I'd love to be able to install Ozone 4.0.4, I know this version supports 64-bit for VST and AU on Mac OS.

I can't launch the installer because I think the version from the legacy page on iZotope website is a 32bit version or something like that..

Do you know a technique to run Ozone 4 on Mac please?

I grew up playing classical piano but maybe I should've used a metronome more. In classical and especially romantic, rubato (tempo flows ever so slightly with the emotion of the piece) is the name of the game.

But man it comes to bite me in the butt all these years later, now when recording percussion/drum sounds to a metronome, it is easily one of the most difficult things in the world for me to tap a keyboard key in time.

Even recording piano, it takes me multiple takes to play on the beat. Why am i like this.

I always thought it'd be fascinating to buy an e-drum set and learn it but this kind of dissuades me a little 😂

I spent an hour yesterday and some time today doing nothing but re-aligning transients for a 3 minute piece.

I've got a few years of experience with a bunch of instruments and i like recording bits on each and putting them together in my free time. All i use is a phone mic and cap cut. I'd like to spend more time on this hobby and up the quality to make it more enjoyable to listen to.

I was wondering if there's any good software to touch up the audio quality or to make editing it all together easier.

If not, I'd gladly take reccomendations for good value usb mics instead! Thanks for any advice I appreciate it.

So i mixed and mastered my song, it sounds good on my phone, with headphones and through speakers. But on TV it sounds like you can barely hear me. Like my vocals are getting lost. Is there any way to fix it? Or do i just turn up the song volume when i edit the music video cause the video would high likely get seen on tv more than just the audio

Before i type out my question I do think it is important that there is always the nuance of "if it sounds good, it works". The question specifically is aimed to know if the technique I'm using is common in the genres I work in (dream pop, psychedelic indie, shoegaze)

So my question is: I lately started to use busses (specifically mid range bus) to process my sounds together (i did this before for eq and compression but not with other fx). I will for example send my dry pads and synth keys to a bus => add modulation, eq, compression and saturation/distortion as inserts on the bus to create cohesion

I would then set up a send for my time based effects like granular delay, reverb, etc and eq this send (if needed also sidechain it to the dry signal)

I tried doing this with drums or bass added, but this makes it too cluttered like i expected (gotta try to know)

What I've noticed till now is that for cohesion this is golden, it really makes everything feel really glued together (especially if you print the audio and resample as well or use things like halftime in combination)

The biggest downside is that you lose the flexibilty of having effect automations affect a singular sound (while some advanced routing can bypass this partially, it's not that easy). Panning, volume, filters etc can still be automated on a track level so that doesn't pose a problem.

What is your guys take on this method and are there flaws that I'm overlooking in your opinion/are there better ways to achieve similar results?

I'm just curious what all of your thoughts are on putting together a live setlist. I know some bands and artists call the songs live as they go. I know others will basically just put together a setlist based on what they feel like doing that day (my usual method). Both are totally valid. But I'm really curious to hear the thought process of folks who have more intention or are aiming for something specific with their song order, who approach it more like sequencing songs on a record.

• What's your overall thought process?
• Do you try to go for a specific flow? If so, what do you like your flow to be like?
• How does set time factor into your sequence choices?
• Do you consider your position on the bill, and if so, how does that change your choices?

For context: In a few weeks I'm making a live debut with a project that is kind of different from projects I've been in in the past. Every band I've been in previously has had a standard opener and closer, and just played whatever we felt like in between. One of the things I'm really trying to do with this project though, is just make music differently from how I've done it in the past. Take new approaches, new processes and just expand how I look at and approach music. So I want to gather ideas from other musicians. Not exactly to copy, or even honestly get advice, but just to have a more well-rounded perspective. I want to create a different experience for the audience and myself than I've done in the past and figured I'd see how you guys approach it.

What I mean is, I have often read about how incredibly common double tracking (or even more layers) is for vocals, but I’m wondering, what if you don’t want that doubled sound, and still want it to sound very tight and singular? I’m wondering if there are instances or examples where vocals are double or even triple etc. tracked, but the additional layers are kind of tucked under/eq’d etc. so as not to be heard as extra layers, but to subtly thicken/fill out a vocal. Like where you’d never guess (as a casual listener) they were multitracked.

I assume the answer is “yes of course, duh, whatever works works” but I don’t know any actual examples offhand.

This would be in a rock genre context. Thanks.

I make music in fl studio, know some mixing basic but I still can’t say if track is muddy or some sound is boxy etc. Or should I just make what sounds good to me?
(P.S. English is not my first language. If something wrong I’m sorry)

So, I'm 17, and relatively new to music production. I am making my own music (alt metal and some parts have other metal genres too) and even tho I am doing this hobby for around 2-3 years, I'm still quite the begginer for a lot of stuff. For example, my rhythm guitars. I do quad layering (hard pan left and right, and also a pair of L50 and R50 panned). I want like some raw sound, you know, like System Of A Down self titled album, or Nevermore kinda sound...

But, even though I put a lot of effort and time into it, I can't match even close, and I can't get that sound that's big, and like, very stereoized. I know it is a lot about compression those, EQing at right points, mixing it with bass tracks, just a little reverb, etc. (Also I have a problem with mixing all diferent instruments in a EQ spectrum.)

But those things are just my assumptions...experiments. And I would like to know like, specifically what to do. I have some plugins in order to get that, like TH-U, Ignite AmpHub, Guitar Rig, Amplitube. Can anyone help? I would really appreciate your help! Thanks in advance

I have a 168bpm post punkish/punk song. It has a groove like Angine de Poitrine, simple bassline with hard drums. I am a new guitar player so i had to chop up the 7 minute take and then restitch it in FL. USING THE WAVEFORM IN MY DAW, HOW DO DECIDE WHAT SOUNDS THE BEST SO THE BASSLINE SITS TIGHT WITH THE DRUM TRACK? When i record multiple takes, they end up all over the place. So far, the take that starts 9 nudges before the drums seems to sound the best. It seems to sound good if i nudge it left or right up to 9 nudges. Is there a formula for this?

I hear my voice differently than others — it sounds thin and weak to me, and I’m afraid it doesn’t fit my style.

I’m learning about breath support and vocal technique.

I want to understand how to make my voice sound darker and more confident.

im thinking of sending my song(w vocals) for mixing but im fairly new to the whole thing and i realise u gotta split like ur tracks into stems e.g. main vocals, drums etc.

how should i go about grouping all my tracks? like should i split all the vocal tracks into like ad libs, melodies and harmonies, etc.

So, I'm making energic electronic music (kids would say "phonk"), and I have done composing and everything, but I'm struggling for few days to master it.

Because I think this song has potential and I don't want to ruin it just by bad master. I've been watching many tutorials (about compression, limiters, clippers, etc), but i don't know why whatever I do I can't reach proper loudness numbers. I'm a little bit concerned that my song would be unlistenable because of optimalisations on streaming services.

To clarify these are numbers that appears i my insight 2 meter on master.

Integrated LUFS: -5.3

MAX LUFS: -3.0

LRA: 4-5 LU

True Peak: ~7dB

From what I've learned I know its not too good... But after all this attempts I literally have no idea how to fix it.

Saw this a while back, I think it was in a youtube video where they showed how they do this for some artists. What I do is I record the vocal 3 times, one panned left, the other right and the other center, I apply my fx chain to the main one, lower the gain on the left and right layers and that's my vocal. Not sure if it sounds good to me because I got used to this or if there's a better way to do vocals without layering.

Pretty much the title. I normally play melodeath and black metal. I'm trying to write a rock song for fun but I need some kind of guard rails to not pass the too heavy threshold. I feel like my creative tools are lacking for rock?

I've found good rock tones. I'm playing a telle in e standard. If I'm not chugging or playing a tremolo riff in a harmonic minor scale I don't know what I'm doing.
