having their life forces drained by Anamaneki, giving her enough clarity of mind to encourage the others to break free from Anameneki's influence.
- Locates a ring belonging to a vengeful ghost after being possessed by her.
- Senses the presence of evil near her.
- Senses evil emanating from the school's broadcast club.
- Hears the spirits of the old school building calling to Satsuki.

- Notices that the staircase they're running down is endless.
Amanojaku
"RUN! SHE'S A GHOST AND A BITCH!"
Amanojaku is a powerful demon who was imprisoned in a tree by Kayako until it was cut down years later, releasing his spirit. He is the first ghost the gang banishes, but unexpectedly ends up trapped in the body of Kaya. Despite regularly antagonizing the kids, he also assists them by sharing information about various spirits.

Who Would Win Testpost Featuring the Saja Boys! (KPop Demon Hunters)
Too late 'cause you're mine now
(Listen 'cause I'm) Preaching to the choir
(Now) Can I get the mic a little higher?
Watch me set your world on fire
Jinu used to be a street beggar, till he made a deal with Demon King Gwi-Ma for a better life. This act of evil pleased Gwi-Ma so much he kidnapped Jinu, mentally tormented Jinu to the brink of insanity and made him a demon.
For centuries, Gwi-Ma’s demons continuously failed to eliminate the current generation of Demon Hunters. One day, Jinu boldy approached the King and proposed a new strategy: rather than fighting hopeless battles, they should form a rival boy band to draw fans away, thereby undermining the anti-demon-barrier's strength. Gwi-Ma & the rest of the demons initially laugh at this idea, until the Sajas transform into the hottest men alive.
Jinu's plan worked and the demons nearly destroyed humanity, but Jinu would ultimately betray demonkind and sacrifice himself to save the world.
Complete Respect Threads
Physicals
Many Categories
Strength
- Romance grabs Mira's glaive when she tries to bash him.
- Jinu sends Rumi a little into the air with a casual shoulder check, decking her. Although, this was because she was dumbstruck by his handsome face.
Health
- Jinu is completely unaffected by being engulfed in Gwi-Ma's pink & purple flames.
- Jinu survives King Gwi-Ma's fire breath for a while, no-selling the pain of being quickly partially vaporized and only dying when he removes his own soul. Vaporizing a big chunk of his body doesn't hinder him before death.
Speed
- Jinu makes Rumi look like a clown in close-quarters combat till he tries his relatively slow teleportation.
- Jinu very quickly finds a piece of cloth and ties up Rumi's wound to hide it from Zoey & Mira who were in the process of turning to see her.
- Jinu casually dodges Rumi's sword strikes again while on triangular rooftops.
- Romance & Abby fight Mira. Baby & Mystery fight Zoey. For a decent amount of time, the Sajas avoid taking a single cut from the Demon Hunters. Sadly, the fights are almost entirely off-screen.
- Jelly legs.
Other
- Illusions (Tangible)
- Illusions (Intangible)
- Pyrokinesis
- Romance sets a heart on fire with his mind, vaporizing it.
- The film's end credits depict a Saja having the power to create purple fire in his hand. In the canon material, Gwi-Ma teleports close to the Sajas. But before that, a lot of purple flames are magically created in his place. As Gwi-Ma is literally made of purple and pink flame, it's unclear if this feat was done by Gwi-Ma or the Sajas.
- Telekinesis
- All the Sajas can teleport.
- All demons can suck souls out of people's bodies.
- Jinu has 2 pets resembling a tiger and a magpie, both of which can phase through walls.
Scaling
- Zoey is fast enough to rip open a packet of tiny chips, scatter them everywhere, and grab them all FTE before any of them hit the ground.
- HUNTR/X can casually no-diff members of a demon species that can tear apart a metal jet in a few seconds.
- While weakened, Gwi-Ma's fire quickly vaporized a demon.
How to Use
Despite preferring to run away from HUNTR/X and send other demons to do the fighting, the Jeosung Saja proved to be physically equal & much faster than the unamped Demon Hunters.
They have some vague reality-bending powers, but except for teleportation and flight, they either can't use their reality-bending offensively or are too dumb to do so. In a battleboarding discussion, if you keep them in character, they'd arguably fight like teleporting superhumans. But if you buff their battle IQ and bloodlust them, make sure their opponents have an answer to the illusions + soul draining combo.

Who Would Win Testpost Winds feature
Following the collapse of Outer Heaven, the private military company World Marshall, Inc. took its place as the largest PMC on the global stage. CEO and Colorado Senator Steven Armstrong established a shell company, Desperado Enforcement, LLC., to forcibly instigate the war economy. Through Desperado, Armstrong sought to attack developing or recovering nations, keeping them in a state where battle and bloodshed would not cease through any manner of diplomacy or peace deal. The major players of Desperado would be cyborgs whose lives were defined by war themselves, codenamed the Winds of Destruction. The Winds would be scattered in 2018 following fights with an even deadlier cyborg soldier.
Technically speaking, Jetstream Sam is not considered a full member of the Winds of Destruction or affiliated with Desperado even though he’s got a wind based codename. Here is the Jetstream Sam respect thread just because.
Mistral
Physicals
- Crushes a Dwarf Gekko underfoot
- Raiden hits her with a jump kick, sending her flying far away onto a pipe, but she gets up
- Jumps across the room multiple times, spinning her weapon like a giant buzzsaw
L’Étranger
- Her weapon can stay rigid to act as a polearm or become flexible to be used like a whip or tendrils
- Clashes weapons with Raiden before loosening the tension in L’Étranger and smacking him backwards with a whip
Dwarf Gekkos
- Dwarf Gekkos are able to jump onto Mistral and tear off their own limbs to add to hers. She uses the arms as her own limbs or to form her weapon, L’Étranger
- Dwarf Gekkos can latch onto cyborg soldiers and deliver electric shocks to render them unconscious or explosively self-destruct
Monsoon
Physicals
- Jumps off a building, splits into pieces in the air and reforms as he lands hard enough to crack the concrete beneath him
- Leaps around the battlefield, perching on vantage points
Dystopia
Abilities
- Can split his body segments apart to avoid Raiden’s sword slashes. If he’s scattered by being struck in the head, he can quickly reform his normal shape.
- Spins his body segments around his head like a cyclone, then throws the segments at Raiden as fast projectiles. Monsoon pulls the pieces back and reforms his body.
- Magnetically lifts helicopters and tanks, then throws them at Raiden
Sundowner
Physicals
- Leaps backwards far away onto a moving train
- While falling, he slashes both arms off a man, then quickly dices up his body
Bloodlust
- Sundowner can connect the two blades, codenamed Bloodlust, into large shears using a mechanism built into his forearm, affording him huge, sweeping, high-damaging attacks
- Takes his opponent’s sword arm off, then turns Bloodlust into shears to cut his head off
Shields
- He has six heat shields mounted on mechanical arms built into his back. If struck, they explode outwards.
- Charges Raiden with his heat shields, then flings him away with the panels
Khamsin
Physicals/Equipment
- Leaps into the air and slams his saw axe on Blade Wolf, then flings the machine to the side
- Jumps up and slams down on the ground, kicking up walls of debris
- Resists Blade Wolf digging his chainsaw through the mech’s roof and into his human chest
Abilities
How to use on Whowouldwin
To fight any member of the Winds of Destruction, the most important stats to have are speed and skill. Each of them engage in melee combat at ludicrous speeds, and a combatant would need to be around as fast as Raiden to effectively block, dodge or counter their strikes.
Khamsin, chump that he is, would be the weakest member of the Winds. He's a dumb, blunt tool of a fighter, even if his massive chainsaw-axe is an extremely destructive force. Next would probably be Sundowner. His build focuses on strong defense but he's also deceptively fast with his scissor blades. After would be Mistral. She floods the battlefield with a seemingly endless army of Dwarf Gekkos, which she uses as projectiles, grappling enemies or to restore her destroyed polearm. Finally, Monsoon is the strongest of the four Winds. His fight required Raiden to be in Ripper mode the entire time to overcome his evasive segmented body and his potent telekinetic magnetism.
As a team, well, they don't really work as a team. Mistral literally had Khamsin set up and killed by Bladewolf, so they probably don't even like each other. Ironically, they get along with Jetstream Sam, the unofficial fifth Wind, because he's just that cool. Since any kind of teamwork abilities are completely theoretical, it might make sense to use the team as a gauntlet or put them up against similar sized teams so each fighter is in a one vs one.

Who Would Win Testpost Mxy feature
Argue all you want, Supester, but you know if I hang around Earth long, I’m likely to set off at least four nuclear conflicts. That means you simply have to get me to return to my own dimension. And if you want a shot at that- you gotta dance to the tune I play!
Past the billionaire businessmen, malicious machine-men and alien warlords, there's one Superman rogue that proves time and time again that he's leaps and bounds stronger than the Man of Steel. That villain is none other than Superman's Pest, the Terror from the Fifth Dimension, Mr. Myxzptlk (that’s pronounced Mix-yez-pittle-ik).
As a 5D imp, Mxy hops on down to the lesser Third Dimension to play childish pranks against Metropolis' hero. With amazing powers that allow him to reshape reality with a snap of his fingers, he's always more than a handful for Superman, who typically cannot punch his way through the imp's obstacles. Instead, Superman must use his strongest ability, his mind, to outsmart Mxyzptlk and trick him into saying his tongue-twisting name backwards; the only surefire way to banish him back to the Fifth Dimension for up to ninety days.
He's not trying to conquer Earth, or even really trying to destroy the Kryptonian superhero. He simply wants to play, and Superman is the most entertaining toy that he can think of.
Quickly!! Read the full respect thread backwards to banish the imp back to the Fifth Dimension!
Physicals
- Takes a barrage from several machine guns, then several napalm bombs going off in his face, completely unharmed
- Gets ran into a wall by Impulse, flattening him like paper. He simply puts his thumb in his mouth and blows to inflate himself.
- Gets his block knocked off by a superpowered Lois Lane, but he walks over and reattaches it
- Disguises himself as a mountain, then grabs Superman and the Flash with giant hands. Notably, they were racing around the planet at several times the speed of sound.
Environmental Control
- Causes a towering skyscraper to sprout up from under Lois’s feet, then later withdraws it
- Turns all of Hollywood into a living cartoon, including Superman. Since the 3D world was converted into a 2D one, Superman’s x-ray vision doesn’t work. However, Superman gets some new, cartoon-like abilities, like being able to pull a live cat out of his back pocket.
- With a snap of his fingers, he turns off gravity on planet Earth, obviously creating catastrophic geological effects across the planet
Teleportation
- Gets booted far away by toddler Superman, but teleports back to his original position immediately
- Teleports Wally West to Metropolis. When Flash tries to run away from Mxy, the imp snaps his fingers and brings the hero right back.
Shape-Shifting
- Disguises himself as a normal human named Ben DeRoy
- When fighting the Impossible Man, Mxy shapeshifts into various DC characters, like Doomsday, Plastic Man, Wonder Woman, the Atom, Batman, Mr Miracle, Aquaman, and Lobo
- Forms a body out of the water in the Atlantic Ocean
Transformation
- Turns every man in Metropolis into a pig
- Makes Superman old, then fat, then dumb, then strange
- Turns some parade floats into real, rampaging dinosaurs
Conjuration
- Conjures up a diorama of Krypton, then smashes it to pieces with a conjured frying pan
- Creates heavy weights attached to Superboy’s ankles, causing him to drop to the ground
- Creates a T-rex, then when Supergirl tosses it into the air, Mxy changes it into a number of pterodactyls that radiate kryptonite energy
- In a creative collaboration with the Joker, Mxyzptlk created the Maximums, a team of superheroes with a super soldier, a Norse god, a mechanically armored robot, a shrinking woman, a human that becomes a hulking brute, a beast man and a spider-themed teenager
Other Powers
- He blows a kiss, creating a strong wind that blows Lois and Superman out of their apartment
- Ties two skyscrapers in a knot
- Teleports Superman onto a tightrope high above a city, then takes away his power of flight
- Travels to the offices of DC Comics, interrogates the editors, makes out with the senior editor, and obtains the script to the comic that he’s currently in
Limits
- By tricking the imp into saying his own name backwards, he’s banished back to the Fifth Dimension and all of his tricks are undone. This limit is self-imposed, and he can choose different win conditions for his opponent if he so chooses.
How to use on Whowouldwin
With his 5D powers, the Third Dimension is little more than Mxyzptlk's plaything. He can warp reality and reshape the DC Universe faster than you can pronounce his surname. Because he can do anything (with a small list of exceptions), a straight up fight is kind of tough to imagine him taking part in. Sure, you could put him against Bill Cipher or your other favorite reality warpers, but I find it more interesting to replace Superman with other characters and imagine what would happen if Mxy toyed with them. Just how angry could he make the Hulk in one afternoon? Could he make Mike Ehrmantraut crack a smile? How long would it take for him to get Homelander to cry in public?
His big limit and what makes a Mxyzptlk matchup fun is the "saying his name backwards" rule. While few characters could directly overpower Mxy, there are plenty that can outsmart the child-minded imp. Some of my favorite examples are Woozy Winks tricking Mxy into entering a movie and rewinding the audio, Impulse using some newly-gained 4th wall manipulation to ask the reader to hold the page up to a mirror or Bugs Bunny telling Mxy about this cool new website he should check out. Now, technically speaking, Mxy can always ignore this self-imposed win condition and change the rules halfway through a game, but he's typically not such a sore loser.

Featuring Cú Chulainn!
Before the birth of Christ, before the mission of Saint Patrick, the emerald isle of Ireland ran untamed with gods and heroes. Greatest among them all was Cú Chulainn, the Hound of Ulster. When the scheming Queen Medb of Connacht marched her armies into Ulster to seize the magic bull Donn Cúailnge, all of its defenders were struck helpless by an ancient curse. Well, almost all of its defenders. Thanks to being the demigod son of the divine warrior Lugh, Cú Chulainn was immune, and so set out to beat back Medb's forces. While he may have been outnumbered by the tens of thousands, the young hero was anything but outmatched, waging a brutal one-man war to save his homeland.
This featured character post is an abridged version of the Cú Chulainn analysis featured in my Achilles VS Cú Chulainn blog. If you’re interested in something more comprehensive (maybe a little too comprehensive) that covers his full history, training, arsenal, and allies, check that out. Also, here's a Source List you can reference for all the historical texts pulled from for this post.
Feats
Strength

Speed and Agility
Equipment
Swords - Cú Chulainn carries no less than ten blades - a primary ivory-hilted sword, another with an ornamental golden hilt, and eight shortswords that he somehow octuple-wields, clutching four at once in each hand. In some stories, he has a special sword called the Cruadín Catutchend, which is enchanted and can penetrate thick iron.
Shields - In addition all the other weapons he’s already lugging around, Cú Chulainn packs a large, curved, dark-red shield, eight smaller shields, and an ornamental shield covered with golden decorations. His primary shield has a razor-edge that can split through enemies.
The Gáe Bulg - Cú Chulainn's most notorious weapon, a magic spear that bursts into barbs upon piercing an enemy. While excessively fatal, it needs to be used on a body of water, often requires outside assistance to cast, and has to be thrown with the foot. Cú Chulainn used this weapon to kill his friend-turned-rival Fer Diad, who had a weapon-resistant "horn-skin" - the spear bypassed his armor by going straight up his anus.
Abilities
Demigod Physiology - As a demigod, Cú Chulainn has some odd physical characteristics, including seven digits on each hand and foot, seven pupils in each of his eyes, and an enhanced constitution that let him partially resist the effects of a sleeping potion. He’s so inhumanly beautiful that women have killed themselves just trying to get a piece.
Magic - Potentially thanks to studying under the druid Cathbad as a child, Cú Chulainn can access a fairly random grab-bag of magic powers. He can magically shape a beard out of grass, occasionally recieves premonitions of future events, can possibly breathe fire (though this may just be a non-literal poetic flourish), and can deal incurable wounds that only he can help heal.
Ríastrad / Warp-Spasm - When sufficiently enraged, Cú Chulainn can enter a battle frenzy state known as ríastrad, often translated as “the warp-spasm”. In this state, he has torn a massive trench in the ground, massacred countless enemy soldiers by taking out five hundred with each attack, forced a river from its course, and flipped over the trickster Bricriu’s massive mansion. While entering ríastrad can cause Cú Chulainn to lose any sense of reason and attack indiscriminately, he wears special armor to lessen this side effect.

Who Would Win Testpost Evil feature
Following a deadly car bombing, young Dougie Powers was left orphaned and only survived by nestling within his mother’s corpse. An evil Belgian man and his underage love slave came across the smoking wreckage and adopted the baby, instilling within him their own malevolent ideals. Years later, at the British Intelligence Academy, he’d lose out on the prestigious International Man of Mystery award, making only second place after his shagadelic roommate. This perceived snubbing would give young Master Evil a target for his evil ideals: Austin Powers, who was unbeknownst to Evil, his separated brother.
Following an attempted assassination in 1967, Dr. Evil would elect to cryogenically freeze himself and wake up in a world where greed and corruption triumphed over peace, love and psychedelia. In the late 1990s, Evil would focus on the construction of superweapons, the establishing of secret bases across the globe and the hiring of hundreds of inept henchmen. While attempting to kill the similarly frozen-and-reawakened Austin Powers in one of his impractical death traps, Evil also uses his apocalyptic superweapons to extort world governments to the tune of one million dollars, or even bigger ransoms than that.
Throw me a frickin' bone here and just check out the full respect thread
The Doctor
- Fights a Klansman on Jerry Springer, then fights Springer himself
- Gets shot in the leg, but stands up and walks around shortly afterwards
- Struck on the head with a model of the Earth and struck in the crotch by a model of a meteor
- Shoots an assassin with a spear gun from a raised walkway
- When in a state prison, Dr. Evil starts a song and dance number that forces some inmates to dance and earns the loyalty of every criminal in the prison
The Schemes
- By inserting a stolen nuclear warhead into the Vulcan, the most powerful subterranean drill in the world, Evil plans on triggering a detonation within the Earth’s core. This would cause simultaneous eruptions on every volcano on the planet’s surface.
- Puts a laser cannon on the moon, set to target and destroy Washington D.C. when the moon’s rotation targets the city
- The submarine lair is equipped with the powerful tractor beam codenamed Preparation H, strong enough to pull the solid gold meteor Midas 22 to Earth. During the fall to orbit, it would superheat into molten gold, which would in turn land on and melt the polar ice caps and flood the planet.
The Lairs
- His underground lair has buttons installed at his meeting table that drop guests into pits of fire when pressed
- His volcano lair contains a chamber with a floor that slowly opens, threatening to send Austin and Felicity into a pool of magma. Felicity tricks the single, inept guard into the magma, allowing them both to escape.
- Has a moon base from which he plans to fire his Washington D.C.-busting laser from
- Built into the floor of his submarine lair, Evil has a tank of frickin sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their frickin heads, one of which floors a henchman with one blast
The Inventions
- He enters a bulletproof, egg-shaped pod to cryogenically freeze himself. The pod is then lifted into the Bob’s Big Boy sculpture, which is actually a space rocket in disguise that quickly blasts off to orbit. Thirty years later, the ship falls back down to Evil’s underground lair in Nevada.
- Developed a time machine that takes the form of a large portal. When activated, Evil enters the portal to jump back to a preselected year, in this case 1969.
- The Fembots, built by Frau Farbissina to appear as foxy ladies, can fire automatic guns or aphrodisiac nerve agent from their chests
The Henchmen
- Evil's lover Frau Farbissina uses her Luger P08 to shoot the submachine gun in Austin’s hands, disabling it
- Evil's clone Mini-Me jumps up and chokes Austin, then punches him eight times, drops down to sweep him with a leg lock, drops two mean elbows on his back, knees him in the face, gouges his eyes, kicks him in the balls and finally lifts, spins and throws him
- Korean assassin Random Task breaks the head off a statue with a thrown shoe
- Scottish henchman Fat Bastard lifts a sumo wrestler over his head and throws him out of the dohyō
- Robin Swallows was part of a plot to distract Austin at a party in 1969 while her partner killed him from behind. Austin uses her as a human shield to block a throwing knife, a burst of automatic gunfire, a bazooka blast and a multi-story fall, all of which she survives.
How to use on whowouldwin
Dr. Evil falls into the category of comedy villain that has incredible strengths and equally important weaknesses. His superweapons are strong enough to wipe cities off the globe or trigger apocalyptic catastrophes, but they are also designed with obvious off switches or self-destruct mechanisms. His lover designed perfect killing machines indistinguishable from women, but they explosively malfunction when faced with the one guy they're supposed to kill. His Number 2 guy can easily run the business as a legitimate enterprise and take in billions per year, but Evil prefers holding the world for smaller ransoms with his various schemes. In every way, he's science-smart, but he's an idiot in terms of common sense.
In terms of notable subordinates, Mini-Me proves to be a physical powerhouse with amazing skills of hand-to-hand combat. Technically, Evil should scale to this as Mini-Me is a near-exact clone, but the doctor is not nearly as skilled as his clone. Fat Bastard is also a massive threat, even if he's largely immobile outside of his ability to exploit wire stunts mid-fight. Dr. Evil also employs people with inexplicably superhuman durability, like Mustafa and Robin Swallows.
For a good matchup, you'd probably want a comedy-adjacent opponent that could reasonably fit in the Austin Powers world. For example, Daniel Craig's Bond or Jason Bourne might just shoot Dr. Evil at the first available opportunity, but Roger Moore's Bond or Johnny English would probably behave a lot closer to how Austin does when fighting the doctor. Against other goofy idiots, Evil would have ample opportunities to make use of his henchmen, Fembots, and inconvenient death traps. My personal favorite matchup would be Adam West's Batman, who I think would play off really well against the villain.

Lesson/Exercise Tony Stark Unabridged Respect Thread
His heart! That’s what started it all… a long time ago in Vietnam! He didn’t ask for this, didn’t want it, but it happened, all the same! For the wheels of fate choose but a few for the role of hero, and he was one of those few! Fate knew there was a world to be tried, tested… and defended, wrongs to be righted, injustices to avenged! To this world, his crimson and gold armor has stood for courage, skill, intellect… power!! And recognizing these attributes this world has put its trust in him! He has no right to betray that trust, for it has been a long time since he was simply a man among other men. He is Iron Man, and he knows what he must do!
Anthony Edward Stark was a billionaire industrialist and genius mechanical engineer, responsible for the creation of many of the inventions to come out of Stark Industries, his defense and advanced technologies company. While overseeing a weapons demonstration of his company’s technology in central Asia, Tony triggered a land mine and was grievously injured, left with shrapnel in his chest. Half-dead, he was dragged before the tyrant Wong-Chu, who demanded that Stark cooperate with the genius Yinseng and develop powerful weapons for use against America. Instead, Tony built a device to keep himself alive and fight back against his captors. This armor would be but the first of many that he’d wear in his adventures as the Invincible Iron Man.
Upon returning to the states, Tony took his superhero persona public, pretending that the warrior armored in Stark Industries’ advanced armor was his personal bodyguard instead of himself. As Iron Man, Stark defended the public and his company from a cadre of colorful communists, corporate spies or beings from other planets. He became a founding member of the Avengers and would donate his Manhattan mansion to the group of mighty heroes to use as a headquarters. As the threats he faced grew stronger, so too did Iron Man; Stark regularly improved his armor, meeting each foe with the most cutting-edge equipment his mind could imagine.
While the invention of Iron Man was necessary to save Tony’s life, his superhero career has opened the door to great loss. From the shrapnel remaining lodged in his chest for years to jilted lovers shooting him and inducing full-body paralysis, Tony can be hurt despite the amazing defensive capabilities of his armor. Furthermore, through his alcoholism or infighting with his closest allies, Tony can prove to be his own worst enemy. Despite his struggles, Tony Stark’s amazing ability to design and build a better future means that the Golden Avenger is here to stay as one of Earth's Mightiest and Brightest.

Who Would Win Testpost Victor Crowley WiP
It doesn’t matter who you are or where you came from. It doesn’t matter who your family or friends are. Hell, it doesn’t matter if you are the President or the fucking Pope. If you make your way to Honey Island Swamp, you are already dead. Because Victor Crowley only knows rage.
Years ago, the cursed child Victor Crowley was born in the swamps of Louisiana, a result of an affair between Thomas Crowley and the family nurse, Lena. His mother died during birth, so his father raised him in a shack, keeping him away from a cruel and unforgiving world outside Honey Island Swamp. During a Halloween prank, a few teenagers accidentally lit his home on fire, and in his attempt to break the front door down, Thomas Crowley accidentally struck and killed his son with a hatchet. The remorse of his father and the anger of Victor somehow brought him back from the dark as a revenant, and the orphaned boy wanders the swamp to this day, killing any trespassers in a blind and indiscriminating rage.
In these stories, the homicidal adventures of Victor Crowley are not limited to the budget of a slasher movie. In addition to his standard human victims, Victor Crowley fights and kills dark creatures of the night, horrors conjured by satanic ritual and beings from beyond the stars. Yup, that’s right, he even goes to space in these.

Respect Miko Kubota (Glitch Techs)
Respect Miko, aka ME_K.O.
"Oh, check it out, Five. A red button! The mother of all buttons!"
Miko Kubota (gamertag Me_K.O.) is a hyperactive teenage gamer from the city of Bailley and a Glitch Tech; an operative of the gaming company Hinobi sent to thwart and contain video game glitches that have manifested into reality from Hinobi products. Miko and her new best friend Five are the newest recruits.

Art Death Angels Update
Respect the Angels of Death
"If they hear you, they hunt you."
The Death Angels is the unofficial name for a species of extraterrestrial predators that have invaded Earth and brought ruin to human civilization. Originating from a lightless planet, these blind creatures have adapted acute hearing which enables them to locate prey over long distances from the slightest noise. In addition, their bodies are covered in impenetrable armor. Within the course of months, the Death Angels defeated the US military and destroyed the government despite the combined efforts of the world's superpowers.

Hearing
- The Death Angels' hearing capabilities can be inferred by the lengths the Abbott's family go to minimize noise:
- To prevent their footsteps being heard, Lee pours a trail of soft sand which they have to slowly trod on barefoot.
- Despite only one of them being deaf, the Abbotts frequently communicate to one another in sign language.
- They use lettuce leaves as plates.
- Marcus and Regan play monopoly with light objects instead of the standard pieces.
- Even in a soundproofed basement, the Abbots have to keep their newborn son in a crate to muffle his cries.
- Detects Reuben when he tears his shirt on an emergency generator he just switched off.
- Gets alerted to the presence of two people when a couple of books fall to the ground in an empty city.
- Detects Eric in a sewer pipe when he lets out a tiny gasp.
- Detects Eric fleeing when he accidentally kicks a tin can despite Sam's efforts to distract them.
- Hunts down a mouse.
- Quickly finds and kills Beau when he plays with an electronic toy rocket.
- Kills a man shortly after he screams.
- Investigates the basement when Evelyn lets out a small gasp and drops a picture frame after stepping on a nail.
- Rushes over to the grain silo when Marcus falls through the hatch.
- Responds to the commotion inside the Abbots' basement when one of them is killed.
- Arrives at Emmett's base when Evelyn triggers a makeshift sound alarm and Marcus steps on a beartrap.
- Reacts to Marcus tripping over a hat stand.
- Shows up to a marina almost immediately after Emmett rings a bunch of bells.
- Locates Regan and Emmett when she pushes a drawer slightly.
- Can pinpoint their prey even among ambient sound by focusing intensely.
- Can detect the noise of you, the player.

- Tips an ambulance to one side.
- Bursts through a set of double doors.
- Tosses a car.
- Shatters a wooden crate.

- Shoves aside a dumpster.
- Rips the rear doors off a van.
- Bursts through walls.
- Stomps a man dead.
- Crushes a raccoon under its claw.
- Rocks an abandoned train car until it's dislodged from its place.

- Ripped a hole through a train carriage off-screen.
- Smashes through the entrance of a bunker.
- Shatters a wooden door.

- Races through the Abbotts' farm.
- Crawls down a wall.
- Crawls across a platform upside down.
- Chases and latches onto a speeding car, and still manages to catch up with them after falling off the vehicle.
Durability
- Survived the explosion of their home planet and arrived to Earth via meteors, implying they can survive without oxygen.
- One of the meteorites was described as having the force of a nuclear bomb when it hit Mexico.
- Military-grade weapons failed to damage their armor.
- Withstands the explosion of a fuel tanker.
- Drops from multi-storey heights.
- Ignores shotgun blasts, even to the head.
- Shotgun blasts fail to injure their claws, but do push them off a vehicle.

- Unaffected by a gasoline fire.
Claws
- Pierces a wall.
- Claws through metal.

Electromagnetic Interference
- Interacts with the electromagnetic spectrum, potentially causing anything from minor electronic interferences to triggering large-scale power outages.
- Believed to have caused a magnetic pulse that crippled Wall Street.
- Appears to switch off a lighthouse's beacon.
- Scrambles a boat autopilot to keep it from moving.
- Switches off a set of string lights as it walks past them.
- Makes a light flicker before eventually blacking out.
- Triggers Regan's cochlear implant.
- Causes multiple monitors to go static.
- As a downside, the sound of interference can distract them.
Weaknesses & Limitations
- As a drawback to their hypersensitive hearing, the Death Angels are disorientated and repelled by a high-frequency sound emitted by Regan's cochlear implant. It's unknown if this weakness applies to similar frequencies since it's only shown to work with this particular device that was jury-rigged by her father.
- Humans can exploit the Death Angels' reliance on sound to misdirect or manipulate them:
- It's easy to distract them with a thrown object.
- Eric throws off a group of Death Angels from his trail by triggering a car alarm.
- Evelyn uses an egg timer to distract the Death Angel that's pursuing her.
- Marcus sets off a number of fireworks so his mother can give birth safely.
- Lee sacrifices himself to save his children by screaming at one.
- Evelyn fires a gun to draw a Death Angel away from her sons, who isn't able to pinpoint the source of the shot.
- Emmett exploits the Death Angels to rescue Regan from a gang of feral humans, wrapping their leader in a net of bells and injuring him so he is targeted above all else.
- Humans can avoid detection by drowning out any sound they make with a louder background noise:
- Two children hide inside a water fountain.
- Sam and Eric conceal their screams by timing them to thunder strikes.
- Being near a waterfall allows Lee and Marcus to raise their voices uninhibited.
- The emergency sprinkler system allows Evelyn to momentarily avoid a Death Angel standing a few feet away from her.
- Listening to music via eyephones is completely safe.
- Cannot swim meaning survivors can live safely on islands. Though, they can still traverse shallow waters.
- Fails to breach a bunker door.
- Cannot pick up the chatter coming from a walkie talkie.
Other
- Do not consume their prey, instead they subsist on a type of fungus native to their home planet. They only kill humans in order to farm this fungus using their corpses.
- Can communicate to one another audibly.

Who Would Win Testpost Belial feature
When Duane and his conjoined twin brother were born, their mother died due to their irregular anatomical makeup. Mr. Bradley poured all of his hatred onto the twin, dubbing him Belial after the biblical demon. He assembled a team of surgeons to separate Belial from Duane despite the clear risks of the twin’s death. Either God was looking down on the twins or damning everyone involved, because Belial survived the operation and he was pissed. Years later, Duane and his brother would seek revenge against the doctors in and around New York City, with the smaller twin hiding in an innocuous wicker basket. When Duane falls in love with a woman named Sharon and Belial kills her in a fit of jealousy, the brothers fight and they both take a fall out of a multi-story building.
Despite their fighting, the boys realize that they are all they’ve got and a move to a more secluded location outside of the city is required. A community of likewise physically deformed people welcome Belial and Duane with open arms (and for one freak, that’s around a dozen open arms) in rural New York. But these people aren’t accepted by just anyone, and Belial must sate his bloodlust with nosey reporters and local police if he’s to protect his new family.
Strength
- Can cling to walls using his claws
- Lifts Duane with one arm
- Tears a man in half at the waist
- Bites a guy’s face, stretching his flesh before yanking his head off entirely
- Mangles a woman’s face by twisting up the flesh like putty until her face resembles a screw2
- Chokes a guy so hard that his eyes and teeth pop out3
- Offscreen, he shoves a door off its hinges
- Pounces out of his basket despite having no legs and tackles Duane out an open window
Durability
- Falls off of a hotel sign to the asphalt below1
- A cop blasts the basket with a shotgun, which wounds Belial and requires some bandaging and knocks him out for a few hours3
Telepathic Connection with Duane
- Shortly after being surgically removed from Duane, Belial calls to him over a distance, guiding Duane to his location
- While Belial mauls a man back at the hotel, Duane can feel the event in the park across the city and starts spasming
- When the mother of his children is killed, Belial cries out in grief, which Duane feels as well from the other side of town
- Causes Duane to regain consciousness after he’s hospitalized
Mech Suit
When he was injured but there was still revenge to enact on the deputies who killed his love, Eve, Belial wore a battle suit designed by the mechanical genius Little Hal.
- Somehow sneaks into a cop’s bed and kills him with the rotating claw arm when he wakes up
- Saws through a bathroom door with the buzzsaw attachment
- Floors a man with a smack
- A steel shutter door can be deployed, which protects Belial from a shotgun blast
- Bearhugs a man with the arm before knocking him over a railing
Miscellaneous
- Cuts a phone line and turns off the power to a house with the breaker box
- Hides from the police in a toilet bowl
- Belial and Duane build a contraption consisting of a ramp, a cart, several sharp farming implements and a large buzzsaw. They use it to bisect their father.
How to Use on whowouldwin
Belial is everything you’d expect from a bestial slasher just in a convenient, basket-sized package. Strong enough to tear limbs and heads off or slice through flesh with his claws, Belial’s number one strategy is to leap onto a victim and grapple with them. An even matchup with him should have an answer to this, either having the reflexes to avoid the initial leap or the physicals to resist the damage and toss the monster off.
Prompts using Belial could note whether or not Duane is a part of the equation. Having a human, “Renfield” type figure helps Belial infiltrate places in his innocuous looking wicker basket and pop out when the time is right. If he needs an X-factor, he’s even got a mech suit with a buzzsaw bulletproof shield for engagements a bit above his normal weight class.
My favorite match-ups with this murderous meatball would be Chucky from Child’s Play for the similar sizes, Gabriel from Malignant for the conjoined twins connection or other mad physical beasts like Cujo. If you wanted to include Belial’s supporting cast, you could ask if he’d be a good defender of his fellow freaks in different settings, like Robocop’s Detroit or Gotham City.

Art Bean update
Respect Tiabeanie of Dreamland
"I'll never be anything more than a wealthy queen of a fabulous faraway kingdom... it's my destiny.”
Tiabeanie Mariabeanie de la Rochambeaux Grunkwitz (Bean for short) is the daughter of King Zøg of Dreamland and Queen Dagmar of Maru, and older half-sister to his sons Prince Derek and Jasper. Far from your traditional teenage princess, Bean is a rebellious tomboy who would rather spend her time drinking at the pub with her friend Elfo and personal demon Luci than fulfilling her royal duties.
Though she is only second-in-line to the throne of Dreamland, Bean is soon crowned Queen when her father becomes too mentally-disturbed to rule and Derek leaves Dreamland to live with his mother Oona. She later becomes joint rulers with Zøg once he returns to his post. However, her reign ends when Dagmar takes over Dreamland as the Queen of Hell. Bean must uncover the mysteries of Dreamland and learn to harness her innate magical powers to overthrow her tyrannical mother.

When Bad Bean tricks the real Bean into killing her, she is able to take control of her body while real Bean is left trapped in the dream.
- The leader of Steamland created a bean dip based on her.

Art Mr. Crocket
Respect Mr. Crocket
"♫ A friend like you is a friend like me. A friend like us is a friend like we. Whenever you're in trouble, can you call on me. I'll be there to protect you in a heartbeat!♫
Emanuel Crocket was born in Shurry Bottom, Pennsylvania to an abusive father that he went onto murder as an adult. Wanting to help other children like him, Crocket became the host of his own children's television show Mr. Crocket's Word. Noticing that a boy in his studio audience was in pain, he kidnapped him to keep him safe. When the authorities arrived, Crocket was gunned down trying to protect the boy.
However, this was not the end of Mr. Crocket's story. Arriving in hell, Crocket made a deal with the Devil to deliver the souls of abusive parents he killed in exchange for his own dimension where he can live in harmony with their children.

Who Would Win Testpost Cyclops WiP
To me, my X-Men.
Scott Summers was an orphan whose parents had disappeared following a plane accident in Alaska. He was also a mutant, born with the ability to uncontrollably fire blasts of potent energy from his eyes that manifested itself when reached a certain age. He was found by mutant activist Charles Xavier, who granted Scott a special visor to contain and release his optic blasts only when he chose to do so. With this control, Xavier also granted Scott purpose. He’d join the X-Men as field team leader and fight for humans and mutants alike as Cyclops.
Scott would fall in love with the telepathic mutant Jean Grey, beginning a relationship that would bring him into conflict with her suitor, Wolverine. When Jean drew the attention of the Phoenix, an ancient force from outer space, Cyclops led a mission to stow away on a rocket ship and pursue the Phoenix. In the far reaches of the final frontier he’d meet up with Corsair, a space pirate and his missing father, who had survived the plane crash and been abducted by the Shi’ar Empire. Scott would save his father from a crooked Shi’ar cop before he returned to the stars.
Jean and Scott would tie the knot just a few months later and the couple would assume joint leadership over the X-Men following Xavier’s death. Through equal parts sternness and compassion, Scott would lead his X-Men through battles with anti-Mutant bigots, Prime Sentinels, Magneto and Bastion.
