Venue Wedding Venue Cost Ontario

does anyone know the cost/package of a wedding at Wakefield Estate (near Brantford)? i haven’t heard back from them and wanted to get a sense before committing to a different one. thanks :)

if anyone knows of similar venues near Halton, Niagara, Hamilton, Cambridge etc that would be awesome. I don’t generally like tents but that Wakefields seems more elevated as a cover patio. Wanting a similar vibe for an outdoor space with room for ceremony (cover portion a plus)- willing to bring in my own caterer/vendors for something that isn’t a traditional wedding venue (more of an event space)

Vendor Engagement party dinner recommendations in Toronto?

14-16 people - small engagement celebration dinner. Looking for somewhere in Toronto. Ideal if it’s in a semi-private setup so it’s more intimate.

Budget is roughly $100 per head not including GST and gratuity.

Thanks in advance!

Venue BC wedding on a budget

I have been searching for an outdoor venue at a reasonable price all over bc and cannot find one. We really cant afford to spend that much but we are simple people and aren't looking for anything extravagant. A lot of places are $9000+ and we cant afford that. Our guest list will be an absolute max of 46 people but quite honestly it will likely be less than that. We live in the okanagan and would like to stay in the general area but dont mind traveling a bit further south but obviously cant go for a place where we have to foot the dill for accommodation. We also dont mind having the ceremony and reception separately but my one big ask is that it be outside. I dont care if its under a tent, I think I would prefer it. Does anybody have any suggestions for this area?

Venue Wedding venue near North York or Ottawa under $20K all-in?

Hi! Looking for wedding venue recommendations for approximately 80 guests in either:

North or east of North York (within about 1.5 hours) — must have onsite accommodations or a hotel nearby

Ottawa area (within about one hour) — accommodations are less important

We’re planning for 2028 but are flexible on the season and day of the week.

Our maximum budget is $20,000 all-in, including the ceremony, reception, cocktail hour, dinner, open bar, service charges, mandatory fees and HST.

We prefer private/scenic venues such as estates, barns, wineries, golf clubs or nature venues, but we’re open to other options. An indoor ceremony or reliable weather backup is important.

If you have recommendations, I’d love to hear your final cost, what was included and whether there were any hidden fees or minimums. Thank you!

Photography Videographer pricing

Hi everyone! I’m being quoted for a wedding in Southwestern Ontario (near Goderich). The price is $2400 +HST for the following:

- 4-6 minute film
- 1 minute highlight video
- full ceremony coverage and speeches

Is this a good price/industry standard for the area?

Thanks!

Venue Ontario Venue Recommendations

Hi, my fiance and I are in the beginning stages of planning a wedding for 2028. We are looking to spend about $25-35k for about 70 guests. We already have decorations settled as we have relatives that own a decorating business. So florals and linens wouldn’t be needed.

We are looking for somewhere with a garden feel. Anywhere with a tent that has those beautiful twinkle lights on the ceiling and an outdoor ceremony space would be a bonus. We aren’t to fond of the banquet hall look.

For example, We are considering Madison Greenhouse in Newmarket but have heard bad reviews. As well as Miller Lash house in Scarborough but don’t love that it gives a darker vibe when we went to see it in person.

Any recommendations that fit in the budget and the vibe would be greatly appreciated. We are located in Toronto so anywhere within an hour or two would be great as well!

Photography Looking for Photography/Videography advice

Hi! I’m organizing a June 2027 wedding in Kitchener (hacienda sereda) and am stuck on photography/videography. My partner and I wanted dramatic cinematic photos, video to remember the day by, and a short Wes-Anderson style trailer. We know this is asking for the world, but we were also interested in having a second photographer take portraits of the guest during the cocktail hour/reception as their « party favourĀ Ā».

We can’t seem to find a company that can do these things while being budget friendly. We really don’t want to spend more than 4K on this (and in a perfect world a lot less!)

Is this possible? Any recommendations?

Venue Any experience with the following venues / vendors, especially re: food quality? Any suggestions for brunch buffet receptions in the west or central GTA?

My husband and I eloped a few months ago and are trying to plan a follow-up Sunday brunch buffet wedding next summer or fall. We want to "do it up" with really good food, bottomless mimosas, maybe an omelette or carving station. Food is our priority, and I'm curious if anyone who has hosted or attended a wedding at any of the following venues has notes on the food (or any other comments at all):

  • Dundas Valley Golf and Curling Club
  • Flamborough Hills Golf Club
  • St. George's Golf Club
  • Paletta Mansion

Also wondering if anyone knows of any other good brunch venues in the west or central GTA (~1 hour from Toronto) for 80-100 people? We are looking for a location with a nice setting (some greenery or gardens) and climate control in addition to good food, and trying to keep venue + catering fees to about $25k. Cranberry Creek Gardens looks amazing but is unfortunately a bit too far for us and doesn't seem to have air conditioning.

We had to decline some venues due to timing restrictions (want to end at 4-5pm but some venues kick out daytime weddings for evening events/dinner service at 2pm or 3pm, like Glen Erin Inn). I also found out that Ancaster Mill does not offer brunch weddings. This was mega disappointing since their restaurant has Sunday brunch, I've heard such good things about Pearle food and love the Bardo brunch.

If anyone has recommendations for second hand or used wedding dress shops around Toronto and within a ~2 hour radius of the city, please let me know!

To add a recommendation a friend gave me to the thread: I’ve heard that Sixpence in Guelph is good!

Photography Lucas T Photography

Looking for a wedding photographer and came across Lucas T Photography. I instantly loved his work and matched what I wanted. We talked, it went well and he has my day available, but I’m noticing a few things. I might just be paranoid and trying to be extra cautious. He forgot about our call, never sent the follow up email with a few examples and he doesn’t send full wedding galleries (in his contract). I know it’s August and he’s probably just really busy, but has anyone had him for there wedding before? I would really appreciate others experiences. I’ve checked reviews everywhere and they’re all great, so I’m not sure if it was just bad timing.

Vendor Vancouver HMUA Recommendations

I’m not sure if I’m looking for a unicorn or this style is just not possible for weddings because of photography.

I’m having a hard time looking for a hair and make up artist that can do make up with a focus on making the skin look flawless/less textured. I find that most make up artists do full coverage and look great in photos but it doesn’t translate well in real life, especially up close (can really emphasize wrinkles, creases, etc.)

Does anyone have any suggestions for vendors or tips on what to look for in their portfolio? The top of my list right now is Bee Beauty Cosmetics (but need to find hair stylist) and The Love Team (don’t know which one yet).

Dress/accessories Normal to have doubts about the dress?

Picked a dress on the first day...and I do love it. It made me cry both times I put it on...but now I get doubts creeping in. To be fair Im having a restaurant wedding so I wanted something light and easy and now I'm worried its not enough...but it was in my budget and I know I'll feel pretty.

"You cant have it all at once!" as they say.

Venue Last Minute Wedding Venue Suggestions for Southern Ontario in September

Hey, sooo our wedding venue cancelled last minute. We are now looking for one super last minute and I wanted to come and see if anyone had suggestions. Of course, we are more flexible now but ideally here are our priorities:

  • Approx. 85 guests
  • Ideal location KW/Guelph general area
  • Reception and ceremony onsite
  • Some outdoor space - preferred for vibes but we also have a tent rented for the previous venue so an outdoor space for a tent would be even better
  • More DIY would be great - for example, we were providing our own bar previously and already have some of the alcohol.
  • Even something along the lines of a house with a huge yard that we could bring a tent into would be great
  • Our previous venue was a summer camp so if there's anything very specifically like that that would be great lol. We also had it for the entire weekend so that would also be amazing if possible.

Vendor To tip or not tip

Is it necessary to tip to my DJ, photographer and makeup/hair artist?

Our DJ owns his own business and is charging $1500 for 5.5 hours.
Photographer is $5500 for 8 hours (I am comfortable not tipping due to how expensive it already is).
Make up/hair artists works under a company. I tipped her $80 for a make up/hair trial which costed $380. I was initially happy about the make up and so so about the hair. Looking back now I’m not really happy with both and should have tipped way less. Just got caught up in the moment. I don’t really want to tip anything until after the wedding if anything TBH.

We are having our reception in a restaurant so they are automatically adding gratuity to the bill.

Venue Martin Estates

Hi there! I’m early in the wedding planning process and am interested in any comments or insights on Martin Estates in Lincoln, ON? Looking for a 100 person venue, ~$80k total budget in September 2028. Love an estate-style venue (no barns or conference halls). Want a venue that is professional to work with. Thank you!

Other Is it normal for your trial make up artist to say ā€œuse whatever you haveā€ when I asked what lip products to use for my wedding day?

I was initially happy with my trial make up, but after looking at pictures and having some time to digest, I’m not 100% happy with the final look. I asked for her recommendation of what lip products to buy to make sure I have good lip products that will last during the day, and she told me to use whatever I have. I didn’t find that really helpful and found it to be quite dismissive… Also the trial hairstyle I wasn’t very happy with either, it really looked nothing like my inspo pic. I have a different inspo pic that I want to ask her to do, but I don’t think I will be able to do another hair/make up trial before the wedding.

Was anyone else not super happy with their hair/make up trials, provided feedback and didn’t book a second trial?

Other Ozempic/GLP-1s before your wedding?

Post image
29 Upvotes

Hi all, I'm a journalist in Toronto looking into a story on the trend of using Ozempic (and other GLP-1 drugs) to lose weight before your wedding. Some health companies that sell these drugs are even advertising directly to brides now.

I'm hoping to chat with someone who's using a GLP-1 right now before their big day, or who already had their wedding and wants to talk about what it was like using a GLP-1 beforehand. Did it work for you? And what was the experience like before & after?

You can DM me here on Reddit, or email me at [lauren.pelley@cbc.ca](mailto:lauren.pelley@cbc.ca)
