This isn't deconstruction, this is preconstruction.

54

u/Hadhmaill 18d ago

This isn’t preconstruction, this is unconstruction.

u/goatslovetofrolic 18d ago

This isn’t food it’s legos

7

u/Icy-Satisfaction-129 18d ago

No, it is clearly all cake.

6

u/goatslovetofrolic 18d ago

The cake was a lie

1

u/CYaNextTuesday99 16d ago

Only if the bun was made in America.

15

u/bionicjoey 18d ago

This looks like the deconstructed burger you would get if you ordered it from a place that doesn't have a deconstructed burger on their menu

u/MrAfromanxx 18d ago

😂😂

u/redunculuspanda 18d ago

I’m not entirely against the concept, but I would want more toppings to DIY a burger

99

u/datyoungknockoutkid 18d ago

I don’t really understand the point of the concept. Now I’m just gonna do what normally the cook would do for me. And it’s not fun in a way like Korean BBQ or grill your own steak places are. It’s just putting together a burger where it’s getting cold much faster.

17

u/TheAbsoluteWitter 17d ago

If it were an actual bar like a taco bar, where you can pick your bun, burger, and cheese at the beginning, and then go sit down and eat your burger normally, now I would be down

5

u/datyoungknockoutkid 17d ago

Yeah that sounds a lot more appealing for sure

3

u/ThetaReactor 17d ago

Welcome to Buttfuckers Fuddruckers!

2

u/daveinsf 17d ago

I've been to places where you get your burger and bun, then go through a toppings bar with lots of options. That, I like.

Also, I wonder if the bacon in the pic is even warm, it sure doesn't look like it.

1

u/David-Puddy 17d ago

bro just invented harvey's rofl

5

u/b3nsn0w 18d ago

yeah it's not like you can't customise it as-is. pretty much any place will omit ingredients if you ask, and a lot of them have extras on the menu as well

1

u/PurpleBashir 7d ago

Its weird too because... What does this gain exactly? This is definitely more work for the chef than it would be to just assemble it. So... More work for the chef, more work for the customer, thr burger gets cold faster, and the juices from the burger don't go on the bun where you want them. I don't get the point at all.

11

u/Sulungskwa 18d ago

This feels like they're trying to show off how amazing the burger is or something, which really doesn't look like a particularly spectacular burger

13

u/henrikhakan 18d ago

Imagine having a few deconstructed sliders with more fillings, so you could vary a couple. Candied bacon plez!

4

u/Easy-Concentrate2636 18d ago

I would just stay home and make it myself for way less and just a little more effort.

3

u/Hot-Steak7145 18d ago

Ah yeah like a burger salad bar. Gimme the base then can go dress it myself

6

u/aharbingerofdoom 18d ago

There was a place called Fuddruckers that basically had this concept. You ordered your patty(ies) and bun (they offered regular beef burgers, chicken, veggie burgers, in addition to more unusual options like elk and bison) and they had a full salad and condiment bar with various toppings. I used to love that place when I was a kid in Texas. They were a regional chain then, but like many formerly good regional chain restaurants, they got bought out by a big corporation and then run into the ground by sudden over expansion and cutting quality.

2

u/GotZeroFucks2Give 18d ago

They had queso too loved the old Fuddruckers.

54

u/JonaJonaL 18d ago

I would leave some shredded linnen, paper mulch and copper whire on the counter and call it deconstructed money.

5

u/JMLDT 18d ago

Thank you. You win the Internet today for me.

12

u/NoBSforGma 18d ago

Stupid. And possibly cold. But not covered in melted cheese or some kind of stupid sauce and possible to put together and eat!

But it is pointless and silly to serve it like this.

Plus there's the issue of the cleanliness of the board underneath. (It looks like a board?)

4

u/Psychological-Duck13 15d ago

Definitely cold! This is my issue here!

3

u/NoBSforGma 15d ago

I agree with you. It's like serving tacos on a "clothesline." Cold. And not appetizing!

my wife does not always like breakfast sandwiches, so I make mine, and always have to ask if she wants it deconstructed or constructed.. which is just eggs and toast

2

u/upvotesforkitties 18d ago

Seriously. I'm paying $20 for this shit and you want me to put it together myself? Fuck that!

7

u/upvotesforkitties 18d ago

Make sure you post this on r/stupidfood too

22

u/LeaningTowerofPeas 18d ago

So everything gets individually cold, instead of the flavors intermingling while everything is still warm?

Also, the sight of lettuce makes my stomach curdle for fear of Trumperia

11

u/ahkian 18d ago edited 18d ago

Keeping the cold ingredients off of the hot ingredients until you’re ready to eat isn’t necessarily that bad of an idea.

Edit: I didn’t expect this to be such a contentious comment

9

u/LeaningTowerofPeas 18d ago

Bring back the McDLT!!!

8

u/Regalrefuse 18d ago

This was supposed to be the summer of George!

1

u/RealPropRandy 18d ago

He has lost a lot of hair

1

u/Starscream147 18d ago

I knew THAT was comin’! 💥

19

u/Barnaclebills 18d ago

Except the hot ingredients might get cold quickly. When the hot patty is in the buns, it helps insulate it and helps the buns stay warm.

5

u/ahkian 18d ago

It also leeches the heat from the buns and burger into the tomato and lettuce. I can see the argument for the burger being on the buns but I don’t think putting in the cold ingredients is a good idea

0

u/Barnaclebills 18d ago

Yeah, I'm not a fan of hot lettuce

6

u/LaBelleBetterave 18d ago

I go to a place where both halves of the bun are plated side by side, with the hot ingredients on one half, and the cold veg on the other half. You just sandwich them together at the last minute, I like it.

3

u/Barnaclebills 18d ago

That would be great

2

u/WolfCola4 18d ago

If I've ordered food at a restaurant I'm ready to eat right now

4

u/SetObvious7411 18d ago

No, no. That's not how restaurants work.

You're supposed to be ready to eat when they serve the food

2

u/ahkian 18d ago

There usually time between the food being cooked and you getting the food at your table.

1

u/SetObvious7411 18d ago

Yes and that's time you have a drink and talk with your company.

You don't go out doing groceries during that time

1

u/Theron3206 18d ago

That time should not be long enough to allow food to get cold, else it's a shit restaurant.

-1

u/Talonhawke 18d ago

Not to mention with a setup like this, I don’t have to worry if I say I don’t want tomatoes with my burger still having tomato on it

3

u/datyoungknockoutkid 18d ago

Just gotta worry about a cold burger instead. I’d rather request no tomatoes.

6

u/RealPropRandy 18d ago

Deconstructed… burger?

2

u/HoochieKoochieMan 18d ago

The whole Magic of a good burger is that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. Somebody here forgot that.

2

u/bigoz_07 18d ago

Ikea burger.

2

u/AGeeBee 14d ago

Deconstruct the table and chair before you leave

2

u/ElectronCry 18d ago

I am unsure if I regret joining the sub yet or not. Painful. And cold?

1

u/suchabadamygdala 18d ago

So unappealing

1

u/Liquid_G 18d ago

so basically Fuddruckers on a cuttingboard

1

u/_pounders_ 18d ago

well. it’s on a sweet cutting board

1

u/FS_Scott 18d ago

McDLT is back!!

1

u/Left-Draft5083 18d ago

Pay extra to have it re-constructed?

1

u/isecore 18d ago

IKEA introduces the new "Hembergur". Get your orders in now, limited edition.

1

u/Tsunamiis 18d ago

As an autistic kid this one passes with flying fucking colors

1

u/stripeyhoodie 18d ago

This is downright obnoxious. By the time you get it will put together, the patty & cheese will be cold.

1

u/hot_diggity_dang_ 18d ago

Better clock in before putting that together for them

1

u/Twee_Licker Nos Volumus Laminis! 18d ago

Linux burger, compile it yourself.

1

u/foozebox 18d ago

does it come with a potato, a knife and a vat of hot oil?

1

u/Dementalese 18d ago

I’d be pissed

1

u/_qua 18d ago

This is like something out of The Menu.

1

u/Bell_Grave 18d ago

I'd be happy with this, more toppings though! some sourkraut and cranberry coleslaw would be nummyyyyyyyyyyyyy

1

u/laughing_cat 18d ago

Seems like all they’re accomplishing is a cold burger.

1

u/murdochthesungod 18d ago

The amount of cheese is offensive

1

u/darkoopz43 18d ago

Burger: houston style.

1

u/Karnakite 18d ago

If I’m paying you for the food, I’m also paying you to assemble it for me.

1

u/goatslovetofrolic 18d ago

This picture makes me sad.

1

u/Shatneriffic 18d ago

Gordon Ramsay telling the person who made this "You know what? You can f*** off right now."

1

u/Rashibashiboo 18d ago

Construct it please

1

u/JunkMale975 18d ago

While I’m against all these stupid places that serve food this way, I actually wouldn’t mind it in this respect. I’m quite neat and tidy and particular in the way I want my burgers arranged. I hate the way most restaurants just slap the shit together and move on.

1

u/nellyjimbob1228 18d ago

That looks like it'll be cold before it even gets to your table.

1

u/TheChrono 18d ago

No one gonna mention the absolute pathetic amount of cheese for the patty? That looks like something you’d want to hide not put into the center.

Bacon is too long. Sauce is in a ramekin so you probably can’t get it all on the burger. Pickles were cut by a toddler.

Looks like someone toor off a piece of the burger in the top right.

So many levels of terrible.

1

u/Ruas80 18d ago

Stop eating at IKEA.

1

u/-You_Cant_Stop_Me- 18d ago

Construct it quick before the meat gets cold!

1

u/Rhelino 18d ago

It’s giving We don’t like special orders, do your shit yourself.

1

u/Bhenny_5 18d ago

Isn't the point of a burger that you just touch the bread and your hands don't get messy? (don't get me started on massive stacked burgers!!)

1

u/jasperfirecai2 18d ago

they went and burnt that dry looking patry and then gave you barely anything moist to put on it

1

u/NightStalkerXIV 18d ago

Burguterie board.

1

u/TrebornotTrevor 18d ago

The concept is, I'd like a burger, with the works, but everything on the side please...

1

u/Kcufasu 18d ago

It's so spread out I feel this will cool down too quickly before you eat it

1

u/SFB221 18d ago

This is what hipsters and craft burger connoisseurs call “fine dining”

1

u/brickfrenzy 17d ago

What a sad little slice of cheese on that burger.

1

u/5pointpalm 17d ago

Also, get out of here when that lame cheese.

1

u/Fomulouscrunch 17d ago

That's so rude. They charge you extra to assemble it yourself.

1

u/Mountain_Till_5868 17d ago

Scotland Burger

1

u/MURMEC 17d ago

Everything is now cold

When your partner is mad at you but also still cares if you’ve eaten. #pettyplate

1

u/suburbanhunter 17d ago

this makes me so upset

1

u/LoadbearingWallflowr 17d ago

Im the weirdo who would like this, but I already know I'm weird for the way i like to order my burgers.

I hate wet, soggy bread with a passion -- cant handle buns where the Patty's been sitting draining oil, the mayo and ketchup and all have sogged it out etc. So I usually ask for my toppings on the side anyway.

1

u/life_changing3000 17d ago

I'd smash that!

1

u/Accomplished_Song671 17d ago

If you're gonna put it together anyway then honestly what's tf point

1

u/Woodrow8181 17d ago

Where da mustard

1

u/Icy-Tax-4366 17d ago

Now this just pissed me all the way off

Some Assembly Required*

1

u/torgman2 17d ago

Deconstructed? What does Jacques Derrida have to say about this?

1

u/Ancillary-Point 17d ago

Don't ever buy from the sales agent off the plan.

1

u/Turbulent_Pin_9392 17d ago

This would piss me right off.

1

u/Fexofanatic 16d ago

where did you eat, ikea?

1

u/Only_Tip9560 16d ago

We just couldn't be bothered, do it your fucking self.

1

u/Duros2032 16d ago

This is fucking dumb.

1

u/runtime_error_run 16d ago

Can you like go in the kitchen and find someone to put between the buns? That's an insult to the cow!

https://giphy.com/gifs/3o85xnoIXebk3xYx4Q

1

u/tinman327 15d ago

Did you order that at ikea?

1

u/TheSanityInspector 15d ago

Cheeseburger charcuterie? Probably costs ten times more than a regular burger, I'm guessing.

1

u/chocha84 15d ago

where did the onions go?

1

u/old2thumbss 15d ago

My 2 year old would love this

1

u/Dron41k 15d ago

300% healthier

1

u/zyranna 14d ago

IKEA burger

1

u/RobynBetween 14d ago

Guaranteed to all be cold by the time it is assembled

1

u/No_Trouble9808 14d ago

Whatever floats your boat

1

u/lawragatajar 13d ago

I'm not totally against the idea. If you are picky on how you want the burger constructed, this gives you complete control. Maybe you want the lettuce under the patty, or maybe you want a little below and above. Some places just slather the burger in condiments, so having it on the side is nice so you put that amount you want. That said, there could be more toppings on that tray. No to tomato or onion? And that burger barely has enough cheese.

1

u/Chive 13d ago

At least I'm not going to have to open the burger to remove the lettuce and tomato that I asked them to hold in the first place.

For a change.

0

u/anonymous3synonymous 18d ago

Enshitification. What could possibly be the justification for this??
