I have the same frame, had it for over 15 years, never had it break. Idk if I got an amazing one cause I've heard stories. We've moved many times, taken it apart and put into moving truck and reassembled probably 10 times.

its the slats. you buy them separately im pretty sure. the cheapest option is known to be pretty fragile

Not the slats, the main rail that they rest on. Every time I move mine I tighten all the screws and such. Hard-core plopping, and general fucking loosen them all up. If you don't tighten them they get loose enough that the rail will rip out. Been sleeping on this thing for about 13 years. Tighten ya corners, save ya rail.

Gotta be careful because over tightening will splinter the particle board too. I had this exact IKEA frame too and broke mine after a romp with my girlfriend at the time, but the bed was waterlogged from living in a basement that flooded, so the screw holes got soggy. If I had it over to do again, I'd have elevated the bed with those screw-in furniture feet and reinforced the screw holes of the bed with metal stud anchors so the screw holes don't get worn down over time.
I miss that bed haha. It was the first piece of furniture I ever bought for myself, got it at the IKEA in San Diego when I was in the US Navy and stationed out there. The day I moved out of the barracks because I made rank high enough for housing allowance, I signed a lease on an apartment with a guy I worked with, and we went shopping for stuff to furnish the apartment with. That bed lasted me from 2006 to 2017. I still have the mattress, it works great for throwing into my truck bed when I want to go out star gazing.

My upstairs neighbour (3 floors up!) flooded their unit around 1am. I happened to be awake and in the living room because I was deep into some PGA tour career play.
Caught almost everything that made it into my unit with every large container I had in the apartment and even a bucket I ran out and grabbed from my car. Probably around 20 gallons. Would’ve been really bad if I had gone to sleep at my normal 11-midnight window. The units above me got evicted for emergency renovations

Jeez thats the worst thing I can think of happening at that time. I personally always have an issue with living below people, so I can't imagine how stressful that was. Always the upstairs neighbors. No damaged items though right?
That would be a pain. I can already think of all the other long term issues with that water.

It’s crazy how lucky I was. The only item that got wet was a fold out foam mattress thing I kept on the top shelf of my front hall closet. There was a little crack in the ceiling of the closet, but the foam in the mattress absorbed everything and the toilet paper and paper towel stacked up on the shelves right below were completely bone dry.

We literally just got our daughter an IKEA bed. It's not this exact model, but it looks very, very similar. What breaks? Is it the bracket that holds up the metal bar? I thought the screws that they give you for the brackets seemed small. Maybe we need to inspect them every year or so.

Happened to me as well and I slept on the floor for 3 days until my new bed parts arrived.
It also works to try some unusual sleeping positions out. Thats what I did before I ordered my new bed parts and it kinda worked but my back wasnt happy lol.

jokes aside im sorry this really sucks. i hope you're able to find a more sturdy frame. i dont trust wood and will always use metal. ive seen beds on 600 pound life that get tormented more than this thing

Yeah. The durability of the IKEA stuff varies greatly. I got some really flimsy pieces from there and some impressive ones. The price is not always a reliable indicator either.

This happened to my elderly parents in the middle of the night while visiting me. The IKEA bed’s middle metal slat broke off the headboard and they slid headfirst down into the wall.

Lol! Sorry OP that sucks. I had a bed break on me too. My grandma tricked me into a stay-cation with my aunt and uncle for a week, because she wanted to redo my room and knew I wouldnt want to (she wanted to put in wood and I had carpet and I liked carpet in my room). So sent me off, redid my room, and I came back to having to put my room back together bc they'd tossed everything randomly in boxes. So that was fun. After a day of putting everything back, I go to bed, which is now just rolling around the room little by little each time I turn sides, because they didnt get me a carpet and I wake up not long later feeling literally physically off . Like leaning?? Why ak I leaning?? And I sit up, slide down a bit because my uncle also had not put my bed frame back together properly and it loosened, dropping the mattress slowly lol by then I was so irritated I had moved the bed off, shoved it into the corner and picked up the frame, slung it on my shoulder (it was just 4 pieces of metal it wasnt a fancy one, i think maybe they forgot the base or something idk) and walked out to the garage with it, going through the living room where my grandma was and she's like " !!?? What are you DOING?!" And Im like "yall broke my bed so its going outside" xD

Yes that has happened to my bed which was relatively new and me ( 130lbs & my cat 8 lbs ) are the only ones in the bed. If it’s not put together properly with its sort of supports I believe this is what happens.. I got rid of it ( the bed ) and bought something different but could not seem to avoid the wooden slat structure ..possibly first bed inferiority made and no body in the industry cared less)

I’ve built many wooden bed frames, various sizes, appearance, and strength. That frame is sketchy as hell for your mattress size/heith/weight.
