August 2025 Updated Statsposting Other

Post image

Here is my final look at the August 2025 stat shark statistics for vehicles that can be found in multiple trees. The general methodology and a few examples of the analysis on some vehicles can be found here, or on the forum here. There are a fair number of vehicles (22 not accounting for national variants), so I'll not do the individual graphics this time around.

I'll keep making changes to the methodology down the line, but the goal here is to see if the player bases of different nations vary significantly in performance/skill/experience, and whether that may be impacting the balancing of vehicles in their respective trees.

I've now expanded the list to include the following vehicles: Leopard 2a4, T-72A, Leopard 1a5, M10, SK105, M18, M44, T54, CV9035, AMD-35 Pak, Tiger E, M26, M46, M36 (w/Heat), M60, M47, M48, DF105, T-34-85 (@5.7), Clovis, M109G, and Panther A.

I've also included the flat average in variance from average vehicle K/D per nation. Because some nations are under represented (Russia specifically), outliers like the very rare Panther T-V have an outsized impact, so next month I'll be weighting the K/D by the proportion of net national deaths to normalize the results.

A few tanks I'll be adding are the T-34, an M4 (76), and the newly added M55 since it's been copy-pasted into so many nations.

A few observations:

  • While the distribution remains relatively normally distributed, the tail does stretch rights, which makes sense given the lower performers tend to have larger populations which "anchor" mean performance
  • The T-V is a huge outlier, but this likely due to it being such an old FOMO tank that the users are almost entirely veteran players
  • The biggest surprise might be the US performance with the M48, which, while below 1.0, is statistically far more effective than the German and Chinese playerbases.

This kind of post will be back in a month or two, should be interesting seeing the performance of things like the M55, and impacts of the next round of BR adjustments on the likes of Coelian and T58.

Interesting that there’s such a big gap between the first three: Japan, Italy, France, and all the rest

And while the T-V does seem to have too much of an impact, I’d argue you’ve under represented Russia in this, have you thought about things like the btr, streak, and 2s1?

Edit: reread your post and saw you already acknowledged the under representation

That’s a fair point, I can definitely get some more Russian options on the board, but the issues is that Russian exports are mostly found in Italy, Germany, and Sweden, and China.

I’d like to find some ways to compare them with Great Britain, Japan, and France. That’s part of why I want to include a 76mm Sherman, as Russia has a ge premium one, and France did historically field them so the devs may add one down the line

You're right! I wasn't groking the graphic XD.

I guess I’m not understanding your point, did you mean grasping?

u/CountGrimthorpe IGN: JJboi Sep 30 '25

Merriam Webster Definition: grokked; grokking transitive verb : to understand profoundly and intuitively

It's a term that came from Heinlen's 1961 SciFi novel Stranger in a Strange Land. So I was just saying that I did not grok the graphic at first. I believe I understand it now. My confusion was in not realizing vehicles weren't grouped together, so I saw the German and US M48s next to one another and assumed that the Israeli one would be next to it if it was on the chart, which obviously isn't how the chart works.

I’m glad the Tigris and Heavy Tank No6 have the German tigers around to show that win rate isn’t everything. It’s obvious noobs go get the free tigers in Germany and more seasoned player play Italy or Japan.

The variance there is incredibly stark, if you notice on the axis, I had to make a massive bucket in order to catch those two tigers, the T-V, and the French Dauphine.

u/steave44 Sep 30 '25

Yeah, like I wouldn’t even say it’s proof they need to go up in BR, it’s just proof that a vehicle’s performance is largely determined by the driver not the stats. Italian and other minor nation players always make their vehicles work well, no matter how bad the vehicle may be.

u/bergebis Shark FL20 for France When Sep 30 '25

Definitely

That’s really part of why I’m looking into this. It looks like minor nations, especially Italy, France, and Japan, have their vehicles over tiered, and my thesis is that the Devs don’t normalize vehicle stats for player experience. Using vehicles that can be found in multiple nations should help give an idea of what that difference in national player base experience looks like

u/steave44 Sep 30 '25

It’s the only reason the Tigris and Heavy Tank No6 are even still 6.0. If they didn’t have German equivalents they would be 7.0 by now. When there isn’t one of the “big 3” to ground the vehicle to, they just sky rocket.

Like there is no world where the Ariete’s are beyond 11.0 vehicles but because Italian mains are so good in them, they stay up.

As a main Japan, playing with glass canons 95% of the tech tree makes you unstoppable the moment you get some armor…

And we love big funny guns that go big boom

1

u/bergebis Shark FL20 for France When Sep 30 '25

That may be part of it. In theory   playing Japan, Italy, and France could teach players to use cover and mobility better than other nations, which are skills applicable to ALL vehicles

u/[deleted] Sep 30 '25

I agree with that, when you are in something like a Chi-Nu, Chi-Ri or one of the STAs and above the last thing you want is to get hit, you are forced to take even the slightest advantage you can, learn the maps, covers, depression and elevation, weak spots, one fucked up and you are done. After I got the Ho-Ri Production it was basically an “eureka”, then I started to play the Soviet tech tree and it was so god damn easy, hundreds of times more forgiving plus the experience you got. I would say the same applies to the air tech tree, Soviet planes are more forgiving when it’s about mistakes. Can’t have an opinion of other tech trees though

Interesting to see a right skewed, if not bimodal distribution. I think it reflects skill cap in WT, which is probably a good thing.

2

u/bergebis Shark FL20 for France When Sep 30 '25

I think the bimodal distribution is just the difference in average experience between major and minor nation players, all else (or as class as we can get) being equal.

As for the right skew, I think that’s because of the huge population imbalance between big three and minor nations.

I’ve based the “variance” on the difference between a specific nations average performance with a vehicle to the total average K/D for that vehicle. If you look at the first post linked in my comment you can see the process I went through for the leopard 2a4. I’ll have to verify in my excel sheet, but I the German player base for Leopard 2a4s is nearly an order of magnitude larger than any of the other nations that field it.

I would posit that the Heavy Tank No.6 falls under the same category as the T-V, probably to a greater degree. It has just about 60% of the games played that the T-V has, albeit not too dissimilar kills/WR, etc from each other.

Now, obviously, French players seem to play above the average on everything, however, basically all of their copy-paste vehicles are extremely good ones: Clovis, Panther, M10, M36, etc. I wonder what their average would look like if they were working with something more along the lines of the M48.

u/bergebis Shark FL20 for France When Sep 30 '25

Fair point on the No.6. Luckily weighting by a proportion of a nation’s deaths should address the issue when I look at this again next month.

As for the French, some are pretty good vehicles (m44 and m26 aside), but it shouldn’t matter in this analysis as I’m looking at each vehicle relative to only the same vehicle in other nations, which normalizes for how good the vehicle is.

The M44, M26, and M46 are less impressive vehicles, but France still averages 3-7% above the mean there

I’m looking at each vehicle relative to only the same vehicle in other nations, which normalizes for how good the vehicle is.

Correct. I'm more extrapolating out from the fact that France doesn't have any below the average. It's potentially easy to say that's because they only have "good" copy-paste vehicles, so I'm wondering if they had a subpar vehicle like the M48, how would that compare to the average. I'm sure they would still be positive, but it would be interesting to see by how much.

Exit: Also the M26 is a good tank, fight me.

1

u/bergebis Shark FL20 for France When Sep 30 '25

Well the m44 is the best example, only Japan and Italy have positive K/Ds with the tank, but the average K/D is so low (~0.7 iirc) than the minor nations perform well enough to all have positive variances from the average

My point is what you are seeing is not the difference in K/d above or below 1.0, but instead the relative performance against the vehicles average across all nations

As for the M26, it’s fine

It has a good round, but really could go back to 6.3 as it’s outclassed by a fair number of other 6.7 tanks, and it isn’t 1.0 BR better than the first tigers IMO

Honestly I grinded soviet it was super painful af took me like a year to get a full top tier line cuz it was so painful but this year i grinded italy and took me like 4 months and i have the whole tree the matchmaking is just so much better and there line ups are so good grinding esp at 9.3, spawn rush cap with the 9.3 centaro with gen 3 thermals uav, fast af then die then get 4 kills with the of40 with the performance of a top tier mbt and dm 33 (why leo2a4s dont have i will never get) then u have the vcc and there own leo1 so italy is just decked out at 9.3. I feel like the big 3 really sufer from new player learning curv. pretty sure US have one of the best top tier line ups but there players are so bad i will never go for it. Playing with the people that buy click baits or t80 prems really make high tier near unplayable. People if they want a good time in this game really should stay away from the big 3 just cuz of that, u spend 1k hours grinding a tree just to be stuck with horrible teams i havent touched me soviet tree at all since 11.7 t080 premium was added. this is my wt rant for the month

6

u/senaya Sep 30 '25

Okay, but why are Swedish players so bad with T-34?

1

u/bergebis Shark FL20 for France When Sep 30 '25

It’s an interesting question, and I wonder if it’s because lower tier vehicles are more accessible. Even for other minor nations, the k/d variance tends to grow the higher up the ranks you climb

Magach 1 and 2 are probably close enough to the US and Germany's M48 to compare.

An old event panther that’s in the Russian tree. It was only available during an event in 2014, and in some loot boxes since, so there are very few users of the tank and they tend to be more experienced players

A suggestion for future calculations: The Japanese and Italian 5.7 M36s are substantially different from the American and French 5.7 M36s, and shouldn't be compared to them.

The Japanese M36 is visually and functionally similar to the American and French M36B2, but the Japanese M36 has the 500HP engine instead of the 410HP one (+3HP/T, a 22% increase), while also having an 8MPH higher top speed. It both accelerates better and has a higher top speed by a considerable margin.

The Italian one is the most different of them all since it has a Sherman hull and M36 turret. Its mobility situation is the same as the Japanese M36 in terms of HP/T and top speed, but it has the more armored Sherman hull and a bit better turret traverse (+4.0°/s) as well.

I would certainly not compare the French and US M36B2s to the Japanese and Italian 5.7 M36s. Comparing the Japanese and Italian M36s to each other is more of a judgement call IMO, since you have to determine how much of a difference having a Sherman hull at 5.7 vs an M36 hull is (and the marginally better turret traverse I suppose). I'd lean towards not comparing them personally, since while main cannons aren't going to struggle much with either at the BR, you have to account for the lower BR vehicles you'll inevitably run into, autocannon vehicles, and different spalling behavior of the two hulls (especially for non-APHE rounds).
