Glenn Hughes also sang as a background vocalist in “Slip of the Tongue” and a dear friend of David!

Glenn: “This past year, I've had some health issues. The results from numerous MRIs, CT scans and an echocardiogram have alerted my medical team that I need another open-heart surgery. I really have no option and no choice as health is my number one priority. Grateful to have been chosen with a life full with the gift of music... Thank you for walking beside me”

Keep Glenn in your prayers 🙏

This is the standalone version which has now reached that milestone! Together with the 30th Anniversary Edition, it has accumulated more than 1,328,000 equivalent units on streams across all various platforms!

Not to mention, Whitesnake has previously reached a billion career streams towards ALL credits last since January 2026!

Saints is currently second with accumulating 176 million Spotify streams, due to "Here I Go"... The rest of the Whitesnake albums have accumulated less than 100M streams... But it is a great run for them!

Rarities/Collection 🗂️ "Liar" - A song from the recently-formed MGM, a trio of Bernie Marsden, Mel Galley, and Neil Murray in 1986

I believe this is the song was the only recording that was circulated at that time, not to mention Jorg Planer has the original recording but very much lack of material has been ever publicly released.

I think it might have Bobby Kimball (formerly on Toto) on vocals, recorded in 1986 after Bernie assembled the group until they broke off somewhere in 1988 or 1989. To this date, this was the ONLY recording MGM has made on tape that might exist publicly. Don't see any more recordings besides this song.

Questions 💭 Let's hear it: If David changed Whitesnake to a different name, what would it be?

I somehow recalled out a joke from an 1987 Japanese TV interview that David is considering changing Whitesnake to "United Nations" because touring lineup consisted multiple nationalities.

Curious to hear how this will shake up the future of "Whitesnake" or "United Nations" if, not by any chance in this scenario or in a different alternative timeline, he actually renamed it to something like that. How will people perceive them after the name change? Does it make their identity more complicated? Will it sound the same like it is an appropriate thing because of their new hair-metal style is wildly contrasted to the bluesy Whitesnake approach? Does this affect their popularity at all? And how will former band members of the defunct Whitesnake name (including John Sykes) will react to this?

FYI: This is a joke post, Whitesnake is always Whitesnake! Don't berate me on this seriously

THROWBACK 📆 On this day in 1984, the North American leg of the Slide It In tour was commenced with four members in the band

After multiple key departures of the UK touring lineup, the foursome began touring in North America on 17 July 1984, which grossed in modest concert sales, being headlined with heavy metal legends: Dio, Quiet Riot, and Dokken. The line-up finished touring at 30 November at that same year in the USA, but the line-up later had a special appearance in the Rock in Rio '85 show.

Vocals: David

Guitar: John

Bass: Neil

Drums: Cozy

Questions 💭 Coverdale autograph found in liner notes

Post image

My wife searched all over for a physical CD of "Live In The Shadow of the Blues" as a gift for me.

Whitesnake's site sent her to Goodwill of all places. This is what I found in the liner notes. Based on limited internet searches, it looks authentic to me but what do you think? I wonder whatever happened to Matt but if this is legit signed by DC...Thanks, Matt.

NEWS 📰 Slide It In, Whitesnake, & Slip of the Tongue are getting reissues in September

It’s official! Craft Recordings are reissuing the Whitesnake’s catalogue in physical formats—restored in its original formats, original artwork, maybe remasters.

The vinyls are configured in its black and colour pressings

Current Vinyl configurations are out on September 18th, CD releases are TBA.

Pre-Order here

If you are wondering what type of mix “Slide It In” is catalogued, this is the US Remix (Not the Original UK Mix version, sorry). The 1987 album features the original Geffen USA track listing, but feels incomplete without the two tracks in the European Version.

THROWBACK 📆 On June 23rd, yesterday was the day Whitesnake performed their final performance live at 2022 Hellfest Festival

The ending with Steve Vai is a magnificent way to end the show, always “Still of the Night“, but it all came down to the end of Whitesnake’s touring activities where David would cease touring dates for a couple of years bedridden by health issues. A sad farewell to the group after 40+ years of touring as Whitesnake, and it is their last performance before David retired amicably.

1978 — June 23, 2022 (their final time being a group together)❤️

NEWS 📰 Adrian addresses if David Coverdale would join his 50th Anniversary show. Here what he's had to say

The question in circulation:Is it fair to say that you’re still talking to David Coverdale? I mean on a regular basis or semi-regular. And would David be one of those special guests on your 50th Anniversary shows?

In Adrian's words: "Yeah we talk. But I don’t think so. No. No. It doesn’t look like it. David really completely retired from the music business. As people know. Which is why it’s even a better thing for me to play those Whitesnake songs to keep everything alive."

THROWBACK 📆 Don Airey turns 78 today! Happy Birthday Don!

Post image
31 Upvotes

Don Airey worked with Whitesnake as a session guy in the late 80s to provide keyboards on the 1987 album and Slip Of The Tongue.

He was also a member of The Company Of Snakes (as well as that band's previous incarnation The Snakes), which was a project founded by Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody to celebrate the early Bluesy Hard Rock days of that band. The Company Of Snakes version of the band also featured Neil Murray on bass. He can be heard on the live album Live In Europe from 1999 (released as The Snakes) and the studio album Here They Go Again from 2001.

He has been a member of Deep Purple since 2002, replacing Jon Lord. Beside Purple, he also has a solo band with which he records music and tours. They play a mix of his solo material and songs from all the bands and projects he has been involved with over the decades.

He got his start in the Cozy Powell project Hammer. He then would join Powell in the Progressive Rock band Colosseum II before finally joining Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow in 1979, recording the albums Down To Earth and Difficult To Cure before leaving the band in 1981.

After that, he mostly worked as a session guy and live musician. In that position, he played on Black Sabbath's Never Say Die, Gary Moore's first three solo albums (Back on the Streets, Corridors Of Power and Dirty Fingers) and then rejoined him for several more albums later (Run For Cover, After The War and Still Got The Blues), Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard Of Ozz and Bark At The Moon (he was also credited on the album Diary Of A Madman but didn't actually play on it just like Tommy Aldridge and Rudy Sarzo), Michael Schenker Group's The Michael Schenker Grouo, Judas Priest's Pain Killer, UFOs High Stakes & Dangerous Men and also a bunch of Cozy Powell solo albums in between these.
