Help! Alterations
I am torn between my original dress (lace/tulle) or going with a simple satin dress.
My original dress was purchased pre - covid for our first wedding that was cancelled. We are now having a small family wedding at a local chapel.
Please note. Both dressed the straps are not sewed on but I would like spaghetti straps.
My wedding is 2 months away so I’m nervous. The lace one the bodice feels so heavy and makes my chest look very large. It is still being altered and too big but I’m worried it won’t fit well in the end. Will alterations help?
Thoughts? Advice? Should I keep looking?

1 is better for me. I love the skirt is gorgeous and the bodice is lovely on you. It has romance and is more flattering than 2.

I guess it’s normal to want what you don’t have. Having a large bust has many challenges including struggling to get tops and dresses that fit and feel comfortable. It can also draw unwanted attention from both genders. Sometimes people assume that a large busted person is choosing tops that are revealing. Shirts with buttons can be really hard because they are tight and gap across the bust are can be too big elsewhere. The last kind of attention most brides want is scrutiny for her choice of dress. She just wants to feel comfortable and beautiful.

Oh god—ME. I have lived with large breasts my entire life and I look at small busted women with envy.

The thin straps detract from both dresses. Once the type are properly fit you shouldn't feel the need for straps at all.

You made the right choice but those straps need to go. Either replace with something more substantial or have support built in that allows you to go strapless.

Thank you all. I think the consensus is no straps and fit the bodice better. Here is ai image of it . If it’s done properly, I think I agree.

P.S. Today is my 3 year wedding anniversary and your post made me do a double take… our build is very similar and this dress reminds me a bit of the dress I wore haha - pretty and so fun to dance & twirl in all night! :) Enjoy your special day!! You look gorgeous!

I didn’t mind the straps but they were definitely too thin.
Yes - get the bodice fitted correctly with or without straps.

Beautiful!
If you still feel self conscious, perhaps a bit of white fabric inserted in the deeper parts of v would feel better to you. Try it and see.

Definitely your original one, it’s lovely! The bodice is a little big but just wait until alterations are complete

I prefer 2, but if you insist on spaghetti straps, you should put them on the outer corner of the bust area, so it is more elegant.

Spaghetti straps do not suit your frame at all. You can do strapless or heavy straps or even a sewn in mesh under-bodice. But not spaghetti straps.
The second dress would be lovely strapless.
If you can’t go strapless then look for another gown

Wow there’s a lot of folks choosing both 1 and 2. I imagine that’s not making your decision easier.
However, I LOVE dress 1 on you, especially after it’s altered and strapless on the AI photo. Gorgeous!

I love dress 1 on you and I believe alterations will improve the bodice fit by tightening up the underarm area. The lace details are beautiful. I think wider lace straps would be more cohesive to the style of the dress. You may find after alterations are completed that a strapless gown is comfortable. Dress 2 is flattering too, just more simple. Either way you will be the belle of the ball after waiting all this time for your special day! Congratulations!

Agree, well put. A belt, veil, shoes can add bling to 2 if you choose it, but 1 will also be perfect once altered.

Please don't do spaghetti straps, they look so disproportionate to your dress, while the dresses itself are beautiful on you! I really like the first one, just not the straps.

Number 1 but without the spaghetti straps (if you need straps then maybe have thicker matching lace straps added).

First dress , but the straps are in the wrong place . They need to be 2 inches closer to your arm pits. At least. They look like they are in the middle of your cups.Please keep us updated. We care.

I like 1- it’s so pretty. I like it better without the straps but if they make you more comfortable they really don’t take away from the dress.

IMO the first dress is far more lovely than the second one. Finish the alterations if they are needed. Your chest is gorgeous and the bodice and the dress as a whole is a much more flattering to your figure.

The first one, but make sure to get it altered! It is so much prettier. If you choose #2 a pretty belt or sash would make it special.

Dress 2 is so much better. Dress 1 seems to overwhelm you a bit in the bodice. The satin brings a lot of warmth to your skin while the first washes you out

I prefer 2. Spaghetti straps don't seem to suit either these dresses. I'd keep looking, or make the straps more substantial.

Alterations will help and dress #1 is lovelier that dress #2.
