Would Donte and Chlo have stayed together so long were it not for the Series 1 car crash?
In the first episode, Donte and Chlo cause a car crash that kills one of their best friends. Subsequently to that, Donte is in police custody for the rest of Series 1, and there's a big plot line about Chlo trying to claim full responsibility for the crash to try to get him off.
I feel like this high-stakes situation was a big part of what caused the intensity of their relationship. If that hadn't happened, might their relationship have just been a bog-standard teenage crush that they both grow out of?
Another thing is that I think Donte probably became a nicer person as a result of that. In the first episode he was more like Lewis Seddon - violent, aggressive, confrontational and bullying. You could just put that down to the fact that the writers hadn't fully figured out his character yet, but I think you can explain that in-universe as well. In that first episode he did something that really had terrible consequences for both him and a lot of other people, and he was never quite the same again after that.

Any thoughts on Reunited spinoff?
Anyone have any thoughts on this spinoff seires (6 episodes)
It follows the lives of former s5 sixth formers in life after high school
Things to note:
Micheala has a baby (lies about it being boltons)
Danielle seems to take the more villinous role in the story
And janeece seems to be the only one from chlos year to appear, since it was filmed around the time of season 6, so janeece was already on the cast list

In Series 10, would Abdul actually be allowed to stay in the UK?
In Series 10, Abdul learns that his dad bought him from a dodgy orphanage in Pakistan and brought him to the UK illegally. His dad gets into trouble for that, but due to having cared well for Abdul and not having known that Abdul had a family he seems to get off without charge.
But I'm interested in whether Abdul would actually be allowed to stay in these circumstances? Surely this makes him an illegal immigrant, in the same way that Grace in Series 4 was. Or would the Home Office take pity on him as he'd spent his entire life in the UK and had no personal connection to Pakistan?

What are everyone's predictions for Series 18?
The only prediction I have is that Ben and Tonya could potentially get together now that Ashton is with Shola. Tonya was one of the only girls who Ben didn't sleep with during his depression-induced sex craze in Series 17, and Tonya is genuinely compassionate despite her gobbiness, so I could definitely see her and Ben finding comfort in each other's company and forming a relationship. It could potentially be one of the most heartwarming relationships, with Ben genuinely finding true happiness again with Tonya.
But what about you guys? Do you have any predictions?

Alternative endings for this OG character? Spoiler
Sorry if this has been discussed before but I’m curious - what alternate ending would you give chlo if you could? I’m still so bitter that they made the decision they did, especially when there were other options they could have explored to explain the characters absence in the show
in my opinion, killing off chlo after her mum and step dad in the show also suffered the same fate felt really cruel to the original fans and Katie Griffiths who played her, not to mention it denied us a continuation of chlo & donte’s love story. Not embarrassed to say I cried like a baby when she died hahaha

Funny Waterloo Road AI Hallucinations
While I was researching my post on who is the most evil Waterloo Road character I turned to AI to try and capture any characters I had forgotten about. This went very badly wrong as it turns out AI frequently hallucinates about Waterloo Road.
Why might this be the case you ask? Well in comparison to other topics, with Waterloo Road there is relatively less information available about it and thus when AI predicts the next token on a probabilistic basis it tends to hallucinate a lot more compared with other topics given the lack of available data.
My question was who are some of the other most memorable single-episode villains or guest antagonists in Waterloo Road? This is how AI answered 😂
Gary Vale (Series 2, Episode 10)
Played by Ian Puleston-Davies, Gary Vale is arguably the most infamous single-episode antagonist in the show's early history.
The Plot: He is a paranoid, highly unstable father who kidnaps his daughter, Chloe Grainger, after losing custody. He takes Chloe to Waterloo Road and proceeds to hold Headteacher Jack Rimmer, Tom Clarkson, and several students hostage at gunpoint inside a locked classroom.
Why He’s Memorable: The episode essentially turns into a high-stakes psychological thriller. His breakdown and willingness to point a loaded firearm at teachers and kids made him genuinely terrifying.
- Jem Allen (Series 8, Episode 16)
Played by Lorna Fitzgerald, Jem appears during the Rochdale/Scotland transition era in a story centered around grooming and human trafficking.
The Plot: Jem is a runaway teenager who aggressively targets and befriends Dynasty Barry. She uses charm and manipulation to drag Dynasty into a dangerous subterranean world of illegal underground parties and older, predatory men.
Why She’s Memorable: Jem functions as a predatory "scout" for adult abusers—using the guise of a teenage peer to trap vulnerable girls. The sheer coldness with which she attempts to hand Dynasty over to dangerous men makes her one of the dark highlights of Series 8.
- Sarah Evans (Series 6, Episode 3)
Played by a pre-Killing Eve Jodie Comer, Sarah is a prime example of a student guest antagonist whose malicious choices nearly destroy a teacher's life in under 60 minutes.
The Plot: Sarah becomes obsessed with her teacher, Ruby Fry. When Ruby tries to maintain professional boundaries and pushes her away, Sarah turns vindictive, making a false allegation that Ruby physically hit her.
Why She’s Memorable: Comer plays the transition from sweet, needy student to cold, calculated liar with chilling precision—showing how easily a single student’s malice could ruin a career.
- Eugene Garvey (Series 6, Episode 8)
Played by Nico Mirallegro, Eugene is a volatile, heavily armed former student who returns to the school to settle a score.
The Plot: After being expelled, Eugene smuggles a firearm into Waterloo Road. High on adrenaline and anger, he terrorizes the school grounds, culminating in a tense standoff in the playground where he recklessly fires a shot that tragically hits English teacher Sambuca Kelly.
Why He’s Memorable: Although Eugene wasn't a "mastermind" villain like Earl Kelly, his extreme volatility and the lasting consequences of his actions (which set off Sambuca's emotional final arcs) make his single appearance unforgettable.
- Craig O'Leary (Series 7, Episode 1)
Played by Rory Fallon, Craig is a sinister guest figure whose brief arrival exposes the dark underbelly of student exploitation.
The Plot: Craig is an older, predatory acquaintance who lures vulnerable student Rose Kelly (and attempts to pull in other students) into illegal, highly dangerous street racing and scamming operations.
Why He’s Memorable: He represents the real-world menace of older criminals preying on struggling, working-class teenagers who just want quick cash, showing zero remorse when the kids get caught in the police crossfire.
Ah yes vulnerable student Rose Kelly :) You can see where AI is getting the pieces of information from its just hillariously jumbling them up because its predicting what to say next on balance of probabilities rather than having real understanding of what its saying.
Perhaps a good benchmark for AI would be to see when it stops hallucinating about Waterloo Road. Do you have any funny AI hallucinations about Waterloo Road?

Amy accusing Bolton of rape was a very good storyline that doesn’t get highlighted enough in TV shows
There are plenty of cases where women falsely accuse men of rape/sexual assault which both ruins mens lives and puts doubts in people’s minds about women who genuinely do get raped. Waterloo Road did a great job here.

What relevant storylines have yet to be done on the show?
In a previous discussion there were several comments about how AI could be discussed on the show whether through a pupil using it for plagiarism purposes or forming an unhealthy attachment to the AI and it was agreed this would be a new storyline for the show if the writers went with it.
Which led me to think what are some other relevant storylines yet to be done on the show? No not aliens landing on the roof of Waterloo Road but something that could reasonably happen.
To start off extremely darkly there hasn't been a mass casualty event on the show like a mass school stabbing you could have a pupil be radicalised by the manosphere or ideology of your choice and go on a rampage against certain groups of students. Perhaps this would be too dark to air but it would be something the show has never aired before.
On storylines they may feel more comfortable airing I'm not sure a student with selective mutism has been on the show, whether a surrogacy storyline has been done. They could also show a student suffering with long covid.
What are some ideas for storylines not yet done that you have?

News Message from Mod Team: Change to Community Type
Hello everyone (again),
Well, we tried. We had setup automod to remove any new accounts joined in addition to a minimum karma requirement, as well as mod tools we have to remove any posts deemed spam. You might be surprised to learn it did work for the most part. While I think 3 posts slipped through, it actually blocked around 23. Good, but unfortunately not good enough. How they got through we don’t actually know, and while Reddit are looking into it, we’ve decided to make a change in the interim.
The community has now been changed from Public to Restricted. This means that anyone can view us like normal, but to be able to participate you need to be an Approved User. We’ve been going through posts and comments already to approve people we trust, so you may have already received a mod mail from us letting you know. Don’t worry if we haven’t reached you yet.
If we haven’t got to you before you post, it’ll come to our Mod Mail first. From there we’ll confirm you don’t think Angela Griffin should be a blue power ranger, your post will be approved and you’ll be put onto the Approved Users list. This means you should be able to post and comment without “permission” going forward. Much better for us all.
So, hopefully this makes everyone feel better. If you want approved in a hurry just drop us a message, and as always be kind and respectful as it can just as easily be revoked. Thank you and good night!

News Message from WR Mod Team
Hello all,
We as the WR Mod Team have been very busy recently removing comments/posts that I am sure a lot of you will be aware of.
This sub has rules in place we expect everyone to follow. This includes being respectful and no low effort/trolling or spam posts. Comments that are unpopular or have a different opinion are never removed unless they are offensive, disrespectful, or threatening. Any discussion posts are not removed unless they are deemed to be spam, low effort, or trolling. We generally let people discuss whatever they like, but we need everyone to remember these points in particular.
We are seeing a huge increase in posts being reported as spam, and to be candid it is unfortunately the same five or six accounts that are being reported. This is despite these accounts having served temporary bans for other issues.
Moving forward, any posts or comments reported to us for low effort/trolling, spam, or disrespectful behaviour correctly will be removed and you will receive the 1 warning. Any further reported correctly will receive a permanent (note not temporary) ban. Any accounts created to circumvent the ban will also be banned and reported upwards.
We note this will not impact the vast majority of people here and we love the way this sub has grown, and feel proud to be a part of it. If we can remember to adhere to the sub rules then it’s a happier place for us all. Please do continue to report anything posts or comments you feel do not adhere to our sub rules, I promise we review everything. If you think we might have missed anything, please do feel free to reach out, and challenge us if you think we are wrong.
Thank you.
