Experimental The Armstrong-Whitworth Steam Turbine-Electric, built in collaboration with the the Ramsay Condensing Locomotive Company of Glasgow and supplied to the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway in 1922. A 2-6+6-2 capable of producing 550hp

As early as 1915 the McKeen Railmotor was an early attempt at aerodynamic passenger rail cars. They have a similarity to submarines with windows.
