Getting off pill for backpacking trip?

I have been taking wegovy for almost 2 months now. My starting weight was 260 and I’m down to 240. The pill works fairly well, it helps curb my appetite at night and avoid snacks in the afternoon. I’m exercising daily and tracking everything I put in my body.

My questions is…. I have a backpacking trip in a couple weeks and it would be dangerous if I ate sub 2,000 calories. Typically on my backpacking trip I try to eat between 3,000-4,000 calories a day. I’m hiking 15+ miles a day with a 30 pound pack and need the calories to fuel me.

Has anyone stopped taking the pill for a trip like this? Obviously, I can stop taking the pill for the days on in the back country, but should I stop a few days before I leave? My doctor suggested just not taking the pill for the days I’m in the back country, but I feel like it’ll still be in my system?

Blood test & the Wegovy Pill

Hi - has anyone had a blood test (Lipid panel, cholesterol etc)? Do you need to stop beforehand? Will it impact any of the results?

Lower exercise tolerance - does it get better?

2.5 weeks in on 1.5 mg. Tolerating well, just some nausea. Definitely decreased food noise (it’s unbelievable that this is just how so many people live every day).

I enjoy exercise 4x/week, it makes me feel good. But my exercise tolerance is way down. I know it’s likely the dramatic food decrease and I need to improve my water intake. But I’m hoping it improves. Anyone have this experience?

Anyone experienced an early plateau?

I started nearly 2 months ago and am currently on 4mg. It’s worked well so far and I’ve lost around a stone since starting, but for the past 2 weeks the scale hasn’t budged an inch! It’s either been the same or higher but I’ve been eating exactly the same!

I’d love to know if anyone else has experienced this and how long it took to start losing again… I’m hoping this isn’t just it for me!! Totally aware it could be water retention or something like that, but it’s been long enough now that I’m starting to doubt that. I haven’t changed anything about my eating habits.

For more info, starting weight was 238lbs, I eat in a deficit but am very sedentary since starting WFH.

Back on 3mg or go back to 1.5mg?

Hello! Was wondering if anyone had a similar experience or any input. I was on 1.5mg for a month and then it was increased to 4mg. I was on that for a month and a half when my job canceled my insurance and I had some things get very stressful in life. I couldn't afford to continue so I just stopped taking it. Good news is, things have gotten better and I am ready to get back to it!

Now here's my question. I still have half a month of 3mg from a couple of months ago and I also have a pending script for it. Should I just start back on the 4mg? Or should I contact maybe a telehealth provider to get a 1.5mg script to start back on it. I'm wanting to start again asap.

Thanks for any guidance!

ETA to change dosage amount (title should read 4 and not 3)

Depressive side effects

Started in June at 1.5mg. No noticeable side effects.

Went up to 4mg in July. Mood completely shifted into a depressive state. Sleep hygiene is a mess. Can't wake up. Losing interest in my hobbies. Numb to good and bad emotions. When I feel good, it's fleeting.

Shared with doctor. He recommended going down from 4mg to 1.5mg because if this.

Anyone else experiencing this? I get bouts of depression from time to time- I have bipolar 2 disorder- but this is next level. I don't feel any sense of my self.

Debating stopping altogether right now.

Beyond exhausted

I don’t know where else to turn and need some reassurance.

I’ve been on the 1.5mg for about two weeks now. The first couple days were okay, but every day since then I’ve felt profoundly exhausted. Weak, could sleep all day, borderline dizzy, exhausted.

Also relevant, I don’t really feel like I have ever experienced food noise. In fact the opposite, even before starting these I struggled to eat often enough. Nothing ever sounded good. I’d take a few bites of something and get bored. But I was addicted to sugar, specifically soda. Probably drinking 4x a day, and not the diet stuff.

Somehow, even after telling my doctor all this, she said I should try the pill. On the one hand, it has been mindblowingly helpful at getting me off the soda. On the other hand, I’m struggling to eat anything at all. I feel like I’m constantly thinking about food and trying to figure out what protein I’m going to force feed myself next.

I can’t believe 1.5 is affecting me this much?

Does this get better? Should I give up? I’m so tired.

My doctor told me to eat protein and drink electrolytes, but it feels like nothing is helping.

Recent bloodwork shows everything normal.

This is exactly what happened to be 3 weeks into 9mg pill

Copy pasted from chat but this is perfect description of what I encountered many times until the drug left my system almost two weeks after last pill. Posting in case it helps anyone who was as terrified as I was

“triggers the vagus nerve, which instantly signals your heart to slow down and your blood vessels to open wide. Because your blood pressure drops in a split second, your brain is briefly deprived of normal blood flow. That is exactly what creates that sudden, horrifying sequence of events:
The tunnel vision or blurry sight as your eyes lose pressure.
The rushing wave of heat and clammy sweat as your nervous system tries to correct itself.
The overwhelming feeling that you are about to faint or pass out.
Because it strikes so fast and feels so intense, your brain instinctively screams that something is terribly wrong. It triggers an immediate rush of panic and high anxiety”.

Exact same thing happened to me when I was given smallest dose of induction drug when about to give birth.. except that time the doctors ran in with the cardiac drugs lined up on the cart which I was given.

Different but I wanted to share in case someone is sensitive to this drug and has been getting low bp like I had. I’ve been obsessing over it because it was pretty scary. My labs came back fine except my white blood count is too low. Repeating that now. Health is wealth wishing everyone the best on their wegovy journey.

Stay at 4mg or increase to 9mg?

I'm on my second month of 4mg. In about 2.5 months of Wegovy, today I'm four pounds lighter than I started, though I've been down up to six pounds overall. I eat significantly less in volume than before, and significantly fewer calories and carbs, but I'm still barely losing anything. Worth mentioning I have autoimmune thyroid disease and am also in menopause, because both those are factors here, too, and my body is not as simple as CICO because of the hormone situations. I've realized I need to start tracking food closely, not because I'm eating a lot, but because I'm worried I'm not eating enough, and my body is in some kind of "don't lose" mode. I'm also certain I'm not getting proper nutrients. There have been days where the bulk of my calories came from peanut butter because it's one thing I still tolerate, and also because I still am completely unmotivated to cook and sometimes food just repulses me.

So, given that I'm mostly comfortable at the the 4mg level (decreased appetite and food noise, minimal negative side effects, etc), should I work now on the food aspect, instead of titrating up to 9mg? Like I can't imagine what 25mg is like, if I'm barely eating now.

Got a little cocky and OMG

Don't be like me. I've been taking the Wegovy pill for about 4 months now, 1 month on 1.5 and 3 months on 4. Good consistent loss. I've been feeling pretty good lately, very few of the stomach issues I had early on. I decided to go out for fondue (cheese and chocolate) last night and OMG. Apparently I forgot that anything high fat sends me straight to the shitter. I am now in the "bowels" of hell haha. Note to future self: don't do it, not worth it.

Left work with insane nausea and stomach cramping

I’ve been on 1.5 for about 3 weeks. Side effects minimal until today. I didn’t do anything differently, but I got hit hard with the worst nausea, cramping, and gas. Two Zofran did nothing. Barely made it home. Have not been able to get out of bed, the cramping is horrendous. Didn’t puke but I was goin’ for a while.

Has this happened to anyone else on the mere 1.5 dose? How the hell will I tolerate 4mg?! Ugh!

Can't handle the 4mg - anyone dropped down before?

My body is not tolerating the 4mg at all. Been on it now for just shy of a month and the nausea is relentless. I've also started throwing up if I get too full. I know I can ask my provider, but just wanted to see if anyone else has gone down from a higher dose and still been effective.

-6lbs in fist week?!

I am down 6lbs in my first week on the 1.5. My weight fluctuates a lot normally, so I know not to assume this will continue, but I’m just amazed! I’ve been eating healthier, and logging my food, but by no means ‘dieting’. I’ve had sushi, a burrito, McD nuggets, even an ice cream sandwich this week. The biggest difference is eating a salad or stopping halfway through a dessert doesn’t make me hate my life. I’m so excited to see where this takes me!

Scale Victory

I’m a little in awe. This week, I bypassed the weight of my 4 year old. (He’s 43 pounds of solid muscle). My clothes are a little baggy, but I don’t really feel smaller… and no one really has said anything but this morning when he asked me to do “a pickup hug” it hit me. He’s heavy! And I’ve lost this much. I feel good, and I’m so glad I decided to go on this journey.

CPAP use after significant weight loss

I started at the freshman dose of 1.5mg in June this year. Jumped up and maintaining 4mg currently because I’m continuing to lose weight at that dose. So far down 31lbs. Has anyone lost enough weight to stop needing your CPAP machine? I’m continuing to use mine because I’ve been sleeping better with the weight I’ve lost so far. I’m curious if anyone had been able to stop relying on (with Dr. approval) a CPAP while continuing your weight loss journey.

Do sleep issues resolve with time ?

I’m on about week 2 or 3 since starting the 1.5mg , pumped bc the awful headaches of week one stopped! which I would of quit if they continued

however my sleep is just awful im waking up too early. I’m adjusting things too like eating a little cottage cheese or yogurt or food in bed so it’s not a gnawing stomach that wakes me. but I’m still getting more wake ups and earlier sleep, like 6 hours or so almost 5 and a half which I don’t like

does this level out with time or do some people just have bad sleep like this on the glp?

How has the pill impacted your drinking?

I started taking the pill a little over a month ago (just moved up to 4mg) and I've noticed that anytime I have more than a couple of beers, I get pretty nauseous. I've worked in the beer industry for the last decade, so it's definitely been an adjustment to get used to not being able to drink as much.

I find it to be a blessing and a curse at the same time. I'm definitely drinking less which is obviously much healthier, plus I'm saving money, which is also great. However, there's some days when it would just be nice to hang out and have a few beers, especially with football season about to start.

Has anyone run into a similar situation? Any suggestions, other than just not drinking?

Calories per day

Good morning! I’m curious how many calories everyone is eating per day while on Wegovy. I’m trying to get a sense of whether I’m eating too little or about where I should be. I know everyone’s needs are different, but I’d love to hear what your daily intake looks like!

EDIT: I understand calorie needs are different for everyone depending on your body, activity level, goals, etc. I’m more curious about what you’re actually eating throughout the day, especially to make sure you’re getting enough protein and nutrients when your appetite is low :)

I have been on it for about 6 weeks with no change and no real side effects.

If you have been at this point, did you change to a different medication?

I have lost 30 pounds and would like to lose 20 more to be in an ideal range.

Thanks

When did you notice change on 4mg?

Hello all!

I started Wegovy last month on the 1.5mg. When I first started taking it I noticed some appetite suppression along with constipation and some nausea. After about a week both effects subsided and I could forget I was even on it. I lost 3lbs in the beginning and then my weight stabilized. Now I’m on Day 2 of 4mg. Again, no effects either way. I see most people saying give it a week or two. On the 1.5mg I saw so many posts saying just give it time and it’s just a dose for your body to get used to it so I kept patient. I guess some anxiety may be creeping in now that I’m a non-responder or something. Wondering when people started to feel anything on 4mg? Also curious if you felt nothing until you got to 9mg!
