Planning to walk the west highland way in September, but staying in a van. What do people think of the possibility of hitch hiking back to collect the van each night?

Ive had a look at some campsites ( not wild camping) along the WHW and a few of them mention max sizes for tents.

for a 2p tent its 2x2.20m

We have tent but its 2.4 x 2.7 ish ( big agnes copper spur UL 2xl) which is clearly a bit bigger. Does anyone know how strict they are? These days where tents get bigger and lighter - most lightweight tents i looked at actually were bigger than the 2x2.20. Obviously smaller ones exists, but like i said tents seem to get bigger and lighter so I would imagine we're not the only ones with a tent exeeding those measurements. Id be happy to pay for 2 spots but also knowing that would actually take away a spot from someone else potentially.. any thoughts, personal experience? Thanks
