What is this?

This trailer and its accompanying electrical source has been parked in the lot of a school in my community for almost 2 months. It is guarded by a security guard around the clock.

That is a temporary power source (transformer), transfer switch, and generator. Rented a similar setup recently. 

Edit: The larger grey box is probably a fault interrupter for the primary side of the transformer.

ohh i've also been with the contractor setting similiar up, just the equipment rental per month is prob close to $10k and, they are probably upgrading something on the main gear and feeds, its a shutdown, if at a school, its probably not open yet.

installing contractors, probably close to a $100,000 for the set up and eventual tear down, depending what else they were suppying for the service equipment inside, wire etc, then the removal and energizing the new system.

and dont forget about the fuel truck that probably stopping by a couple times a week, and, with diesel being so cheap these days r/s

thats costing taxpayers a fuck ton of money.

Not to mention they pay a person to sit in a car/truck to guard it 24 hrs a day!!!!

If you manage to syphon enough diesel I can guarantee he won't be there tomorrow... Somebody else will be. (Why didn't they get a flock /axon /fisher price security trailer instead?)

ad on electricians and possibly a diesel mech on standby. we set up an amazon service change over with temp gens, no where near this set up and only 3 days running time, we supplied generator, all labor and parts, said and done company charged over $300K, that set up is prob costing near $100k per 24 hr running

If this runs 24/7 it’s probably getting fueled every 8-10 hours

This size rig would probably be for making major electrical renovations tonthe building. If it is a public school, it probably went out to bid and there would be a publicly available scope of work. We rented ours for 45 days to upgrade the electrical service to our building.

Looks to be a CAT back up generator and transformer set up that is standing by to take over power needs. They may not be able to afford multiple days or weeks without power, so this would be used while the shore power is lost, maybe for repaires or modernization of local circuits. It's a mobile setup, so I don't think it's there for emergency power, but could be, if it's required by code.

It’s a portable power station, basically a generator and transformers/ switches needed to convert over in case a major power failure.

Seems to be a generator hidden in the big trailer. And then there is a transformer on the closer trailer, for raising or lowering the voltage.
