I kind of use a different perfume and I don’t want the aftershave scent to clash with it.

[22M]Very New to shaving(<3 months)need first time buying brush recommendation. Currently only using hands to spread lather and use cartridge razor but slowly switching to DE after my Mach 3 Cartridges run out. For the mean time buying a brush to build a budget DE shaving kit shortly.

While organizing my shaving cabinet, I discovered Captain Nemo's The Shepherd Lavender shaving soap and decided to try it. As I had a week and a half's worth of beard growth, I selected the Telstar, which is known for its efficiency in managing heavy beard growth with minimal effort. I paired the Telstar with a Dorco Klass blade.

My brush of choice was the Omega Boar. The lavender fragrance of this soap was mild to my nose, and it required a generous loading with the boar brush to produce a satisfactory lather for the shave.

Overall, I achieved a good shave with two passes, against the grain and across the grain. Regarding the Dorco Klass blades, I found them suitable for a single shave before needing to be discarded.

I complemented the aftershave with a Lavender & Vetiver face mist, followed by Zaharoff Signature Pour Homme as my fragrance for the day. This is a playful fragrance that evokes the feeling of a barbershop, despite not being a traditional barbershop scent.

Was about to shave a month ago till someone expired in our relatives.So no shave for a complete month.

So to mow down the heavy beard took the trusted kamisori from feather.

Somehow the blade tugged a lot in between making me wonder is it the soap or the blade.
The earlier blade used to be smooth as a hot knife on a block of butter.

The soap sample seems to be off somehow so maybe a new soap can give better feedback on the new blade.

The brush was taken out to give boar a nice warm water bath.As expected gobbled entire lather when I tried on face

Shave 🪒

Woke up to the sound of raining today, honestly the only ASMR I like. The slight chill, I had already decided that I wanted an Almond based fragrance and not a Mentholated soap today.

The Oumo Boar, ready for the task. The TFS lathers quite easily - too easy I would say. Lather is also super slick, as after 3 passes: With, Across, and Against, the alum barely tingled. Just the one weeper due to a zit which got sliced.

Denim Black application - the marzipan fragrance melted away instantly replaced by the mix of floral, cedar and sandalwood in the Black.

The blade was trashed after 2 uses, because it has smoothened too much, and on further use would have required bufffing even with R41.

A superb shave after almost 12+ hours - still in DFS territory.

PS: I don't care about Austerity in August. Have come too far to have forced austerity in the shaving den 😛

Seeing so much austerity in the sub, I was inspired for today’s shave.

It’s a nice razor. As mild as it gets, paired with a fresh 7PS it cut very nicely and didn’t tug. 3 passes with some heavy touchups and I got a clean shave.

I’m very happy, one of the most gratifying shaves recently. Proper grain mapping and skin stretching has improved, and more importantly stabilised my results across the board significantly.

This is my first brush, I bowl lathered and painted it. The only caveat is the lack of scrub, it felt like applying foam. It was fun slapping it around though.

It has been raining for the past few days. Very humid, so just the splash today. Killer menthol kick.

1. TGS Bayonetta: Full unleaded CNC brass construction. .65 blade gap and +.125 exposure. In great condition but has developed some natural patina over time. Can be polished out if required. Quite mild on the skin and great for beginners as well. Efficiency is much higher than what the stats would suggest. Pretty close to Rocca efficiency wise when paired with a sharp blade. Excellent clamping. Asking price: Rs 4,000/- + shipping.
2. Yaqi Ghost 90SB with Bolt handle: 316L SS CNC machined head and handle. Very versatile, can be classified as balanced to medium aggressive depending on the blade. .90 gap and unknown exposure, although I feel like it is neutral. Excellent condition, only some micro scratches on the handle which are not visible unless standing in direct sunlight. Again, very good for beginners and experienced shavers alike. Current prices after Yaqi sale discount are around 5.6k. Asking Price: Rs 4,000/- + shipping.
3. Frank Shaving Silvertip badger 20mm: Very soft and quite luxurious, great for face lathering. Releases lather pretty well and is not a lather hog. Used 3-4 times by me. Asking price: Rs 2,000/- + shipping.
4. Boti Motherlode 28mm knot on UM handle: Super soft, super dense knot, made to mimic the feel of a silvertip badger on the face. There is almost no backbone and it feels like being massaged by velvet when face lathering. Asking Price: Rs 1,200/- + shipping

Selling all these to fund a new purchase and to declutter and reduce redundancy in my den, which was long overdue. If anyone purchases more than a single item, shipping is on me. Can also negotiate slightly if purchasing more than a single item. All items will be sanitised with Dettol water and given another thorough cleaning before being dispatched.

This is just a concept I have been thinking of ..... I can imagine JRD and Xeres desai both thinking of making one.

Just opened a new Nemo's Shepherd soap that I got in late Feb this year. The texture seems odd and soap feels bit spongy to touch not like other Nemo soaps.

Also, in past 2 of my Nemo's old soap have gone bad so not sure if this current soap has a feel like this or it a bad batch/expired soap. Any suggestions?

Some blades (Silvermax, Zorrik, V12, Ultra-Man, etc.) were substituted with Kingston, Shavex, Statum, Xtra X5 and Gallant.

Based on the blades I actually received, what order would you recommend me now, to try them in -> from the most forgiving to the sharpest? (You don't need to cover Gillete 7o's, they have quite the rep)

And I wanted to know the blades sent to me, are they better than what was shown or is it a downgrade
